Rules for installing hidden electrical wiring in an apartment and house. How to hide cables from a TV on the wall - simple solutions versus non-standard ideas Organize cable storage

Modern housing consists of many communications, where electrical wires occupy a leading place. They connect not only numerous light sources, but also all equipment, from household to digital. Such an abundance of cable can create an unattractive picture, and if there are small children in the house, it can also be dangerous. To avoid any troubles, when planning a renovation, you must immediately determine where and how to hide the wires in the apartment. Let's look at the most common options that are very popular.

Internal placement

When it comes to major renovation, then it is best to hide all communications so that they do not spoil the aesthetic appearance.

Wall

This technology can be used when wallpaper is already hung on the wall. To do this you need to follow simple algorithm actions:

  1. The wallpaper is carefully cut with a sharp knife and bent to the sides, secured with needles.
  2. Using a construction tool, make a groove where the wire will be hidden.
  3. Place the cable in the resulting recess.
  4. The groove is sealed with plasticine or covered with plaster.
  5. When the solution dries, coat the wallpaper with glue and glue it in place.

Floor

No less popular is the placement of wires on the floor, or rather under it. So simple, but at the same time in an original way, you can quickly disguise the wires. Once you choose this option, you have several options.

  1. Special plinth. When visiting a hardware store, pay attention to models of skirting boards with a special niche for cables. The central part will be easy to remove, and wires can be laid in the recess. This method is convenient and universal.
  2. Disguise to the floor. During the repair work Using a hammer drill, a recess is made in the floor, in which communications are laid and then filled with cement.
  3. Cement strainer . Leveling the floor is a mandatory process in almost every apartment. To do this, you need to stretch the wire in a corrugated wire, lay it on the floor and pour a regular cement screed on top.

Ceiling

You can even hide the wires on the ceiling, and it will be easier to do this than with a wall. There are also several options here:

  1. Installation of a decorative niche made of plasterboard, which runs along the entire perimeter of the ceiling. The resulting gap can accommodate a huge number of wires. Experts recommend connecting all communications into one common highway.
  2. A stretch ceiling also allows you to hide the wires, but you just need to think about this before the canvas is stretched. The placement method will not make any difference.

External camouflage

If you don’t want to disrupt and add more work to yourself, then you can use no less interesting methods of camouflage.

Tree branch. Even a small but extra piece of cable can be easily decorated. To do this, a tree branch is formed, which is decorated with homemade leaves, flowers and birds. An original idea will update the interior and enliven the room.

Trees. If the length of the excess wire is too long, then do not rush and cut it. It will be enough to buy special fasteners, look on the Internet for a suitable silhouette and form it on the wall.

Scenery. More can be considered complex options. So you can “draw” on the wall original panel. The main thing is a clear contrast that will highlight the idea.

Art object. Since we are talking about electricity, we can do original design ceiling in the form of a giant light bulb. This design is fixed to the ceiling.

Power station. In order for the decorative element to perform several functions at the same time, you can depict a simple power plant on the wall, with the help of which parents can teach their children the basics and principle of operation of the power plant.

Highway. The process is more complex and painstaking, and will also require free time and desire. For creating interesting subject interior design, all components must be cut out of cardboard and, if desired, painted to create a colorful object. You can purchase special blanks. This way you can easily disguise the wires from the TV.

Fence. Any wires can be secured to the top of the baseboard. But in order to disguise them, you can cut out small blanks in the form of a fence, which is fixed to the baseboard using double-sided tape. This is an original idea for a children's room, and the fence can be painted in different colors or one specific one.

In addition, communications can be easily hidden behind the following items:

  • tall indoor plants;
  • properly positioned furniture;
  • door frames;
  • carpet covering.
Note! It is best to sketch out the wire placement plan on a piece of paper in order to think through and use several masking options.

Computer

The largest number of cords are located around the computer desk. Here, in addition to the computer itself, there may be other devices that require connection to the mains. All this leads to the presence of not only tangled wires, but also carriers. To decorate them, just use your imagination:

  • Using clips, screws, double-sided tape, all wires are secured under the table cover.
  • Any shoebox will contain a large number of wires that will come out of specially made holes.
  • The sewn cover for the extension cord is simply fixed to the cover desk and thus it will not get underfoot and disturb the user.
  • A simple cover is also made along the contour of the back of the table, along which the cords will run down to the sockets.
  • To keep the wires twisted into one whole, you can tighten them into a hose, which will quickly remove the chaos behind the wall.
  • To prevent device connectors from getting lost, you can use simple stationery paper clips that are attached to the side of the tabletop. When it comes to wires from the Internet, experts recommend switching to modern and innovative technologies, that is, using a wireless network - Wi-Fi. This will allow everyone to connect to the Internet no matter what room they are in.

