Installation of a roof from a metal tile - features of laying. Roofing from a modular metal tile. Laying and installation of modular metal tiles Video - Laying metal tiles

How to lay a metal tile? This question is asked by almost all developers who have chosen this modern, practical and durable material for their home. We will try to tell in the most detailed way what technology of metal tile installation is recommended by its manufacturers and which metal tile installation scheme is most preferable.

The main advantages of metal tile modules are good strength and high fire-fighting properties.

In addition, you will learn how the roofing "pie" works, what materials and tools will be needed to build the roof, and much more. We hope that our instructions for laying metal tiles will be useful to both developers and builders, regardless of whether you are building a house or making a canopy from metal tiles.

Metal tile: installation technology

A design made according to this scheme, with the proper selection of materials, will provide you with a reliable and durable roof.

Briefly about the roofing "pie". Before starting the installation of a metal tile (you can download the video or watch it a little lower), let's recall some concepts and a diagram of the roofing "pie". It got its name because of the large number of layers that perform various functions. It is this design, with the proper selection of materials, that will provide you with a reliable and durable roof.

Regardless of whether you do the installation of metal tiles with your own hands or hire installers, it is important to clearly understand that the roof is a rather complex structure, during the construction of which it is necessary to strictly follow the recommendations for installing metal tiles that are given by manufacturers, as well as all building codes and regulations.

Constantly keep under control the entire installation of metal tiles (you can download the video instruction or watch it here), since the consequences of poor-quality work may not appear immediately. So, poorly laid steam and waterproofing can lead to the accumulation of condensate, deterioration of thermal insulation properties, and rotting of wooden structural elements. Keep in mind that, only by observing all the rules for installing metal tiles, you can build a reliable and durable roof.

Metal tile and installation of structural elements is carried out according to the following sequence (scheme N 1):

The technology of installation of a roof made of metal tiles implies mandatory protection of the insulation from the side of the MCH with the help of film waterproofing, and from the side of the premises - film vapor barrier.

  1. Rafter system.
  2. Counter rails.
  3. Waterproofing film.
  4. Bars of a vertical crate.
  5. The initial bar of the horizontal crate.
  6. Bars of a horizontal lathing.
  7. Additional crate.
  8. Wind board.
  9. Gutter bracket.
  10. Cornice plank.
  11. Metal tile.
  12. Roof ridge.
  13. Skate seal.
  14. Hearing window.
  15. Thermal insulation.
  16. Vapor barrier.
  17. Attic lining.

Tools and equipment

Installation of Monterrey metal tile and its analogues must begin with the preparation of the necessary tool. You will need:

1. Manual scissors for metal.
2. Hacksaw (with fine teeth).
3. Cutting shears for metal.
4. Special nozzle for a drill for cutting metal.
5. Electric nibblers.
6. Electric jigsaw.
7. Circular saw.
8. Bulgarian with an abrasive wheel.

  • tool for cutting sheets of metal (MCH);
  • screwdriver (preferably cordless);
  • hammer of medium size;
  • long straight rail or rule;
  • marker.
  • scissors for metal (manual and electric);
  • hacksaw or electric reciprocating saw with appropriate blades;
  • electric cutting shears;
  • jigsaw;
  • circular saw with victorious teeth.

At the end of the work, carefully remove the metal filings, otherwise they, rusting, will spoil the polymer coating of the MP.

Attention! In no case do not cut the metal tile with tools with abrasive wheels ("grinder"). Otherwise under the influence high temperatures not only the polymer layer will be destroyed, but also the zinc coating. The result will be disappointing: a rapid rusting process will begin, rusty streaks will appear on your roof.

Installation of metal tiles (Monterey and analogues)

If thermal insulation boards have already been purchased, then the pitch of the rafters will depend on their width, since subsequently the insulation will be inserted between the roof rafters.

The step of the rafters under the metal tile should be in the range of 550-900 mm. Keep in mind that if you have already purchased thermal insulation boards, then the pitch of the rafters will depend on their width, since subsequently the insulation will be inserted between the roof rafters. As a material for rafters, as a rule, a bar with a section of 150x50 mm is chosen.

