Interior for children of different sexes. Children's room design for children of different sexes. Decorate with lighting fixtures

The easiest way is to divide the room into two parts in half, while the partition should only separate the beds from each other, and the day area (where they will play and do their homework) should be one.

You also need to designate personal zones using color, without affecting a single zone. If you do this, then the children will have their own little corner and with all this they will be able to communicate with each other throughout the day. Bunk beds are a very, very good way to save space, of course they have a place to be even in spacious rooms.

What is the benefit of this example? Here, children during sleep will not be in front of each other, while maintaining privacy. This saves more space in the game room. Concerning working area(table for homework) it should not be at different angles, one table and two chairs are enough.

Psychologists say that children, being facing each other, get to know each other better, and this has a positive effect on both the boy and the girl. What if the room is very small? Here is the bunk bed the best option, but you can choose other options that are both a place to sleep and a place for children's things. There are also beds with equipment for various games.

Choosing a color for a child's room. Here you have a choice of two options:

 • neutral gamma, suitable for both boys and girls. Moreover, the colors can be both calm - black and white, beige and brown gamma, and saturated, but not focused on a specific gender - yellow, orange, green.

 • Personal space. Each child should have their own space: their own bed, workplace, closet and other places to store personal items. Place the beds opposite each other, or on one side of the room, taking care of the division of space.

How to divide the nursery into zones. To divide the space in the children's room, a chest of drawers, a rack, bookshelf. Screens and sliding curtains are excellent for these purposes.

If the area of the nursery does not allow you to put two separate beds, pay attention to bunk or retractable models. Such furniture will save enough space for the play area. After all, a children's room is needed not only for sleeping, but also for activities and games.

Individual bedding. Make sure that your son and daughter have their own beautiful and original bedding. Nursery for children of different sexes

To begin with, we propose to divide the nursery for children of different sexes conditionally into 2 parts. In the one that will be designed for the girl, we arrange a bed with a canopy (in this way the baby can feel like a fairy princess). For the boy, we get a crib in the form of a racing car.

A place for games and reading can be shared. Install toy shelves on the wall. Here both dolls and cars will coexist peacefully. Until the children go to school, you can purchase one large double desk, at which they will draw and sculpt from plasticine. Then, when your kids grow up, you organize autonomous workplaces for them, but for now it will be convenient for them to be at the common table.

Try to use folding furniture in the nursery. It is quite convenient when the bed can be transformed into a comfortable chair and vice versa. Do not forget that the play area for children should be spacious enough to accommodate both the boy's toys and the girl's toys. In order to avoid quarrels, let everyone have their own shelf on which the child will be the full owner.

Give your child the opportunity to be alone!

It is very important that children have the opportunity to be in relative seclusion. Of course, you won’t have to rely on complete silence and isolation. However, it is quite possible to create the illusion of loneliness for each of the children's inhabitants. To do this, we propose to use the know-how known since the time of our grandmothers.

You can divide the room into two halves using a screen that will open at night or during the day, when one of the inhabitants of the room needs to be alone in order to relax or work out.

Related video:

If you think that such an accessory as a screen is rather old-fashioned, then you are deeply mistaken. Flexible folding partition can be made in various styles and find what you need is not difficult. You can use a fairly narrow cabinet instead of a screen. But this option for arranging furniture will not allow you, if necessary, to remove the closet to another place quickly and without outside help.

What colors to make a room for children of different sexes

If we talk about color solutions, then the nursery for children of different sexes should be decorated in neutral pastel shades. Choose something solid. Let it be a bright spot flooring or children's curtains.

Encourage the children to imagine and make suggestions about how to decorate the room. The walls of the room can also be decorated according to the wishes of the children. Let the girl's side be hung wall panels with a plant theme and the young artist's own drawings. And we suggest decorating the side of the boy with posters with your favorite characters - transformers or drawings with car models.

When the children grow up a little, guests will definitely come to them, the same fidgets as themselves. Therefore, you need to take care of where to seat them. Great solution in this case are soft pouffes stuffed with foam rubber. During the visit of guests, they can be brought into the nursery, and then taken from there and stored in the pantry.

Both boys and girls love to play on the floor. In this regard, we recommend laying a floor covering. At the same time, pay attention to the fact that it should not have too long a pile, since this circumstance will make it difficult to clean it daily.

The interior of the children's room for children of different sexes

The room should, in addition to creating beautiful interior for psychological comfort, organize a place for games and good rest, playing sports and completing school assignments, watching TV and meeting with friends.

Basic design rules

The design of a nursery for a girl and a boy depends on many factors. One of the determining factors is the size of the room. If the living conditions of the family allow, the largest and brightest room should be allocated for children. The basic rules for creating an interior in such a room can be combined into several groups.

If the area of the room is enough for two different zones, you should break it into the territory of the son and daughter using standard methods. For this, false partitions, screens, group arrangement of furniture are successfully used.

Visually, you can distinguish between zones:

 • with color combinations
 • use of unequal finishes for walls, floors and ceilings with different surface structures,
 • creating tiered, using different types of lighting and appliances.

Because in the life of a child important place occupies a full-fledged healthy rest, with special attention should be chosen the location and type of bed. It is desirable that each of the children has a separate cozy place to sleep, where no one would interfere with him.

Bed arrangement. In order to organize personal space, it is good to separate the beds with other pieces of furniture, for example, bedside tables, tables, cabinets, partitions. When beds are placed in corners or in a single line, they should be planned so that children sleep head to head.

If the room does not have enough space for equipping two full-fledged resting places, as an option, you can install bunk models that have become very popular. They allow you to significantly expand the free area of the nursery, which can be used for other purposes.

Choice of lighting. The lighting of the nursery should be bright enough, allowing you to do your favorite things, for example, read, assemble a designer, embroider, draw, etc. Psychologists recommend making the room well lit for the correct formation of the psyche and character of the child.

To provide full lighting, use natural and artificial light sources. It is better that the nursery has a common lamp and separate lighting for the areas of games, recreation, and the desktop. To obtain different amounts of illumination, dimmers, chandeliers with 2-3 or more brightness levels, convenient remote control are used.