Note! The shoebox idea can also be used to store chargers for phones, tablets and digital cameras. In this case, they will all be in their places and will no longer get lost.

  1. During the masking process, each type of cable must be marked on both sides. Even after a few years, you will not get confused in a large number of wires and will quickly find what you need.
  2. Wires that are used to transmit data or signal (computer, antenna, audio and Internet) must be connected separately from cables with alternating current networks. This will reduce the level of interference and noise.
  3. The power cable should be short; the longer it is, the higher the risk of electric shock and injury. Even a child or animal can damage it while playing.
  4. The fabric braid should not be bent, as the fabric can catch fire if there is a small tear and also quickly lose its attractiveness.
  5. A specialized store offers a large assortment of special decorative boxes in which you can hide wires. The original design will easily fit into any room interior and will not take up much space.

Note! Buy and cut the required amount of wire after the fact, so that later you don’t have to think about where to put the excess and how to decorate it .

If necessary, you can implement the most unusual and extraordinary ideas for masking wires in the apartment.

Disguising cords running around the room is quite simple. The main thing is to use your imagination a little, using available tools and some design techniques. Next, we will proceed as follows - we will separately analyze how to hide wires from a TV, computer, and even lamps on the wall!

TV and Internet

It is not difficult to hide the network cable and television wires running around the room from view. It is best to use a special electrical skirting board that will run through the entire house to the bedroom or living room. If you don’t want to buy a new baseboard, you can carefully disguise a bunch of wires using special designer things, like a picket fence, as in the photo below:

In order not to pull the Internet cable from front door to the bedroom, it is recommended to install Wi-fi router at the entrance to the apartment (in the corridor). In this case, the connection to the network will be wireless and you will not have to run the cable between rooms, through doorways and thresholds.

In addition, you can hide television wires in a cable channel, which is quite easily attached to the wall with self-tapping screws. Today there are many that will suit the color not only in an ordinary apartment, but also in a wooden house.

If the repair has already been done, then the most the best solution There will be the use of decorative elements - beautiful clips that will decorate the wires from the wall-mounted TV running along the floor and wall. You can also see an example of this method of solving a problem in the photo:

If you want to hide the cords from the TV during repairs, we recommend making a special niche for them in the drywall or, conversely, assembling a box:

In order not to damage the walls, you can hide the TV and Internet cable in the baseboard if you do it as shown in this video:

How to carefully remove the cable?

Well, the last way is to cut a groove in the wall behind the plasma and run electrical wires along it. However, this is the most time-consuming option and is best avoided. Imagine that the TV will need to be hung on another wall, and you will have to think again about how to hide the antenna cable.

As for other household appliances - an air conditioner, a stereo or even a home theater, using the ideas listed above, you can disguise hanging wires using the same method. The cable from the air conditioner is most often hidden in a cable channel, and the wires from the home theater are run above the baseboard, secured with special clips.

Computer

Computer wires really spoil the interior of a room, and if you get a little creative, you can hide them quite nicely.

The first idea is to disguise all the cords from the monitor, system unit and modem under the table cover, securing them with clips on self-tapping screws or double-sided tape. This idea is clearly shown in the photo example:

You can see another simple way to hide everything unnecessary under the table cover in this video lesson:

How to remove unnecessary cords from the “computer”?

Don't want to spoil the table? You can hide the wires from your computer equipment in a shoebox, decorating it in an original way to match your bedroom interior.

You can find out how to make such a box with your own hands by watching this video:

How can a shoe box be useful?

Besides original idea It is considered to be the purchase of a special cover for the extension cord, which is quite simply attached to the desk lid.

If the cord from the speakers bothers you, you can easily hide it in an appropriate case that is attached to the back of the table.

All unnecessary cords, including charging, can be beautifully removed from the table using ordinary clips, as in the picture below:

Another idea is to thread the whole bunch of wires through a hose. In this case, the chaos under the table will hide in one single shell, which will not spoil the interior of the room or even the office so much.