After the rafters are installed, it is necessary to perform control measurements of the slopes. Check the squareness and flatness of the structure, for this, measure the diagonals of the slopes. Small deviations (up to 10 mm) are acceptable, they can later be hidden with additional elements.

Please note that if a metal tile is used for the roof, the slope of the slope must be at least 14 °. The length of the sheets is determined by the main size - the length of the slope. It is measured from the ridge to the eaves, taking into account the eaves overhang (at least 40 mm). If your slope is more than 6 m long, then the sheets must be broken into two or more pieces, which are then laid with an overlap. The overlap of the metal tile should be about 150 mm. Of course, when using long sheets on a slope, fewer joints are obtained, but it is much more difficult to lay them than short ones.

The length of the insulation should be 2-3 cm more than the distance between the rafters.

With diurnal temperature fluctuations, condensation may appear on the lower surface of the MP. Also, warm air from the house, containing moisture vapor, penetrates into the cold under-roof space. Excess moisture leads to wetting of the insulation layer, and consequently, its thermal performance deteriorates. As a result, the roof freezes, ice forms on the metal tile, rafters and crates rot, mold appears and collapses. interior decoration premises.

To avoid all these troubles, the installation manual for metal tiles of any manufacturer strongly recommends using insulation of the required thickness. In addition, the technology of installation of a roof made of metal tiles implies mandatory protection of the insulation from the side of the MCH with the help of film waterproofing, and from the side of the premises - film vapor barrier.

To remove moisture vapor from the under-roof space, it is necessary to create natural ventilation, that is, to ensure free movement of air from the roof eaves to its ridge. To do this, a free space (about 40 mm) is left between the MCH and the waterproofing film by means of the crate. On the cornice overhangs, when they are filed, gaps are left, and in rubber seal special holes are released from the ridge.

Roll out the waterproofing horizontally on the rafters. Start from the eaves, making a sag of about 20 mm. Make an overlap between adjacent panels (approximately 150 mm). Films of the Yutafol or Yutacon brand should be placed outward with the side that has a colored strip along the edge. Flipping the film is not allowed. On the market today you can find a sufficient number of certain roofing films. Consult with managers about the features of their application.

1. Rafter leg.
2. Waterproofing material.
3. Control grid.
4. Lathing.

After installation waterproofing material can be installed at the same time roofing outside and thermal insulation inside the building. Install heat-insulating boards between the rafters, leaving a gap of at least 20 mm for the Yutafol or Yutacon waterproofing, otherwise the film will lose its properties. If you purchased Tyvek or Yutavek brand film, there is no need to make a gap.

On the inner surfaces of the rafters, fix the vapor barrier "Yutafol H Silver" or "Yutafol H 110" with a stapler. Lay the vapor barrier sheets with an overlap, hermetically connecting them with adhesive tape. After completing this stage of work, you can begin the interior lining (if it is an attic floor).

Carry out the crate from antiseptic-treated beams with a section of 50x50 mm and edged boards 32x100 mm (approximate values). First, nail falling beams onto the rafters over the waterproofing film from the ridge to the eaves, and then fasten the batten boards on them.

Take the first board of the crate (if you count from the cornice) thicker than the others (about 10-15 mm). Now the most important thing is to maintain the necessary distances between the boards. If you have a Monterrey metal tile, the installation of the second board must be carried out, stepping back from the bottom edge of the first board 300 mm (measure to the middle of the second board being nailed).

Before mounting the metal tile, in the inner junction of the slopes, the bottom bar of the valley is fastened with self-tapping screws to the solid crate. If the planks need to be joined, an overlap is made (100-150 mm).

The same distance for MCH "MP Maxi" is 350 mm. The center distance of all subsequent boards of the crate (32x100 mm) for the "Monterey" or "Supermonterey" MCH is 350 mm, for the "Maxi" MCH - 400 mm. If you have made a rafter pitch of more than 1000 mm, use thicker batten boards.