Wall decoration. In the nursery, light-colored walls are used, usually in delicate pastel colors. In accordance with traditional views, you can separate part of the girl's room by using wallpaper or paint in pink shades. The zone for the boy is usually designed in the blue, green parts of the spectrum. If a small room does not allow each child to have his own space, it is usually decorated using neutral shades: beige, white, sand, golden.

furniture requirements. Furniture in the nursery for girls and boys is best made to order. It must be environmentally friendly and durable. In order not to visually clutter up a small space, its color should be combined with the shade of the walls, perhaps a little darker. Not recommended for children's black, gray colors and dark colors. It is allowed to make stylish color accents of bright, saturated shades.

In order to make the room more spacious, in the manufacture of furniture you need to choose practical models. small size, with spacious drawers, comfortable shelves, retractable structures, moving bedside tables.

It is necessary to use the interior space of the furniture as much as possible, free areas on the walls, between objects, in the corners, under the beds. An important element room is a desk. Its dimensions should allow both children to study together, install a computer, and conveniently place educational supplies. If there is space, it is better to set up two small tables in the room so that each of the children can study independently without interfering with the other.

Teenagers require increased attention to the interior design of their room. They already need less space for games, placement of a large number of toys. At the same time, there is a need for additional space for doing what you love, chatting with friends, placing musical equipment, video equipment.

There are already other requirements for the decoration of the premises. Often there is a desire to remove objects with a children's theme from the interior, to use new, more adult types of finishes. Because the adolescence quickly ends, you should not completely change the furniture and furnishings for expensive interior items in accordance with the changing tastes of children.

A little time will pass and teenagers will become adults with their own formed tastes and habits. Creativity with big amount finishing options as in the photo, make it possible to design a room for a boy and a girl so that they feel comfortable in the room, do not get annoyed and do not interfere with each other.

Using the wishes of the children, you can work out the decoration of the room together, turn the renovation process into a fun and friendly conversation.

Decorating a room for children of different sexes: zoning techniques

The design of a children's room for children of different sexes takes into account the characteristics of each child. All the nuances should be taken care of in advance, while the children are still small and this difference is not yet so obvious. The girl and the boy need their own territory separated from the general area. The created interior of the room for a boy and a girl should give at least a partial opportunity to retire.

What conditions should the interior for two children of different sexes meet:

 • Visually divide the room into two zones,
 • Provide privacy for every child
 • Consider the interests of two children,
 • Be practical and functional.

There is nothing impossible in such a task, the room can be made universal by age and divided into zones for two children. The ideas in the photo will guide you in what techniques will help transform the interior. Let's take a closer look at each of the options. detailed description and helpful tips.

Children's room zoning techniques

There are many ways to divide the interior into functionally different zones. In our case, we are talking about two zones in the room for a boy and a girl. This option can be implemented in large rooms, and if the room is small. It is only necessary to use a special zoning geometry in each case.

Techniques to help divide the interior into zones:

 • Color combination: walls, floor, bedding, paintings, curtains of different colors and themes,
 • Physical separation: partitions, screens, whatnots, curtains, canopies of various designs,
 • Zoning with furniture: beds with high headboards, table, nightstand, wardrobe, etc.

Decorating in different colors is a great way of visual zoning. It can be paint of different tones: cream and pale blue, turquoise and lavender and other combinations. Wallpaper with different patterns is the easiest way to create two zones. How to combine wallpapers, look at the photo of the best examples of design. All these techniques can be combined with each other to one degree or another, as well as used independently.

Zoning geometry of a nursery for a girl and a boy

The interior for two children of different sexes is practically unlimited in terms of furniture arrangement and various stylistic techniques.

parallel zoning. The beds are on opposite walls, and the room itself is divided into 2 parts along. This method is feasible in cases where a nursery for children of different sexes has an area of 14 m2 and is not elongated like a wagon.

It is worth arranging a place for study by the window, and placing beds along the walls, as well as lockers for clothes. Do not forget about the play area for both children in the free space, where you need to put a warm rug, a play tent or a toy box.

Wallpaper is better to use different colors, but one pattern. For example, stick lilac-striped wallpaper on one wall (for a girl), and pale turquoise on the other (for a boy). But you can do it differently, dividing the floor - completely or using rugs of different colors. Furniture can be of different colors, but it is much easier to choose bedding in two different styles.

A fun idea is to hang curtains of different colors and patterns on opposite sides of the window. The disadvantages of this separation are close eye contact, which does not allow children to fully retire. This nuance is removed by arranging canopies or curtains. Children really like the canopy - it is at the same time nice solution, and a play tent.

Perpendicular zoning. A small room may not allow parallel arrangement of beds along the walls. Maybe a perpendicular placement will work for your case. Beds should be placed perpendicular to one of the walls. In this case, they can be separated by a small partition, rack or cabinet.

When implementing this idea, you can make a color combination of the headboard wall. At the same time, the wallpaper should not only be of different colors, but of a different pattern - this is a more effective technique. For example, striped wallpaper with blue elements is for a boy, cream wallpaper with butterflies is for a girl. Other original ideas look at the photo - there are no boundaries for fantasy in choosing combinations.

It's great if the beds also come in different colors. Above the headboards, you can hang pictures of different themes for a girl and a boy, photos of the owners of the beds. Quite a spectacular technique - drawing the names of a girl and a boy on the wall using a stencil. In this case, the permutation will no longer be possible.

Zoning at an angle. Another option for a small room is placing cribs at an angle to each other. Moreover, such placement can coincide with the corner of the room, so each bed will have its own wall. In fact, each of the two children gets their own wall, along which you can put cabinets and bedside tables, as well as writing tables.

The interior will be much more interesting if the walls are made in fundamentally different colors. Tape 1/3 of the height of the two walls with the same striped wallpaper, and above with plain, but a different color for each wall.

Zoning "wagon". long and narrow room can only be divided in one way - the beds are one after the other along one wall. You can put a partition between two beds, or even better, hang a curtain on rings with the ability to move it. The result is a nursery for children of different sexes in the form of two separate rooms.

The design and decoration of the walls is carried out similarly to the previous options: wallpaper of different colors and patterns. A shallow cabinet can act as a partition - this is also an additional functional element.

Furniture for a nursery with two children of different sexes

Furniture can be a real solution to this puzzle. Even a very small room lends itself to zoning if you choose the right furniture:

 • Bunk beds - the upper part for the girl, the lower part for the boy. These can be absolutely amazing designs with lockers in the steps of the stairs and even a slide down from the second floor. Additional curtains and screens will help complement the idea,
 • Beds - transformers, retractable in cabinets, pencil cases in the daytime,
 • Various sets of beds, cabinets made of chipboard panels. They can be designed according to your sketch or selected photo.