Using all these tips you can disguise electrical wires and make workplace more neat. There's nothing complicated about simply placing cords and cables in a box or securing them under a table! In addition to the fact that in this way you will put things in order computer desk, and masking also allows you to protect the cords from dogs and cats that like to chew on chargers, headphones, etc.

Lamps

If all the wiring from the chandelier is hidden in the lamp body, then hiding the cord is a little more difficult. If the wall is bare, you can decoratively hide the hanging wire by extending it and making a design on the wall. You can see an example of such an idea in the photo:

If you are thinking about how to hide the wires from the sconce during repairs, it is best to connect the lamp from the junction box, and not through an outlet. In this case, all electrical wiring will be hidden under the plaster and wallpaper, and the interior will not be damaged. Do you want to do without gating? Then hide all the extra ones in the cable channel running along the wall.

Hide the power supply from LED strip can be in a special box that is mounted under the ceiling and can be used in the kitchen or in the living room.

That's all I wanted to say about this issue. We hope that you have gained ideas for yourself on how to hide wires from a TV, computer and other household appliances so that it is beautiful.

Electrical wires, laces, cables coming from various household appliances to sockets can significantly damage appearance premises, become an easy “target” for small children and “toothy” pets. When there are a lot of electrical appliances, the question arises: how to hide the wires so that they are not visible or are minimally noticeable. There are many ways, most of them are easy to implement with your own hands.

The need for masking wires

Why is it necessary to hide electrical wires, why should they not be within reach:

  • this is ugly - the tangle of heaps of cords in the most prominent places greatly spoils the appearance of the room, violating the integrity of most interiors, especially “historical” ones. The only exceptions are spaces decorated in the style of techno, industrial, loft, art-believe;
  • this is unsafe - it’s easy to get caught on a cable stretched across the entire room, fall, and get injured. Teething children, many pets, are capable of chewing electrical wires out of curiosity, which often leads to damage electric shock varying degrees of severity.

In addition to the cords themselves, it is advisable to hide the “boxes” of extension cords, along with the many gadget charges sticking out of them.

Hiding wires in the wall

The most popular option is when the cable is hidden directly in the wall - the so-called “hidden wiring”. To do this, appropriate recesses are cut out in it, where electrical wires are placed, and the recesses are covered. It turns out dusty and takes quite a long time, but if the work is done efficiently, the dangerous parts are securely hidden - it will not be possible to see, much less damage them, without compromising the integrity of the wall.

Into a concrete/brick wall

It is advisable to install electrical wiring at the renovation stage, preferably during the planning of the premises. As long as the walls are bare and there is no decor on them, the damage will be minimal. It is important to know that “pulling” the cable diagonally, which is sometimes done in order to save money, is unacceptable - hidden electrical wiring is laid only vertically-horizontally. This will allow you to quickly repair it in the event of an accident, minimizing the risk of electrical damage. Minimum distance from the ceiling to hidden wires – 15-18 cm.

To begin with, a wiring diagram is drawn up, marking is done using the construction or laser method. To make grooves, take a hammer drill, grinder or wall chaser. To the brick concrete wall the parts are fastened with dowel clamps. After the cable is laid, the grooves are primed, covered with plaster, and the wall is leveled.

Into a plasterboard wall

Installing electrical wiring under drywall is much easier than installing into concrete. Here you should also lay the cable along a clear route so that multiple screws do not damage it. To begin with, the frame is “assembled” from aluminum profiles, drywall. The cord must be laid in a special corrugated pipe, which has a fire safety certificate.
When there is already a plasterboard wall and it is necessary to lay a cable in it, then a layout diagram of the electrical equipment is drawn up. The cords here are pulled horizontally, vertically, including through holes in the metal profiles supporting the drywall.

Floor, ceiling installation

Placing wiring on the ceiling is convenient if the latter is partially or completely made of plasterboard, stretched films, hollow wooden, or plastic false beams. Such coatings perfectly mask all cables, corrugated pipes, and other communications. This is convenient in cases where the floor and walls are almost ready, they have a unique, highly artistic coating - it is problematic to change anything.