Perform a continuous crate in the valleys, near the chimneys, along the perimeter of the dormers and dormers. On both sides of the ridge, nail two additional edged boards, and lift the end strips above the ordinary crate, to a height equal to the height of the MCH profile.

Before mounting the metal tile, in the inner junction of the slopes on a continuous crate, fasten the bottom bar of the valley with self-tapping screws. If the planks need to be joined, overlap (about 100-150 mm). Then mark and cut (if necessary) the MCH sheets. Mount the metal tile from the bottom up.

On top at the junction of sheets (it rarely looks beautiful) install decorative element- the top bar of the valley. Attention! Junction nodes are the weakest point of the roof. Therefore, so that later you do not have to repair metal tiles, approach their device especially carefully.

To ensure a hermetic adjoining of the roof from the MCH to the chimneys and walls, an internal apron is made on the slope. Use the lower junction bars for its manufacture. Attach the plank to the pipe wall and mark the top edge of the plank on the brick. Then, along the marked line with the help of a grinder, punch a strobe. After chasing is completed, remove dust and rinse the working section of the wall with water.

Start installing the inner apron from the wall of the pipe located on the underside of the slope (from the side of the eaves, not the ridge). Cut the bar in place, install and secure with self-tapping screws. Using the same principle, install the apron on all remaining sides of the pipe. If you have to join the planks, overlap (about 150 mm). Process the edge of the apron wound into the strobe silicone sealant(it is better if it is colorless).

Fasten the gutter holders to the bottom board of the crate. Their method of attachment and pitch is determined by the type of drainage system used.

Then, under the bottom edge of the inner apron, put a flat sheet, the so-called tie, which will provide water drainage. Direct the tie either into the valley or down to the roof eaves. Along the edge of the tie, using pliers and a hammer, make a rim.

Mount MCH sheets on top of the apron and tie. After laying the roof covering around chimney, proceed to the manufacture and installation of the outer apron. For its manufacture, use the upper junction bars. Install them in the same way as the lower ones, only do not insert the upper edge into the strobe, but fasten it directly to the wall.

Attention! All movements on the roof from the MCH must be carried out only if safety measures are observed. Wear soft, comfortable, non-slip shoes. Step only into the deflection of the wave. Put on the installer's belt and fasten the tether.

Fasten the gutter holders to the bottom board of the crate. Their method of attachment and pitch is determined by the type of drainage system used. So read the instructions that come with it. Pay special attention to the location of the edge of the gutter. It should be below the edge of the metal tile by 25-30 mm. This is necessary to maintain the integrity of the gutters when snow layers leave the roof.

If drainage system has a rectangular cross section, the gutter is simply inserted and fixed in the holders. The cornice strip is attached to the roof lathing, while the lower edge of the strip overlaps the edge of the gutter. The waterproofing film is removed above the eaves (to drain condensate).

When installing the gutter round section you need to bring its rear edge into the locking protrusion on the holder. The cornice strip is installed according to the above method. Roofing film is also displayed above the cornice strip.

Installation of metal tiles - instructions for installing skylights

The number of windows required for a comfortable level of attic lighting can be determined by the ratio of the usable glazing area to the area of the room. Values from 1:8 to 1:12 are recommended.

Let's make a small digression and consider the option of a roof with skylights. The number of windows required for a comfortable level of attic lighting can be determined by the ratio of the usable glazing area to the area of the room. Values from 1:8 to 1:12 are recommended. That is, if your attic has an area of 100 sq.m, then the total area of \u200b\u200bwindows should be 10 sq.m. It is recommended to install skylights at a height of 90-110 cm from the floor level. When choosing windows, also keep in mind that two small windows located at some distance will give more light than one large one.

In addition, you can install skylights in groups, horizontally, vertically or in combination. As a rule, windows are installed on the crate with simultaneous fastening to the rafters. Although there may be some peculiarities depending on the manufacturer skylights. If the horizontal dimensions of the window do not match the pitch of the rafters, a partial change in the truss structure will be required. In this case, it is recommended to install a rafter fragment and additional horizontal counter rails that fix it. The opening under the window should exceed its dimensions by 40-60 mm in the horizontal plane and by 45 mm in the vertical plane. Usually the installation of skylights is not difficult, since each window has detailed instructions for installation.