Furniture will allow you to divide the space without forcing redevelopment and repairs.

Do you have one room for children of different sexes?

A shared room for young children is quite a valuable experience. This allows you to teach the guys to get along with each other, share space and toys. Thanks to this, brother and sister will have a strong relationship in the future. Also, your kids will not be bored, because they can constantly play together and do other things. If you have twins, then decorating their room may be a little more difficult, but the result is worth it.

Gender-neutral themes for the children's room. If you want a room for your children of different sexes to be decorated on a specific theme, you can choose one of the neutral options. Zoo, jungle, circus, ocean, music, playground, kittens, dogs, horses - this is just what immediately comes to mind. All kids love animals, so you can focus on this topic. The fairytale castle will also appeal to both the boy and the girl. Future men prefer dragons and knights, and young ladies dream of becoming princesses.

"Divide and Conquer". If your son insists on trucks and your daughter can't imagine a room without dolls, give each child a private area in the bedroom. Beds are recommended to be placed in different parts rooms. Let each child figure out how to decorate their own wall. An even simpler option is to use neutral shades, and place a large free board near the bed of your daughter and son.

Color schemes. When choosing tones for decorating a dormitory, you should avoid using purely feminine or masculine shades. Dark blue, gray, black look a bit heavy. At the same time, pink or lavender colors do not look very attractive from the boy's point of view. Basic tones and bright accents harmonize well together: blue, yellow, red, lilac, orange, etc. If you wish to choose a softer color scheme think of greens and browns. You can combine them however you like. This is a great solution for decorating a room in a plant theme.

Fabrics and bedding. The basic rule is that there should be no drawings and patterns on the fabrics and bedding of children that differ in female or male features. flower drawings- choice of girls. Trucks and trains immediately show that the main thing in the room is a boy. Stop at solutions such as a checkered or dotted pattern. Again, you can think of animal prints (horses, dogs, etc.). There is also an alternative solution. Each child can choose their own bedding. True, care should be taken to ensure that they look quite harmonious. It is possible to use plain fabrics.

Furniture. Unfortunately, when designing a common children's room, you can lose a lot of space. Your task is to choose furniture that will help save space. Bunk beds and loft beds with built-in chests of drawers for storage - perfect solution. Your son and daughter will grow up, but you will not soon have to spend money on buying new furniture again. If your babies are too young to sleep on bunk bed, get a product that can be divided and folded.

Personal space. Personal space - important factor, which should be considered when decorating a room for a boy and a girl. Let each child have his own zone in which he will spend time. You can use a canopy or a divider. Another option is tall chests of drawers or bookcases that divide the room into two areas. You also need to leave an open space where children can communicate and play together. The simplest solution is a curtain in the center of the room. At any time, kids can move it away and spend time together.

We offer you a lot of photo ideas and design options for a children's bedroom for two children of different sexes

Those parents who are lucky enough to have two children know well how important it is to maintain a demarcated personal space for each child in order to avoid quarrels, conflicts and resentment between children. If it is possible to allocate a room for each child, this problem will not affect you. But if there is only one room, and there are two children (especially if it is a brother and sister), you will have to show all your imagination and patience in order to share the room equally and give everyone their own corner. We hope our advice will help you solve this serious problem.

Planning and zoning options for each child

So, we are equipping and decorating a room for children of different sexes. In addition to this criterion, we will rely on their age and preferences in the interior. Do not neglect the opinion of children in solving this issue, find out what and in what colors he sees in his ideal room, what cartoon characters he likes. Children will tell you what the dream room should be. For the rest, guide them by following our advice.

You need to divide the room into 4 main areas - sleeping, study, play and storage space. If you have preschoolers, they won’t need a work area yet, so allocate more space for educational games, movement and sports. Schoolchildren will need more space in the study area - separate tables and necessarily separate computers, otherwise you cannot avoid quarrels and conflicts. With children of different ages, it’s more difficult, it will require both a play area and a work area, which means more space.

Consider various options plans in more detail.

sleeping area

For children of different sexes - the most sensitive moment. There are two layout options here:

 1. Divide the room exactly in half, so that no one is offended, with the help of a symbolic partition or wardrobe, arrange the boyish part in one tone, the girl's part in others, put two separate beds.
 2. In case the space of the room does not allow rational distribution of all zones, put a bunk bed, agreeing in advance with the children who will sleep on which tier. Emphasize the difference with drawings on the walls or with different colors of bedding, for example, darker ones for a boy, lighter ones for a girl. If the children are small and about the same age, consider a bunk bed with additional play elements, this can bring the interests of a brother and sister together.

Game Zone

You need to leave a lot of space for movement and games, especially if you are parents of small children. Boys definitely need to allocate a place for physical exercises, ideally this is a Swedish wall that does not take up much space. Girls, as a rule, are calmer and for them the play area is a place where you can have a tea party with dolls or read a book. Best suited for this. By the way, both children can use it, playing together in Board games.

study area

In the study area, be sure to create a workplace with a separate computer for each child, otherwise you risk separating brother and sister every evening. It is not necessary to put two huge ones, you can use modular systems (loft beds), where the bed is on the 2nd tier, and there is a compact workplace below.

If the area of the room does not allow for 2 loft beds, install one long tabletop, but in such a way as to provide both children with a full-fledged study area.

Children with a large age difference may not need two tables, so divide the space to accommodate both the study space for the older child and the play area for the younger.

Storage

Roomy for clothes is needed, especially for girls. To prevent conflict, divide the cabinet into two halves using different colors of facades. It's also nice to have a basket or chest of drawers for toys.

In a very small nursery, it will be enough to get by with bedside tables or drawers built into the bed, and place the bulk of things in a closet in the hallway or main room.

And one more planning tip! Resort to curtains for zoning a room for two children. You can always move them away if the children want to play together and, on the contrary, pull them back if someone wants to retire in their part of the room.

Choosing a color palette and zoning with it

Zoning a room for children of different sexes using color is one of the most successful and not cumbersome options for dividing a room into 2 parts. When choosing a color palette, remember that you have to please both the boy and the girl. There should be no prevailing pink flowers or dark shades, it is best to choose neutral or well-matched tones. More details about this arrangement are in Table 1.