Cables run along the floor, but if you do this on the ceiling, it is impossible to do it on the walls. Then the screed is made four to seven centimeters thick - under such a layer it is easy to hide any number of electrical wires. Another convenience factor is the placement of sockets and switches as close to the floor as possible (30-90 cm). You will have to scratch the wall here to install socket boxes quite a bit; the cable savings will also be significant.

It is important to choose the strongest, heaviest corrugation for each cord, and install most of the wiring at a distance of 20-30 cm from the wall. Fastening to the floor is carried out using flexible punched tape, textile material or mesh.

Skirting boards with cable channels

Collapsible plastic skirting boards are equipped with holes into which a cord or several wires can be inserted at the same time. Advantages of skirting boards with cable channels:

  • there is no need to trench the walls, violating their integrity, wasting time on filling up irregularities;
  • the ability to beautifully hide all wires, almost anywhere in the apartment;
  • the element is flexible enough - it can be used even if the wall is crooked;
  • The plinth is easily washed from various contaminants and does not fade in direct sunlight;
  • The part is available in various colors and is matched to the existing floor covering.

The cable channel is located inside the structure in the center or in the removable upper half. The first option is suitable when you need to hide three or four wires, the second - for several thick cords. It is important to choose the baseboard according to color, width, and install it from the inner corners of the room. All corners are closed with special decorative overlays, purchased together with skirting boards.

For timber, concrete, and plasterboard walls, appropriate fasteners are used here - the plinth must fit snugly to both the wall and the floor.

Cable channels, their types for masking wires

The plastic channels into which the cord is inserted and inserted are called cable channels. This is one of the most convenient options hiding electrical wires, used after finishing finishing finishing works. They are often used in the kitchen - this is convenient when renovations are done, but later additional equipment such as an air conditioner is purchased, washing machine, lighting fixtures.

Cable channels vary in color, they are easy to replace and add new branches. The design is made of fireproof materials, the cords in it are maximally protected from external damage and ultraviolet radiation. The downside here is that choosing colors to match some interior styles (baroque, ecological, empire, rustic, etc.) is problematic, although the design looks much better than wires hanging from everywhere. When the cable channel is located on a corner or any protrusion, it is easy to catch.

The element is made of plastic, metal (galvanized steel, anodized aluminum), it can be U-shaped, W-shaped, triangular, semicircular. Fastening to the wall or floor is done with self-tapping screws, dowel-nails, iron brackets, and anchors. There are also flexible rubber, wire, and transparent options.

Camouflage covers

You can make your own cover for one or several cords at the same time from plastic bags cut into long, narrow strips. A kind of “sleeve” is knitted or crocheted from them, into which all the necessary wiring is inserted. To hide an extension cord with charges in this way, a handbag of suitable size is knitted or sewn.

Some stores offer decorative collapsible plastic covers in the form of tree branches, colored tubes, and shiny snakes. This design does not have protective properties, like cable channels, but covering “ugly” wires with it is acceptable. If desired, a special spiral braid can be purchased - it is flexible, has an aesthetic appearance, and allows you to hide both one element and many wires.

Decor with stickers, stickers, improvised means

Decorative elements that help hide or neatly secure numerous cords are sold almost everywhere and are quite inexpensive. In this way you can decorate the cord coming from the sconce above the bed in the bedroom. You can decorate the cable from the TV or the cord from the heater running along the floor using a “toy” mini-fence glued to the baseboard. If you plan to carefully hide many elements behind a fence, tie clamps are used.

Decorative clamps are now sold in all electrical stores. They are an adjustable flexible clip decorated with leaves, flowers, butterflies, birds, and houses. In romantic interiors, laces are decorated with sparkles and feathers, in a children's room - with stickers depicting fairy tale characters and favorite cartoons.

Wires as an art object

It is easy to create an original contour image from a long cord that contrasts with the wall near which it is located. When the cords are long enough that they can be arranged intentionally, they are used to lay out geometric patterns, entire subject pictures - city panoramas, silhouettes of animals, profiles of people, trees, legs and backs of furniture, frames of mirrors.

It is also easy to decorate loft-style interiors with wires, laying them out in bricks, and decorating them with deliberately huge corrugated pipes coated with bronze paint. The latter are also laid in the intended shape.

Colored electrical cords can become a continuation of a wall painting, duplicating the pattern on curtains, the floor, imitating the “missing” parts of various structures.