The first sheet is aligned along the end of the roof and is fixed with one self-tapping screw in the upper part. At the same time, a visor made of metal tiles (removal) of the order of 40 mm is made at the eaves.

Align the first sheet along the end of the roof and secure with one self-tapping screw in the upper part. At the same time, make a visor of metal tiles (removal) of about 40 mm at the eaves. Lay the second sheet with an overlap on the first (if you are mounting from right to left) or bring the edge of the second sheet under the first - when mounting from left to right.

Between themselves, connect the sheets with self-tapping screws in the upper part of the overlap, while not screwing them to the crate and provide them with the opportunity to move relative to the self-tapping screw holding the first sheet in the upper, ridge part.

Lay the third sheet in the same way as the second. Align all three sheets connected to each other parallel to the eaves. If it is necessary to join the sheets along the length, lay them in the order indicated in Figure B. Attention! If your metal tile is equipped with a protective film, be sure to remove it during installation.

Fasten the lower part of the sheet with self-tapping screws to the sole of the MCH wave. Step through the wave. Arrange the subsequent rows of self-tapping screws in a checkerboard pattern, also alternating them through the wave. Fasten the side overlaps of the sheets with self-tapping screws for each ridge. The estimated consumption of self-tapping screws during the installation of metal tiles is 6-8 pieces / sq.m of roofing.

Attention! When buying a metal tile, check with the supplier for the terms of the guarantee. The fact is that some manufacturers provide a guarantee for the MCH only if they use self-tapping screws of a strictly defined brand. Therefore, advice: buy self-tapping screws from a metal tile supplier.

At the ends of the roof, install end strips with an overlap of 50 mm. Fix them with self-tapping screws through 550-600 mm. Use self-tapping screws 80 mm long on the top, 28 mm on the side. Trim the planks if necessary.

Under the ridge, a curly seal must be placed, after releasing the ventilation holes.

Skate bars can be flat or round. Start installing the round ridge bar by fixing flat or conical plugs on its ends with self-tapping screws or rivets (choose their shape in accordance with the shape of your roof). For a flat ridge, no plugs are required.

Place a curly seal under the ridge, after releasing the ventilation holes. Install a flat or round ridge on the laid seal. Place ridge screws 80 mm long through the MCH wave. Make an overlap of 100 mm between the individual ridge panels.

When roofing, the most difficult thing is to cover a complex roof. Here it is necessary to choose the right material. One of the best suitable options is a modular metal tile. Even one person can mount it on the roof of a complex configuration. And what are the other advantages of a modular metal tile, and what are the nuances of its use?

Material Features

Modular metal tile is gaining more and more popularity. Manufacturers offer many types of this modern roofing material. But, they all share one main feature. Modular metal tiles are not produced in sheets, the length of which sometimes reaches 6-8 meters, but in small modules, hence the name. For other characteristics, this type of roofing material does not differ from the same type.

The modular metal tile has the following positive qualities:

  • Ease of transport and storage. Modular metal tile Venice, namely this brand is considered the most popular, has a sheet width of a little more than a meter, and a little less length. Such small dimensions make it easy to transport and store the material;
  • Small dimensions speed up the installation of modular metal tiles. In addition, such small dimensions allow one person to work on laying roofing material, without the involvement of assistants;
  • A number of manufacturers, including the Venice brand, provide special grooves and protrusions on each module. This simplifies the "cohesion" of sheets of material and also speeds up installation;
  • Another important plus is waste minimization. When, especially if the roof is complex, there are always a lot of trimmings. This is due to the fact that you have to "customize" the pattern. In the case of a modular metal tile, such waste will be many times less. And this means that the financial costs will be less.
  • In addition, do not forget about the "usual" advantages of this type of roofing material. The metal tile is durable, strong and easy. This material also has an attractive appearance.