It implies the design of the room in the same style without color division of the room into parts. The theme can be any - cartoons, jungle, animals, etc., but only if the children have similar interests. Options for dividing a room into 2 parts. When choosing a color palette, remember that you have to please both the boy and the girl. There should be no prevailing pinks or dark shades, it is best to choose neutral or well-matched tones.

Monochrome design

It implies color zoning using shades of the same color. For example, shades of purple. For a boy, darker plum or deep purple, for a girl, lighter and more delicate - lilac, violet, fuchsia, etc.

Ideal monochrome performance looks in neutral brown and beige tones. But so that the room does not turn out to be insipid, they should be diluted with bright accessories - lamps, colorful furniture, textiles, toys.

Contrasting design

This is a combination of different colors and the division of the room into a girlish and boyish part with its help:

 • Blue - yellow;
 • Green - pink;
 • Green - lilac;
 • Gray - lilac, etc.

Do not forget that zoning a room with color is not only the color of the walls, it is also the selection of textiles, bedding, furniture, accessories, carpets and much more. If you have divided the room into 2 parts, try to choose accessories that match the style for each half. So the children's room will become cozy and harmonious.

The use of modular and cabinet furniture for children of different sexes provides an infinite number of options for placement and optimal use of space. If you want to create an equivalent room for your son and daughter, there are many options to help you:

 • retractable and roll-out beds;
 • beds with shelving and built-in drawers and shelves under the podium;
 • loft beds with a workplace on the first tier;
 • chair-beds;

If you have an extra penny, do not buy ready-made furniture, it is better to make it to order, taking into account the area of the room, the age of the children and your preferences. With the help of modular and cabinet furniture, even the smallest nursery can be decorated.

Design nuances for rooms of different sizes

Design of a nursery in Khrushchev or a small room of 12 sq.m

Here are a few tricks to profitably and organically arrange a small 7-12 sq.m square space for a nursery in Khrushchev or just a small room:

 • walls - light, cold shades, less dark tones, wallpaper with vertical stripes;
 • - 3D drawings of a soft blue sky visually clean the ceiling, good lighting around the entire perimeter;
 • furniture - a bunk bed with built-in drawers, a long or retractable table top by the window, folding furniture for games - a table, an arena, etc.
 • storage - a shallow closet or a small chest of drawers for storage, use walls more for storing toys, textbooks, small things using wall shelves.
 • storage racks that can be used as partitions;
 • a long tabletop for two children and much more.

Children's design 16 sq.m

 • design - the possibility of dividing a room into zones using different colors or a thin, not bulky partition or curtain;
 • separate beds or loft beds with workplaces on the first tier;
 • a long tabletop with two computers (or laptops) or small separate tables;
 • a small shallow closet, divided into 2 halves.

Children's design 18 sq.m

On such an area you can put single furniture, a spacious closet, separate beds and much more. You can even create two independent parts of the room by partitioning it in half with a closet or shelving. The main thing is that there is enough light for both halves. In general, the design of such a large room is a complete flight of your imagination.

The interior of a children's room designed to accommodate two children of different sexes is sometimes an overwhelming task for parents, especially financially. The design and zoning of such rooms has many nuances, both in terms of ergonomics and in terms of design solutions. How to properly plan and divide the space for a boy and a girl - in our article.

Repairs in the room for a boy and a girl must begin with preliminary planning and zoning, because both children need their own personal space. But it is better to maintain a single design style, dividing the room with a color or another zoning method - this is what we will talk about.

At first glance, there are no pluses in the fact that a brother and sister will share one room, no. Especially if they are of different ages. However, this is not quite true:

Firstly, none of them will be bored and, if necessary, each can turn to the other for help or advice.

Secondly, it is living together that strengthens the relationship between brothers and sisters.

Thirdly, children learn to respect the personal space of another, not to spoil other people's things, and to better observe order and discipline.

Also, when decorating a room in different color shades, children understand their belonging to a particular gender.

It should be noted that by placing children in one room, parents in a sense save space, especially if they share a two-room apartment with their children. Well, the ideas of rooms for a girl and a boy will help to get out of the situation.

How to share a room for a boy and a girl

If we are talking about a room with an area of more than 18 square meters, then for separation, you can build full-fledged plasterboard partitions in order to allocate each child their own space, even if it is very small. Most often, for children of different sexes, parents allocate the largest and most spacious room in the apartment - this is the only way to talk about some kind of separation. The erected partition will help not only divide the room into two living areas, but also serve as a support for the built-in wardrobe.

But if the room has an area less than the specified one, then every square meter is counted and we are not talking about a capital partition. Then a reasonable question arises: how to zone a room for a boy and a girl living together?

 • Open shelving and cabinets. They serve not only as a partition, but also as storage places for toys and books.
 • Drapes, curtains. Light and airy curtains will not overload the space, but will make it clear that the room has two purposes.
 • Screen. The advantage of this item is its mobility - if you remove the screen, you get a large, spacious room. The screen can be used, for example, in the evening, when one of the children is already getting ready for bed, and the second is still doing homework.
 • Different floor levels. For one of the children, you can equip the space on the podium, and if there are high ceilings, equip the "attic".
 • Partitions from wooden beams and bars. The modern solution is to use wooden beams to share space. Such a partition allows light to pass through, but can be used as a support for a table or hanging shelves.

A modern approach to arranging the interior of a children's room for a girl and a boy will allow you to use all the space to the maximum, using it both horizontally and vertically.

What zones should be provided in a room for two children - a girl and a boy together, and which ones should be separated exactly?

The place near the window is considered the brightest and can be used to equip the working area. If the children are both schoolchildren, then they will need two desktops or one large one. Designers suggest using a window sill combined with a work surface arranged along the window. On both sides of the window, you can equip racks or shelves where educational materials will be stored.

It is customary to place sleeping places near the wall, away from sounds and drafts. In addition, children will need a place to play and create. If the guys attend some circle or section, then it will be necessary to provide a place for sports equipment, stationery and other tools that help children develop.

If it is decided to make one common closet for storage, then it is better to place it at the entrance, and so that both children have free access to it.