Cable as a detail of interior, style

Loft is one of the few interior styles in which it is permissible not to hide, but, on the contrary, to emphasize in every possible way the presence of wires in a variety of places. Original retro-style wiring, which not so long ago was found only in truly old houses, is now offered by many companies specializing in electrical wiring.

In such an interior it is easy to find:

  • twisted electrical wires “ivory”, “copper”, “brass”;
  • convex retro switches “ivory”;
  • antique sockets;
  • cords imitating aged silver.

In the loft, the wires are not hidden at all, but safety has not been canceled here - when there is a risk of accidental damage, it is better to hide the element in massive cable channels, stylized as copper, steel, corrugated pipes, wooden boxes, etc.

Ideas on how to hide the cable from a TV or home theater

Cables, cords from TV, set-top boxes, speakers are neatly hidden behind the shelf on which the TV is placed. If you decide to hang the screen on the wall, the wire is hidden in a box matched to the color of the wallpaper, and under it is placed a climbing plant, the tendrils and branches of which are allowed to curl around the box.

Many designers suggest not hiding the wires, but simply decorating them with colored ribbons to decorate an apartment in the pop art style, indoor plants(curly ones are optimal) - for eco-style, hollow driftwood boxes, wood panels, when it comes to classic interiors.

When you have to hang a bracket for a heavy TV, the design of the first one is chosen so as to fit all the sockets there. Sometimes a box is mounted on the wall where the TV screen will be placed, in which the cords from the speakers, DVD player, and other electronics will be hidden.

Tips and ways to hide wires in the workplace

In a home office, to make it look neat, the laces coming from the computer and router also need to be removed. A stationery clip will allow you to “run” the cord, which gets tangled under your feet, under the surface of the table - from its very edge. The clip is easy to fix on a wall or shelf, and several of these parts make a kind of separators for the inputs of different charges. If possible, the wires hanging near the back of the table are simply covered with a textile curtain. Some of them can be designed into a mini-hammock - the “head” of the extension cord can easily fit there along with chargers, very disturbing on the table.

By simply upgrading a desk that has spacious drawers, all the electrical equipment will be neatly hidden there.

Modern people often have to charge several devices at the same time. When they are all inserted into one “tee” or “multi-tailed” charging is used, with three to five cords for different devices, all elements are collected under one office clip and attached to any nearby surface. Some purchased options are separator boxes with four to six shaped holes through which only the “tails” of the charges come out. A similar product can be easily made with your own hands by upgrading a simple shoe box covered with fabric and wrapped in colored paper.

Safety - how to hide wires from a child

Many companies producing household goods produce entire series of protective elements designed to maximally protect the little person from electric shock. Companies such as Ikea produce convenient cord clamps - they are difficult to chew or break, and two to four cords can easily fit inside.

Special integrated designs that allow you to charge a phone or tablet are built into any furniture surface - they are easy to place out of a child’s reach. The same company produces boxes and handbags-cases with buttons - extension boxes and, in part, electrical wires are hidden in them, which allows you to give a neat appearance to the entire room. For some devices, there are completely wireless designs - to charge a tablet, phone, player, you just need to put the gadget on such a charger.

If it was not possible to purchase protective items for laces and extension cords, all “dangerous” items are hidden in large cardboard, plastic, or wooden boxes, which are placed in places inaccessible to the baby.

Conclusion

Wireless technologies are still not widespread - the vast majority electrical appliances you have to plug it into a power outlet. The solution is to hide the cords in a cable channel, in a wall or under a baseboard. It is also possible to make a real work of art out of a long wire using original decorative elements. Electrical specialists usually help to properly disguise electrical cables and cords from all appliances in the ceiling and floor.

Even taking into account the fact that wireless technologies are increasingly taking their place in our Everyday life, we are not yet able to completely abandon wires. Despite any Wi-Fi networks, television, telephone and Internet cables are still present in our apartments (not to mention ordinary electrical wires).

Even if all this is connected into one cable, there is no escape from the need to lay it. This means that the wires need to be disguised somehow. How? Read our article...

INSIDE OR OUT?

To begin with, there are two main ways to hide wiring: directly inside the wall or on its outside.

The first option involves a lot of dusty work: you will have to scratch the walls and spoil the existing finish, postponing dreams of beautiful interior for some time. But this option will radically solve the problem of interior aesthetics. It is recommended to use this method during a major renovation of an apartment or in a new building.