    If we talk about the shortcomings, then he can be said to be the only one. Modular metal tile is quite expensive. Of course, a lot depends on the manufacturer. How better material the more expensive it is. For example, the Venice brand is considered expensive. But this minus is easily compensated by a long service life, practicality and attractive appearance.

    Characteristics

    Modular metal tiles are produced by several manufacturers. But the differences in the products themselves are minor. The most popular brand is Venice. Its characteristics are as follows:

  1. The total width of one module is 1190 millimeters. This parameter is taken into account during transportation and storage.
  2. The useful width of the sheet is 1150 millimeters. It is this value that should be taken into account when calculating the amount of material to cover the roof.
  3. The height of the wave or profile is 26 millimeters. Such dimensions are sufficient to give the sheet the desired bending strength.
  4. The length of the module is 736 millimeters. If we talk about the useful value of this parameter, then it is equal to 70 centimeters.
  5. The size of one "tile" or wavelength is 35 centimeters. It is this value that is taken into account when choosing .
  6. The area of the entire module is 0.8 square meters. Knowing this parameter, you can easily calculate the required amount of material to cover the roof. Just be sure to add 10-15 percent.

Another important characteristic is the weight of the module. It is 3.7 kilograms. It means that square meter roofing from a modular metal tile will weigh less than 4 kilograms.

What you need for installation

Laying a modular metal tile is not too different from the usual version of this roofing material. First you need to prepare everything necessary tools and fixtures. For installation you will need the following:

In addition, the modular metal tile itself should be prepared. Most manufacturers, to protect the polymer layer from damage during storage and transportation, cover it with a film. It needs to be torn off before.

Laying

Venice metal tile or another brand of this type of modular material is mounted in almost the same way as a regular one. But there are also some nuances. The installation itself is carried out in the following sequence:

Separate modules of metal roofing tiles are an innovative laying and fastening technology, and the brand "Venice" has become one of the most popular in the construction markets. What explains the popularity of this type of tile? What is so special about her?

Description

The module is a separate, completely finished piece that can be easily laid on any type of roof slope. Small in area and light, only one person can lay it, which is why the builders of private houses loved it so much.

Tiling modules are made in one piece sheet steel according to Swedish technology, with a matte or glossy finish.

The product has a unique shape - five lower and six upper waves, and the unusual angle of the tiles helps during installation - the sheets lie perfectly evenly with excellent fit to each other over the entire roof area. The lower relief part of the wave only once again emphasizes the exclusivity of the shape of the Venice metal tile, it can be put on a par with the most exclusive types of ceramic products for roofs.

The tile consists of:

  • High strength polymer layer;
  • Primers at the bottom of the zinc base
  • The product is covered with an anticorrosive layer of high-quality protective varnish.

Pros-cons

Features of the structure of the metal tile Venice is able to reliably protect the building from various leaks without arranging an additional waterproofing layer. The appearance is very similar to the traditional ceramic tiles, so familiar to many, but its characteristics are far superior to it:

  • Not afraid sun rays and does not suffer from a change in the original color;
  • The cost is very democratic;
  • Installation accessible even to a novice builder;
  • High strength and durability of products;
  • Not afraid of temperature changes;
  • Low weight of products;
  • The laid tile copes well with waterproofing;
  • Excellent view of the entire flooring and a variety of color shades.

But what is Monterrey Norman metal tile and how well and effectively it serves, is described in detail in this

The manufacturer gives a guarantee for manufactured products up to 50 years! During this period, he guarantees the excellent quality of Venice.

On the video metal tile Venice, installation instructions:

Among other things, it is very economical and less waste is left during installation.

Particularly relevant are modular tiles for roofs with complex slopes, attics, or several at once. In such a house there are always several chimney pipes, which, with a different type of roofing material, are quite difficult to equip and waterproof. And small modules can be stacked as required by the design of the complicated roof, and it is easy to cut and fit to the desired size.

Each sheet has special holes, with the help of which it is successfully attached and connected to other elements of the roofing material, the seam is practically invisible, which will undoubtedly affect the impermeability of moisture and raindrops. But for all these amenities, of course, you will have to pay much more than for plain sheets cermets.

