The process of making a lazy bed itself is nothing complicated and consists of a few simple steps.
Step 1. First, decide what the height of the sides of the beds will be (it depends on the place where you install them). In accordance with the required dimensions, cut the boards for the sides, connect with self-tapping screws and wooden blocks (at the corners). It is advisable to use clamps, as in the image below. After assembly is completed, turn the finished box over and mark a place for it, based on the lighting conditions.
Step 2 Dig holes 12-15 cm deep under the corner bars, firmly set the bed. Check the sides with a building level (to function normally in the future). Attach pieces of PVC pipe to the sides from the inside for the subsequent installation of a film or mesh hoops. Tamp the bottom of the bed, cover it with a fine-mesh metal mesh (it will protect the landings from rodents), as well as a layer of geotextile (the last moment depends on the purpose and materials of the bed).
Step 3 Fill the box with soil, fix the hoses for the system drip irrigation. Drop off. If necessary, install arcs for covering material. Everything, the lazy bed is ready to use!
- Be sure to take care of the irrigation system. It may not be the most expensive model. Watering can be done infrequently, but plentifully - so the plants will receive enough moisture until your next visit.

Advice! In order for the lawn to lie flat and uniform, grass seeds are mixed with sawdust. It is not worth mixing with sand, it is heavier and will not give uniformity with light seeds.
Before seeding the lawn, complete the placement of decorative pebbles around the white mulch pebbles. Stones do not need to be pressed into the soil, just lay them on the surface. When the grass begins to grow, it will slightly cover the pebbles.
Next to the rose bushes, lay out a path of painted wooden saw cuts. It is not necessary to make a continuous path, there are enough “steps” so that you can walk on them or stand on them to care for roses. While the young grass is growing, do not trample it.
How to seed the perfect lawn
- To prepare the soil, loosen it with a rake, breaking all the lumps.
- Then sprinkle a thin layer of humus (1 cm) over the surface and sprinkle sand mixed with peat (2 cm) on top.
- Nutrient soil is not needed, since you have already laid a layer of humus under the future lawn. But for greater effect, you can sprinkle the prepared area with starter lawn fertilizer in granules.
- Then compact the soil. This does not require a special skating rink and even a large barrel. Two small sheets of plywood or any material you can stand on is enough. You put one sheet, stand on it, put the second one next to it, go to it. And so on until the whole area is equal.
- Now you need to water the soil well with water and seeds can be sown. They must be dry. When buying, pay attention to the date of packaging, which is on the box. It is desirable that it was no more than two years ago.
- Try to sow evenly in all directions. The thicker you sow, the denser the sod will be and the more stable the lawn will be.
- Filling seeds with soil. A layer of 1 cm is enough. Watering with shallow sprinkling, so as not to erode the earth.
Advice! If there is neither peat nor sand, buy a construction sieve. Choose a place in the garden with dry soil and sift it through a sieve. You will get a great filling.
If it is cool at night or an invasion of birds is expected, you can cover the crops with a film. Under the film it is warmer by 5-7 degrees, the seeds will sprout faster. And the moisture that the seeds need for spitting will remain better in the shelter.