For those who are not interested in hiding the wires once and for all, we can offer one of the simplest and most budget-friendly options - cable channels. Let us outline their main advantages:

  • the problem of unsightly, tangled or dangling wires is completely solved: the cables are hidden, and a decorative element in the form of a cable channel appears on the floor or wall;
  • ease of installation: the cable channel box is fixed on the wall, the wires are laid inside, and the lid is closed on top. No inconvenience with wall chasers, dust, construction debris or damaged finishes;
  • ease of use: the cover and the cable channel body are connected using a latch lock, which allows you to open and check the cables inside at any time, lay a new one or remove an unnecessary wire;
  • thanks to the presence of various connecting elements, it is possible, if necessary, to increase the length of the cable route, run it to the wall, ceiling, or, conversely, lower it to the floor;
  • low cost makes cable duct one of the most affordable ways to beautifully hide wiring.

Few non-specialists in this field know that a cable channel is not just a plastic box with an opening lid. Today in the markets you can find the most different types cable channels for various purposes.

Once you find out which boxes are used for what, it will be much easier for you to navigate when purchasing, and the interior will look much neater.

WHY IS IT STILL NECESSARY TO INSTALL CABLE CHANNELS?

Firstly, they make the interior of the room more neat and aesthetically attractive. Agree, confused between

wires are not the best decoration for your room.

Secondly, it is convenient: it will be much easier to figure out which wire powers a particular device.

And thirdly, it's safe. If you have small children or pets in your home, you must hide the wiring so that

protect them from electric shock. Even a small-sized cockatoo parrot can bite through a 0 10 mm wire with its beak!

TYPES OF CABLE CHANNELS

Today, cable channels are made of aluminum, steel, and plastic.

PLASTIC CABLE CHANNELS

The most popular are plastic cable ducts, as they have good characteristics. The cable channels themselves are usually made of PVC.

main feature quality material the fact that under mechanical influence the channel changes shape and also easily restores it without significant changes.

Accessories for cable channels are made of ABS plastic with additional additives that prevent the spread of combustion and the release of harmful vapors when heated (the composition is similar to the material of plastic parts of sockets and switches). This material is easy to recognize: its structure is uniform, there is no lamination, and the product is quite durable.

Plastic models have different color scheme. Models with a wood pattern are very popular.

METAL CABLE CHANNELS

Metal models (aluminum and steel) are characterized by excellent fire performance. High-quality galvanized steel has a special coating that prevents corrosion. Metal cable channels have a long service life and are much more durable than plastic models - they can even withstand hammer blows.

The price for such products starts from 2200 rubles. behind linear meter.

BOARD CABLE CHANNELS

Often, a cable channel is not an interior decoration, but a need to hide the wires so that they are as invisible as possible. Skirting cable channels cope with this task perfectly.

These are a kind of plastic plinths, in the central part of which there is an internal cavity where the wires are laid. There are entire systems of plinth cable channels: not only long trays, but also a number of additional devices that allow you to assemble a structure of any configuration.

These can be external and internal corners, bends different shapes, plugs, mounting boxes on which switches and sockets can be installed. There is also an option to install sockets directly at the baseboard level. This is convenient in the kitchen, when sockets are provided for a built-in large household appliances(refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove) - so they don’t interfere, they’re almost invisible.

The disadvantage of this system is that the plinth cable channel accommodates a small number of wires. Most often, a television cable is hidden in it. To bring out the connectors in the right places, there is special fittings that allow you to do this neatly and as discreetly as possible.

Common sizes of plinth cable channels: 15 x 100; 20 x 50; 20 x 70; 25 x 100 mm. Also on sale are cable channels of both large sizes (35 x 80; 35 x 105; 50 x 80; 50 x 105; 50 x 150; 65 x 150 mm) and mini-series (20 x 12.5, 32 x 12.5; 40×12.5; 32×16:^0x16; 60×60; 60 x 20; 75 x 20 mm).

The price of such a product depends on the manufacturer; the most budget models can be purchased at a price of 385 rubles. per linear meter, the price of accessories starts from 30 rubles. a piece.

FLOOR CABLE CHANNELS

It happens that you need to pull the wires to the center of the room along the floor.

You can, of course, throw in an extension cord. But in this case, there will again be wires that can easily be touched and snagged, and it is not advisable to transport a computer chair along the wire - you will have to lift it every time.