Take a closer look at the Venetian keramolist - you will see a characteristic bend on it, this is not done by chance, this detail is designed to give the sheet special resistance to the onslaught of bad weather and all kinds of winds.

In addition, during roofing work and fitting parts, very little waste remains, they are cut without crumbs, solid parts remain, which can then be used to cover chimneys or other inaccessible places, there are many options for their use, and waste-free production, of course, can only be attributed to positive qualities cermets.

Note! In flight with a metal tile, there should be a briefing on the main work, but if it is not, then you need to know:

  • All the necessary holes for fasteners are already present on the finished parts, you do not need to do anything yourself;
  • Small recesses ensure the invisibility of the seams of the joints;
  • All recesses are bowl-shaped, which acts as a waterproofing barrier, they prevent moisture from entering;
  • The unique front part creates conditions for ventilation, which will affect the life of the truss system.

For high-quality installation, prepare special tools:

  • Electric scissors for cutting purposes;
  • Cordless screwdriver - if it is not there, then working with a long wire can complicate the work;
  • Ordinary construction scissors for cutting metal;
  • Special powerful stapler and hammer;
  • Level, marker and folding measures.

Step by step:

  1. First you need to assemble the rafters, put the crates on them;
  2. Cover the legs of the rafters with a septic tank and you can use construction foil:
  3. The distance between the rails in rows - 290 mm, along the axis - 350;
  4. Then auxiliary strips are attached in places of chimneys and sewage system;
  5. After preparatory work finished, you can start laying metal tiles;
  6. Lay the first part in the lower right corner, secure it thoroughly with fasteners;
  7. The next product is placed along the end part of the previous sheet, self-tapping screws are placed in the finished holes and fastened;
  8. In this technique, lay all the material, do not forget about the ridge and the drainage system.

You will also need to pick up parts for finishing the chimney, you can do this from the waste that remained from cutting the tiles.

It will be much easier and easier to work with metal tiles when laying the roof if you understand the installation features and strictly follow the basic construction rules and recommendations from the manufacturers of this material.

Use of roofing material

Characteristics of metal tiles as a roofing material

Metal tile is an inexpensive, but quite practical and economical roofing material with a metal base coated only with a zinc coating on both sides, or with the addition of a synthetic coating on the front side.

The main advantages of metal tiles are:

The anti-corrosion function is provided by a zinc coating on a metal base. Spray level roofing sheet zinc can vary from 140 to 275 g/sq. m, which is determined by the manufacturer, based on the climatic conditions in which potential consumers live.

Manufacturers managed to achieve weight reduction through the use of thin steel sheets. Despite the fact that the minimum thickness of the material is 0.4 mm, experts recommend using sheets of 0.5 mm or more for installation in order to avoid deformation of the roofing units.

This property should be given special attention, because, for example, with an increase in the thickness of the composite metal tile, the installation will successfully withstand, and the roof will become much stronger, but this will affect the load of the structure in relation to rafter system and the foundation of the building. The maximum sheet thickness is 1 mm.

The market offers metal tiles in 26 different colors, which will allow you to get creative with the construction of the roof. In addition to the external attractiveness of the material, this solution provides a kind of protection of the material from the impact ultraviolet radiation, chemical substances and mechanical damage.

The sequence of installation of metal tiles

  1. A waterproofing layer is laid. It will help prevent condensation on the metal sheet due to temperature fluctuations outside and the effect of warm air penetrating from the interior.
  2. Roof insulation. Thermal insulation material fixed between rafter legs, which will improve sound insulation and keep heat inside the house, cottage.
  3. Vapor barrier. For proper styling vapor barrier, a special film is attached to the rafters with inside taking into account the overlap, the value of which, as a rule, is already indicated by the manufacturer in the form of a corresponding mark on the film itself. The overlap of two sheets of material is sealed with construction adhesive tape.
  4. Creation of a crate. For work you will need wooden bars 50x50 mm, which are fastened with a gap of 300-400 mm - depends on the design features and the selected type of metal tile. We draw the attention of those who did not know before how to properly mount the metal tile to respect the distance between the bars of the crate: the greater the weight of the material, the smaller the gap.