Children's room for a girl and a boy: design

After the parents have decided on the functional purpose of each zone and divided the room into two equal parts, you can begin to choose the style direction. The task is complicated by the fact that not every style is suitable for a girl and not every one for a boy. So, for example, the characteristic "girlish" direction of Provence does not fit in with the male brutality necessary for a teenage boy. Well, a purely masculine loft is certainly not suitable for a preschool girl. So, what style to choose for decorating a room for a girl and a boy together?

Modern or contemporary minimalism

The most ideal solution for a children's room where two children will live - a girl and a boy. Modern style involves the use of only a minimal set of furniture, the absence of unnecessary decor, the presence of pieces of furniture that do not clutter up the space. Thanks to its versatility, the style is suitable for both toddlers and teenagers, as well as for children of different ages. In minimalism, they are mainly used light colors and shades that push the boundaries and visually expand the space.

Modern style also involves the use of transforming furniture that can be moved and quickly changed its purpose. Another advantage modern style in its economy - parents do not need to bear additional costs for decorative details.

Classic

Of course, the classic in its classical sense (sorry for the pun) requires a fairly large space, however, for two children it is more appropriate to use modern classics with a minimum of decorative elements and stucco.

As the designers say, "classic is always in fashion", while it involves the use of natural materials and fabrics. And it is not at all necessary to have a rubber budget for arranging a beautiful classic bedroom for children.

Children's in classical style provides for the presence of minimal decor, for example, moldings on the ceiling, walls and furniture facades. It is not at all necessary to choose a central chandelier as lighting, although its presence characterizes the classical direction. You can complement the lighting with wall lamps that match the style of the entire room. Light shades create a relaxed and uncluttered space.

High tech

Technological progress makes us follow many rules, including the interior design of a room for a girl and a boy. Although high-tech can be called cold and restrained due to the abundance of metal and glass, it will fit perfectly into the life of the younger generation. The technical equipment of the room will look especially organic - computers, laptops, modern LED lighting, built-in cinema. But this does not mean at all that parents will go broke on buying technology, one or two eye-catching gadgets are enough.

As for the color for the high-tech style, in the case of a small room, it is better to give preference to light shades - white, gray, milky with bright splashes.

Loft

Many may call the loft too masculine style, brutal and cold. However, this is not quite true. The loft is multifaceted, so it can be safely used in the case of interior design for teenage boys and girls. Character traits loft:

 • open communications (in this case, the main thing is safety), in the nursery it can be ceiling beams, a decorative ventilation duct, lamps without lampshades;
 • high ceilings and large windows without textiles. Of course, this item hardly applies to our apartments, but if there is such an opportunity, then it is better not to close the windows from natural light with heavy curtains;
 • open brickwork or concrete walls. The role of such a decor can easily be performed by plaster or plaster bricks.
 • industrial elements - metal lamps, headboard or bedside table with rivets;
 • deliberately rough furniture, as if hastily made from improvised old boards.

Thematic interior for a girl and a boy

Many parents are afraid to decorate a room for two children of different sexes in a certain theme, arguing that children's tastes and hobbies change almost every day. A grown up child may no longer accept a somewhat childish interior with butterflies or cars on the wallpaper. Well, if the kids are also of different ages, then you can forget about the thematic interior? Not at all: you just need to choose a topic that will be relevant for a child at any age.

These areas could be:

 • lego style, where all interior elements are folded and laid out according to the principle of a transformer constructor;
 • forest or zoo (safari, jungle, in this case, the main color scheme will be green or yellow and their shades;
 • a medieval castle: in the girly half it can be something beautiful and magical, but in the boy’s half it can be chivalrous and more brutal;
 • marine theme, relevant for both kids and teenagers;
 • fairy tales and heroes of cartoons or comics.

Having chosen a topic, determine with what details this topic will be revealed: photo wallpaper or a fresco on the wall, textiles on the windows and on the bed, decorative elements in the form of wall posters, paintings, clocks. Even the design matters. bookshelves and work chairs.
Create a room design for a boy and a girl together with the children, listen to their opinion, because they will have to live in this room for more than one year, and the imposed interior can suppress creativity in a child.

Choosing a color for the nursery

When the question arises: how to make a room for a boy and a girl - two children of different sexes, you need to listen not only to architects and designers, but also to psychologists. Color content affects both the development of the child and the mood at a particular point in time. According to experts, the following colors and their shades are suitable for children's rooms:

 • Yellow is truly sunny, uplifting and increases brain activity. The most neutral shade of all, suitable for both boys and girls.
 • Blue or blue. If there is too much of this color, the interior becomes too cold and depressing. Well, in a dosed amount, shades of blue soothe. In a room for a girl and a boy, it can be used in conjunction with other shades and highlight the area for the boy.
 • Green. It is precisely known that green has a positive effect on vision and gives rest to the eyes. It is he who is associated with us with nature, which means that it gives some peace and tranquility. The interior for a boy and a girl can contain green shades in any of the zones.
 • Red and its shades. Quite aggressive, enhances brain activity and is more suitable for phlegmatic people. Well, in the nursery it should be used in small quantities, only to highlight some details.
 • Peach or pink. Pretty gentle, positive colors. Ideal for decorating a zone for a girl in a common room - in such a space she will be comfortable and cozy.

Of course, when a room for a boy and a girl is being designed together, the interior contains at least two pronounced colors - often this is how the space for children is divided. You don't need to be a design expert to understand that these shades should be combined with each other. The following are possible color solutions and combinations (for the space of a boy and a girl):

 • Blue + pink or peach;
 • Blue + yellow;
 • Green + yellow;
 • Green + pink;
 • Gray + pink;
 • Brown + cream;
 • Turquoise + beige.

Of course, this does not mean at all that the entire area for the child should be highlighted with one of the colors. For the background, it is better to choose neutral and light shades, while bright and contrasting tones are suitable for accents.

When choosing a room design for a boy and a girl with children, consider their color preferences, because only in such an interior will they be pleased to be and develop. It will be much easier to choose a color if the boy and girl like the same ones - in this case, you can designate personal zones only with different shades of the same color.

Furniture

Of course, the most important furniture in the room for two children is the bed. It is they who are allocated the most “trump” place - where there are no drafts. Most often, beds are placed with a headboard or one side to the wall. If the parents decided to use a two-tier structure, then most often it takes place along the wall.

bunk beds

How else can you put two beds in a room (you can find out from the article:), where do children of different sexes live? The most optimal arrangement is tiered, when the entire height of the room is used.