This is where floor cable channels come to the rescue. They are used for reliable laying of cables along the floor, as they can withstand heavy loads. Moreover, the relatively low height of the structure allows you to move freely around the room without fear of tripping, and even a computer chair on wheels can easily overcome this obstacle.

This type of cable ducts differs in both shape and installation method. They are mounted on the floor, so on one side they have a rounded shape, so they do not interfere with movement. Available in impact-resistant plastic or aluminum. There are also accessories for them - joints, corners and plugs. The most common sizes: 50 x 12; 75×17; 92×20; 160×65 mm.

The price of floor cable channels is not much different from baseboard ones - they are sold at a price of 370 rubles. per linear meter.

FOR WALLS PARAPET CABLE CHANNELS

Cable channels of this type are similar in structure to baseboard ones. The main difference is this. that they are mounted above floor level. Installation of parapet cable channels is carried out, as a rule, at the level of window sills or at the level of the workplace. It is possible to install switches and various sockets (for 220 V power supply, television, Internet, etc.) in the body of parapet cable channels. They also consist of various elements that allow you to assemble any configuration.

Parapet cable channels have various options finishes that allow you to either make the channel invisible (then the elements are matched to the color of the walls), or, conversely, highlight it and make it an accent in the interior.

The price for parapet cable channels is almost twice as high as for floor ones and averages 600 rubles. per linear meter.

PERFORATED CABLE CHANNELS

This is a type of electrical box, distinctive feature of which there is perforation (comb-shaped profile) on the sides. They are, as a rule, a U-shaped profile 2 m long and have a different cross-section. If necessary, they are equipped with a lid with continuous or partial perforation. As with other cable channel models, the cover snaps into place after the cables have been laid. This profile design is used to lighten the weight and installation of cable routes. Perforated cable ducts are often used when the appearance of this installation is not so important (for example, in closets, basements, utility rooms).

The prices for such cable channels are among the most budget-friendly - on average 200 rubles. per linear meter.

FLEXIBLE CABLE CHANNELS

In situations where a “flexible approach” is important - if the walls, floor or ceiling have relief or height differences - we need cable channels that can easily repeat this shape. In this case, flexible cable channels are used. There are cable channels of open and closed types. Open ones are easy to maintain and install. Closed completely prevent the entry of foreign objects. TYPES OF FLEXIBLE CABLE CHANNELS:

  • flexible chains (or tracks)- multi-sectional structures that can bend along their entire length in one plane (up and down). Each element of the “chain” is connected to adjacent links by a hinged linkage and has a snap-on lid. There are small gaps between the links, which is why the cable channels are called semi-closed.

Most often they are used in production to connect machines. However, this does not mean that the owner of a private house cannot use such a cable channel. If he has his own home workshop or garage, this type will be very useful to him. Width of flexible chains - from 20 to 234 mm;

  • tubular: flexible cable channel for connecting to the door. Such a cable channel consists of a flexible metal hose and two fastening elements, which are attached to the wall and door. Typically, such transitions are used to power electric locks. Please note that the tubular cable duct can be bent countless times, but only if there are flexible wires inside (made of thin wire)
  • molded from soft plastic or rubber. Cable channels, molded from rubber or soft plastic, have fairly thick walls that can prevent moisture from getting inside. In a private home, cast cable ducts are successfully used for electrical wiring in a bathhouse (with the possible exception of a steam room).

Flexible cable channels will cost more - prices start from 1000 rubles. per linear meter.

MINI CABLE CHANNELS

By and large, mini-cable channels are standard U-shaped channels with a lid, but with a much smaller cross-section. Another difference from conventional cable channels is the absence of accessories (plugs, joints, corners, etc.). They are used where there is no need to hide a large number of wires: for example, when connecting ceiling lighting to country house. Mini cable channels can be of the following sizes: 10 x 10; 12 x 12; 16 x 14; 20x20; 25×25; 40x40 mm.

The price for mini cable channels varies from 60 to 150 rubles. per linear meter.

FOR CORNERS

Due to their design, corner cable channels can be installed at the junction of the room wall and ceiling and, less often, instead of a baseboard.

Angled cable channels are cut with a hacksaw at the desired angle. Do this carefully so that the corners meet evenly with each other, as they can also serve decorative element- molding. No one will ever guess that there are wires hidden underneath! However, such a cable channel also has a drawback - it does not have as much space as in a baseboard one.