For example, if the thickness of the crate is 50 mm, then the distance is 300 mm, and with bars of 80 mm, the gap should be 270 mm.

Several falling beams are nailed to the rafters on top of the waterproofing from top to bottom - from the ridge to the eaves, then the wooden laths of the crate. Compliance with these requirements will avoid deformation of the roofing and preserve its quality during further operation. The first board should be 10-15 mm longer than the others, as shown in the photo.

Laying metal tiles

Initially, the structure should be checked for distortions and other flaws in the roof, due to which the quality of the connection will be greatly reduced when assembling the sheets.

To create ventilation of the attic, a special strip with a triangular seal is attached to the eaves - its joints serve as a source of air entering the under-roof space. After that, the installation of the valley is carried out with a roof with a metal tile from V-shaped parts of the internal joint-valley.

Lifting galvanized sheets is quite simple; for this, two bars must be placed at a slight slope. It is better to transport the material together: one feeds the sheet from below, the second pulls it to the roof. When performing, remember to observe safety precautions.

Experts point out that because of the sharp edges, shingles moving at high speed can cut through everything that gets under it.

Fasteners must be made in accordance with the basic rule - self-tapping screws are screwed only into drilled holes and with a special rubber washer.

In no case do not tighten the screws too much, but even if the fastening is weak, the installation will not be carried out correctly. Both cases are fraught with the formation of cracks and the flow of the roof.

Modular tiles are a modern roofing material, made from galvanized steel, 0.5 - 0.6 mm thick covered with a layer polymer coating. Due to the design features, any roof can be covered with it, so this metal tile is actively used in the field of suburban housing construction.

Modular and classic metal tiles: main differences

Housing covered with modular tiles and classic metal tiles has the same performance characteristics, since the same material is used for the production of both roofs. The difference lies in the size- modular tiles are produced in small modules of specified sizes (usually, these parameters are 1177x745 mm, i.e. two "waves").

Modules have a specific profile geometry, allowing you to create a coating for any home and thanks to small size they are easily replaced during operation - if one has rust or a scratch, it can be easily replaced with a new module without disassembling the rest of the coating.

Installation of modular tiles is quite simple.- the elements are stacked like a constructor, creating the effect of a seamless connection along the length, horizontal joints are organized at the place of stamping, so that the lock connection is extremely invisible. The height of the "steps" contributes to more high quality coupling, and also provides protection of the lock from moisture, mechanical damage and wind load.

The small size of modular shingles allows much faster delivery of the product to the installation site, facilitates the process of lifting it to the roof, speeds up the time spent on installation, and also minimizes the effort required by the team to install the roof (if desired, it can be installed independently).

Therefore, to the characteristic differences between modular metal tiles and classic, can be attributed to:

  • sheet size;
  • Features of the formation of joints (on a modular tile, the joints are almost invisible, therefore, it is created seamless coating effect);
  • Easy repair - modules can be replaced during operation, which means that the aesthetics of the structure are preserved and its durability is extended. Classical tiles need to be repaired on the spot, it is impossible to replace one sheet with another;
  • Saving time and effort spent on installation, because these indicators are significantly minimized when working with modules;

Modular metal tile: its main operational advantages and disadvantages

Modular tiles are great innovative roofing material, which took into account all the shortcomings of the previous type of metal tiles, so it allows you to quickly mount the coating even for roofs of complex configuration, perfectly combined with various structural elements of such roofs. The operational advantages of the material include:

  • Compact and light weight;
  • Tightness of the system, provided by the patented design of the leading edge, which protects the modules and the interlock from the effects of moisture and wind;
  • Resistance to adverse weather conditions;
  • Low threshold of sensitivity to drying out of wooden rafters;
  • High threshold of deformation resistance;
  • The ability to replace modules without causing damage to the rest of the coating;