You can even “relocate” both children to the attic, under which to equip a work area or play area. This solution will especially appeal to parents who cannot allocate more than 10 square meters for two children.

Such furniture should always be safe: the bed is equipped with special railings. Please note that there should be enough space up to the ceiling for the child to sit comfortably.

Transformer beds

A sofa bed, an armchair bed or a sleeping place hiding in a closet - such transforming furniture will always save space, but at the same time provide a comfortable rest at night. Another furniture option is a bed that rolls out from under the podium. The bed itself in such structures is quite spacious, and during the day it can be hidden, freeing up space for games.

A sofa bed or chair bed will allow you to lie down and relax during the day, without wasting time folding and unfolding transforming beds. But such models take up more space.

Working space

Even if a girl and a boy living in the same room do not go to school yet, they still need a place to practice creativity, drawing, modeling and crafts. Moreover, it is unlikely that parents will want to make repairs in a couple of years. So, it is necessary to provide in advance a corner for arranging the working space.

If the children are already schoolchildren, then in addition to the desktop, they will need a rack or cabinet for educational materials and stationery. We have already said that it is more expedient to allocate the brightest place for study - near the window.

You can equip a spacious work area by using the surface of the window sill, combining it with the countertop. And on both sides of the window, you can make shelving or bookshelves.

Storage spaces

Storage spaces in the children's room for a boy and a girl are not only closets or wardrobes for clothes and shoes. Parents need to consider where toys, board games and books, stationery and study items will be placed.

If the children get along well with each other, then for them you can equip one spacious wardrobe, divided into sections. In this case, each child is allocated half of the closet, shelves and rods for clothes are built. Designers recommend looking at corner models of cabinets that save space.

Toys can be stored in drawers under the bed or on the lower shelves of the closet. But for the office and books, you will have to equip separate places, closer to the workplace. After all, while doing homework, the child should not be distracted by anything, which means that all important books and supplies should be at hand.

Lighting

To keep the eyes of the kids healthy, and to create a cozy atmosphere, you will have to think over the lighting scheme at the planning stage. After all, the laying of the electrical wire and switches depends on where and what lamps will be located.

When living in a room of two children, and even of different sexes, one central chandelier will obviously not be enough, so you will have to consider the placement of the following light sources:

 • main lighting - ceiling built-in or central;
 • directional light source for work and study;
 • night lights in private areas that can be turned on if necessary.

When choosing a lighting design, it should be taken into account that in the children's room there should not be a sharp transition between light and shadow, and the light itself should not tire the eyes. So, another important aspect is the choice of the right lamps. Modern LED bulbs with neutral light perfectly cope with the task.

Depending on the chosen style for a children's room for two children of different sexes, you can also mount the illumination of niches, furniture, cornices.

Room for a girl and a boy together - photos of interiors

Of course, you can talk a lot about the cohabitation of two children of different sexes, but, as they say, “it’s better to see once than hear a hundred times” (or read), so we have prepared an impressive collection of photo ideas for room interiors for a boy and a girl together. Perhaps the photos seen will help many parents arrange such a room in their apartment, creating a cozy and safe environment for their children.

Decorating a child's room has always been a challenge. Here it is necessary to take into account a lot of nuances relating not only to the tastes of the child, but also to his psychology. In this light, the desire to make a small nursery for children of different sexes become a real paradise in the house sometimes seems like an impossible task at all, and parents are trying to get out of the situation by initially resettling their son and daughter in different rooms. This is fundamentally wrong. After all, being in a common area will oblige children to share space and toys, which will allow them to learn how to get along and in the future they will certainly develop strong family relationships.

Where to begin

It is not at all necessary to involve a professional designer in the design of a nursery, because for kids it is not a trendy style that is important, but comfort and simplicity. The room must certainly have a place for joint activities or games and individual zones. If possible, most of the space should remain free, and the furniture used in the setting should not have angular and rough shapes.

If there is an irresistible desire to make a themed design for a small nursery for children of different sexes, then use neutral options such as jungle, zoo, circus, music, playground. These are just the suggestions that first come to mind. Agree that kids just adore animals, so the presence of cats, dogs, horses will definitely appeal to them. Both children will like the fairytale castle. What future man has not dreamed of becoming a knight and fighting a dragon? Well, every young lady feels great in the role of a princess.

"Divide-divide in half"

Whether you like it or not, you will definitely have to share the space in the nursery. It can be done different ways. Creating a room for children, you can use an interesting technique. Complete the walls in a single fabulous pattern, and highlight the sleeping areas of your son and daughter with accessories that emphasize the gender of the child sleeping here.

A more radical solution for dividing the nursery interior into parts will be painting opposite walls in different colors. The reception is quite spectacular, besides allowing you to fill the space with any children's paraphernalia without restrictions. The only thing that should not be done in this case is to play on the sharpness of contrasts. Such an approach can alienate a brother from a sister, and you, equipping a room, are pursuing a diametrically opposite goal. It is in your interest not to emphasize differences, but to enable children to learn to coexist peacefully in the comfortable and bringing together atmosphere of a small nursery for children of different sexes.

The son cannot imagine a room without trucks, and the daughter definitely needs to put dolls in it? Great! Designate a personal area for each baby and let them decorate it on their own. The beds, in this case, will be correctly placed in opposite parts of the room. The easiest way is to decorate the room in neutral colors, and place a wide free board near the children's sleeping places, on which favorite toys could “live”.

Color palette for a small nursery

When choosing tones for a common nursery, try not to get hung up on purely feminine or strictly masculine palettes.

It just so happened that pink is recognized as a girlish color, and blue as a boyish color, however, it is absolutely not possible to delimit space using this pair. suitable option for a small nursery designed for children of different sexes. In addition to the fact that blue refers to cold tones, it also suppresses children, making them apathetic. Pink, for all its colorfulness, is very annoying for teenage boys and can complicate the transition process. The solution can be the use of halftones and color combinations. For example, the coldness of blue can be complemented by the juiciness and vitality of yellow.

When choosing tones for a common nursery, try not to get hung up on purely feminine or strictly masculine palettes. It will be difficult to perceive the presence of dark blue, gray or black colors in such a room. The space in the nursery should certainly be cheerful, bright and warm, so feel free to introduce bright cheerful accents into the main tones. Do not be afraid to experiment with red, yellow, lilac, blue colors. For hyperactive children, green and brown tones should be introduced into the interior. Combine them however you like. With their help, you can decorate a stunning nursery in a plant theme.