The most common dimensions are 40 x 40 mm, so you can’t fit a lot of cables into it, and we’re not even talking about wiring. Also, baseboard cable channels have thinner walls and are more likely to be damaged when laid underneath. Here you need to be careful not to damage the wires that you will lay.

The price for such cable channels varies from 60 to 150 rubles. per linear meter.

IS IT WORTH HIDING WIRES IN THE WALL?

If the interior style and your funds allow, you can take an extremely contradictory route: do not hide the wiring, but, on the contrary, expose it. How?

RETROWIRING

First we will, of course, talk about retro wiring.

Some time ago, this is exactly how wiring was done: insulators were nailed to the wall, and insulators were attached to them twisted wires. Then came the fashion for hidden wiring: everyone tried to hide the wires as much as possible, leaving only the frames of sockets and switches outside, but they also tried to make them as inconspicuous as possible. However, recently, designers have realized that everything new is well-forgotten old, so open wiring in retro style is again gaining popularity.

It fits perfectly into the loft style, English, classic styles interiors, and also looks great in wooden houses made of logs, where a plastic cable channel would look simply ridiculous.

If everything is clear with the first reason (aesthetic), then the second reason why cable channels in log houses don't install - that's what wooden house changes its size all the time. Even after the main shrinkage has passed, there are changes and they are seasonal in nature: in wet periods the wall becomes higher, in dry periods it settles. The difference in height can be up to 5 cm per floor! And since the cable channels do not change their size, the problem of their damage arises.

Retro wiring and all its components are not cheap: the twisted wire itself costs from 165 rubles. per linear meter, sockets - from 1200 per piece, switches - from 1500 per piece.

CREATIVE APPROACH TO WIRING

If you are young and active person or just keep up with modern trends, you will like our ideas.

Organize whole pictures out of wires! To do this, you will need a sketch or photograph of the future painting, a construction pencil, a couple of packages of staples for attaching the cable and the wire itself, the length of which depends on the size and complexity of the future drawing. The linear picture itself is outlined with a pencil, as well as the places where the cable begins (for example, a socket) and its end (a lamp).

But if there is not enough wire for the picture, but you still want to decorate it, cut out the silhouettes of birds from thick black cardboard and “plant” them on the wires - it will be original. Or

choose a cable in a bright, contrasting color and use it to create abstract shapes on the wall. For the most creative, there is another option: organize an entire installation on the wall - a tree from floor to ceiling.

When the option of buying a new skirting board is not considered, don’t despair - just cut off the old one! Yes, yes - cut off the bottom of the old baseboard! Of course you will ask - why do I need this? So, now there are special skirting boards on sale - they will help you. You simply cut the bottom of your baseboard, then put the cables that are in your way into the free space, and cover the whole thing with a cover. Voila! No wires are visible. All that remains is to paint the overlay in the color of the baseboard, or, what is more convenient, paint them along with the baseboard! This way, all the wires will be hidden, and the baseboard will be fresher and more beautiful.

2. Lay the wiring under the ceiling. This option is only suitable if you need to hide the wires in the room where it is installed. suspended ceiling. Unfortunately, not everyone has enough room height to be able to afford to further lower the ceiling by installing a suspended ceiling, however, this option cannot be discarded.

3. Conduct all wiring in cable channels. This is a universal option, because cable channels, or as they are also called - boxes, look quite aesthetically pleasing and neat, and at the same time very functional. In one box 2 cm wide you can lay 4-6 power cables for a TV or computer, and this is enough to hide all the main wiring in the room.

To install the box, you need smooth and even walls, but in apartments they are like that almost everywhere, so the cable channel will lie smoothly and without indents. In addition, it can be covered with wallpaper to disguise it, and then it will be difficult to identify with the naked eye.

Issues of hidden wiring concern many citizens, especially if they have the Internet. Not everyone wants to sit at a table and move the mouse in front of the computer - many want to surf the Internet while lying on the couch using a laptop or tablet. However, most modern Internet equipment, such as Cisco ws-c3750x-24t-s, only work via wire. Although, as an option, everyone can connect their own router with a Wi-Fi antenna to such a switch and use the Internet throughout their apartment. Think about it, wireless technologies are the future.