Well perceived by the developing psyche and bright interiors, so they also do not need to be abandoned.

Children's zoning rules

To make the room comfortable for both the son and the daughter, four zones must be organized in it:

 1. Play space;
 2. work area;
 3. sleeping places;
 4. Area for storing personal belongings.

Naturally, we strive to give growing children the most spacious room in the house, however, it does not always meet the needs. If the room is spacious enough and has a large window, then there are no problems with organizing the working area. Here you can put tables for both kids. But in a small nursery for children of different sexes with a tiny window, it will be possible to equip a workplace for only one child. And this place should be given to the "leader". In a situation where children have a large age difference, the workspace is provided to the youngest. This is motivated by the fact that the baby goes to bed earlier, and the older one will not bother him with his walking.

Individual territories for children of different sexes are always demarcated visually. This is easy to do using the "girl" and "boy" style. It is possible to perform zoning using the color scheme, but more effective method visually divide the room into personal zones - these are partitions. They are strongly recommended to use if the children have a big age difference. Separated from the baby, the teenager's recreation area, if possible, should also accommodate a personal table for classes. A wardrobe, a rack, a high cabinet, or maybe a light screen or a thick curtain can act as a monumental partition. Experts recommend making a border in the nursery along a long side wall and be sure to ensure that enough light enters the separated area.

This method of dividing the territory is simply ideal for narrow, elongated rooms. In a square nursery, parallel zoning will look more relevant. The beds are placed against opposite walls, and between them, directly in front of the window, a desk is placed.

According to psychologists and designers, bunk beds do not violate the rules for organizing individual spaces, so if you are ready for cardinal decisions, then you can safely build suspended structures and create second floors. By the way, this will probably the best way zone a small room.

The subtleties of arranging sleeping places in a small nursery for children of different sexes

To save the already scarce space in a small nursery, beds installed on podiums will help.

Equipping sleeping areas for children of different sexes is the most piquant issue in the interior of a nursery. In a small room, even one bed can absorb the lion's share of the area, let alone a pair of beds.

This problem will have to be solved with the help of cabinet furniture of a special layout, namely:

 1. bunk beds;
 2. loft beds;
 3. chair-beds;
 4. sofas-transformers.

In the case when children are constantly fighting for leadership, before buying a bunk bed, you should find out which of the children prefers to sleep where. If it was not possible to come to an agreement, then it is necessary to use chair-beds or transforming furniture in the interior. In addition to the fact that all disputes will be resolved with its help, it will also leave enough space for games when assembled.

Bunk beds will not fit in rooms with low ceilings. It will be stuffy for children to sleep on them.

To save the already scarce space in a small nursery, beds installed on podiums will help. In the catwalks equip drawers, in the bowels of which it will be possible to store things and toys. You can also place cribs along one wall, but in this case they will have to be separated by a nightstand, curtain or portable screen, otherwise creating a private environment will not work.

Textiles for children

In a nursery for kids of different sexes, there should not be fabrics and beds with feminine or masculine patterns and prints. Floral patterns will tell about the privileges of a girl, and robots and cars will emphasize that a boy is in the lead in the room. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to use fabrics with a geometric pattern, a cage, a strip, and the like in everyday life. You can stop on a series with animals. You can give the right to choose bedding to the children themselves, but in this case you need to make sure that the selected sets look harmonious in the interior of a small nursery for children of different sexes. May be, optimal solution will be the use of plain fabrics. The choice is now up to the parents.

How to furnish a nursery

Choosing children's furniture, you need to be guided not by personal tastes, but by the age of the children. If your kids are under the age of four, then the nursery should be furnished with light, safe furniture that will not restrict space for movement. Children under the age of ten need a practical and comfortable furniture without sharp corners. If we talk about tables, then they should be chosen with such a coating that it would not be difficult to wipe off paints, felt-tip pens, glue and other means that children like to use in their work. After ten years, the child begins to form his own taste, so when buying furniture, you must definitely take into account the wishes of your son and daughter. Buy furniture that is not heavy so that teenagers themselves can move it if they wish and update the interior in their room. Any piece of furniture that you plan to install in a small nursery for children of different sexes must be made exclusively from natural materials, be durable and reliable, so do not buy non-certified products in order to save money. This can cost you and your children dearly.

Accessories for children's interior

The correct design of space for children of different sexes is the key to the desired development of babies. Living in a well-made and well-thought-out room, children will be able to find inspiration and will certainly reveal their talents. In the difficult interiors of small children's rooms for children of different sexes, elements should be introduced that emphasize their hobbies and age difference. Multifunctional and ergonomic furniture perfectly copes with this task.

In addition to cabinet furniture, be sure to find a place for a small Swedish wall. With its help, you can easily direct the energy of children in a useful direction. In addition, the sports wall can very clearly highlight the zones in the room. Since boys are more inclined to physical activities, a sports corner is usually installed on their territory. In the girlish part of the room, bright cushions, a canopy over the bed, a small mirror and the presence of other accessories that are cute for a little female heart are always appropriate. The content of smooth forms in the interior, the presence of light colors and contrasting attributes will help to recreate the illusion of spaciousness.

If there is a child in the family, this is happiness. And two children - double happiness. But what if the children are of different sexes, and they have only one room for two. Can you accommodate them comfortably? It is necessary to develop a design for a children's room for two children of different sexes in such a way that there is enough space for both, and each of them has his own separate corner.

The choice of option is influenced by the area of the room, and its shape, number of windows, location front door. And while the children are small, the design is not complicated - the main thing is that mom has everything at hand.

But for schoolchildren or teenagers, a lot needs to be foreseen and thought through. If the room is large, there are more opportunities. But even apartments in Khrushchev do not stop interior designers.

And we will begin the development of design with zoning, that is, with the definition of what should be in the children's room.

 • Sleeping area.
 • Recreation area - do not confuse with the bed.
 • Desk.
 • If possible, a sports corner and a zone for general games.
 • A personal corner for everyone.

Athletic kids will need more space for physical activity, "nerds" - a spacious table for study and self-development. If a recreation area and a sports, play corner can be shared, then the situation is different with personal space. This area is extremely important to consider in the design.

As for the bed and the desk, they can be separate for each of the children, but located side by side.

When zoning, it is important to consider the personal hobby of each child. Be prepared for the fact that such corners may not be the same. For example, you can embroider near the window in the chair, but lay out the railway, build castles, roads in a tiny area will no longer work.

What if the kids are different ages? Then the play area is set up on a grand scale for the baby, and the work area (away from the play area) for the teenager. And you have to sacrifice something, for example, install a bunk or hanging bed.

Choosing shades

It has already been invented before us that the color blue is boyish, and pink is girlish. But in a small room, such contrasting colors should not be used to divide the room into two halves.

In this case, it is better to give preference to a neutral range of colors, while it can be bright (even desirable) or pastel.

Beware of using black, brown and any other dark colors - the nursery should be joyful and positive. Look at the photo - diverse interiors should inspire you.

 • Lilac, lavender, green, blue shades are good for a bright, warm room, the windows of which face south.
 • Yellow, warm lavender, beige tones will “warm up” a room located in the north.
 • White color is good in any room. But will it be practical and not boring? You can complement it with accents of red, electric blue or bright green - generously, without stint.
 • You have to be careful with black. They can only correct the room - visually "raise" the ceilings or divide the room into zones.

Another thing is if the footage of the nursery allows you to divide it into two equal parts. This is the simplest nursery design for children of different sexes. Precisely on the same to avoid quarrels. Then, with the help of a partition, we divide the room.

one piece we make blue and blue shades, cars, designers, posters with the terminator, superheroes or transformers for our son.

second we take away for the daughter - pink or beige wallpaper flowered, ruffled pillows, dolls and a house for them, soft toys, a dressing table.

Such a room will be comfortable for small children, and for schoolchildren, and for adult teenage children, and for children of different ages.

Important! This technique is ideal for rooms with two windows, it is good in a rectangular room. If the nursery area is large and elongated, and the window is located on its narrow wall, then such a separation can deprive one of the children sunlight. And this is already bad.

The general color design can be in three styles.

 1. Monochrome. Each zone is painted in its own shade, but belonging to the same color spectrum: plum and lilac, lilac and fuchsia, purple and violet. But by all means it will be necessary to dilute this monochrome with bright details - pillows, lampshades, textiles, furniture facades.
 2. General background. The whole room is finished in one color. In this case, it is zoned with the help of decor - posters, stencil drawings on the walls, the same textiles, furniture, screen or curtain.
 3. A game of contrast. Opposite shades are chosen for the girlish and boyish parts of the room, harmonizing with each other: lilac and gray, pink and green, yellow and dark blue, gray and pink, light purple and green, sand and brown, etc.

You can connect stylistically two zones separated by a partition with accessories. Boys have pictures framed in wine or yellow frames, while girls have blue pillows on the bed. Shelves of the same color and configuration, present on both the women's and men's sides, can become another link in the interior.

Functional furniture

Even in a small children's room, it is necessary to create all the conditions for a comfortable and safe pastime for each of the children. But at the same time, you can’t force it with furniture. Therefore, we focus on multifunctional, compact furniture.

 • Clothes can be stored together in one closet.
 • And put personal small items in ottomans, which will also serve as seats.
 • Two desks may not fit into the room. But one, but elongated, but on the entire wall with a window - easily.
 • Instead of the usual chairs, use bean bags. As unnecessary, they can be folded on top of each other in the corner.
 • Hanging shelves securely attached to the wall will help reduce injuries and accommodate a children's library, Barbie collection or cars.
 • If you hang a TV panel on the wall, then the free area on the floor will increase.

Important! This is a children's room, and even for two. Therefore, furniture must be safe. Everything hanging is securely attached. Countertops, top panel of chests of drawers and bedside tables - with rounded corners. The top bed should have safety rails.

The bed can be like this.

 • Bunk. Because of the bunk bed, disagreements may arise - each of the children will want to sleep upstairs. Draw will solve the problem. Whoever pulled it out sleeps there constantly or for one week, the second child spends the second week upstairs at night.
 • With pull-out extra bed.
 • Separate beds located against opposite walls.
 • Separate beds running along one of the walls (if the room is elongated).
 • Beds that stand against adjacent walls and form the letter G.

Advice: note the steps leading to the second bed. These are ready-made boxes for storing toys, books, clothes. But there is still a huge space under the bottom bed.

Also interesting solution for the interior, a study or games area on a raised platform can become, and under the podium, you can leave a niche for two beds.

The type of bed can be anything: a carriage for a little princess or an alcove and a typewriter or “tree house” for a young gentleman.

Surface finishing

If the choice of color for decorating a room takes place with the children, then it is better to choose the materials for the walls, ceiling or floor.

Here the main requirement is environmental friendliness and safety.

 • The walls are pasted over paper wallpaper or stained water-based paint. plastic, vinyl, Oil paint are not allowed. Part of the wall of the boy and the girl can be made cork (and frame it in a frame of the very connecting shade that we have already talked about).
 • The floor is wooden or cork. The latter is both soft and warm. It is advisable to make a substrate that absorbs noise, otherwise you will not envy the neighbors from below.
 • Stretch ceilings are beautiful, but no one guarantees that an airplane or a dart, flying, will not touch the canvas. It is not necessary to cover the ceiling with polystyrene foam plates - it will not breathe.
 • Carpeting is acceptable on the floor, but with a short pile, otherwise cleaning will be daily.

For windows, you need to choose curtains made from fabrics that attract dust the least. And give up assemblies, ruffles, fringes and draperies.

Lighting

Since the children's room, albeit small (especially for children of different sexes), is a multifunctional room, there should be several sources of lighting.

 • There is one lamp on the table, but with a lampshade in the form of the letter T, or two small ones. (Example - cool table lamp from LEGO)
 • The same small floor lamps will be at the cribs, if space is provided for them. Otherwise, they will save the position of the sconce.
 • Install a ceiling lamp or several spotlights near the play area. A wall sconce or floor lamp will not work - a child can accidentally break or drop them.
 • A central chandelier is also needed.

Plafonds, lampshades should not be traumatic - this time. And secondly, they must completely cover the light bulb so that the glass from the lamp does not accidentally scatter around the room.

Finishing, furniture should be of high quality and selected by parents. But it is better to buy interior decor items or do it yourself with your children.

So they will feel their involvement in the sacrament of turning the room into their own corner in the apartment.
