Wooden staircase with 90 degree turn. Do-it-yourself L-shaped staircase - how to make a corner staircase. Open stairs on a metal frame LT series

Even a one-story object is not without steps inside - there are stairs to the attic or low, often found structures in the interior, crowning the design concept. A house with several tiers needs special lifts, and the ease of use and safety of home depend on what type of stairs the owner chooses for self-construction. The most common option is a do-it-yourself staircase to the second floor made of wood with a 90-degree turn.

As a rule, these are L- or U-shaped two-march models. The rotation angle is 90 and 180, respectively.

In addition, stairs are divided into the following options:

Additional advantages of both options are convenience and safety. The structures are calculated in such a way that they can withstand the weight of the cargo carried to the second floor and a sufficient number of assistants. The width and depth of the steps will allow older people and young children to use the stairs without fear for their safe movement.

Designing a 90 degree turntable

Small houses for a small family do not need wide and bulky spans. Therefore, consider the design of the corner staircase at 90 with running elements instead of a transition platform. It will take up little space, since it has only one march, several steps act as the second. It is best to arrange the structure with a clockwise rotation.

Tools and materials

The choice of wood must be approached carefully.

First, why wood? Because only this raw material lends itself to self-fitting and design - in the process, you can make mistakes with calculations and correct inconsistencies very easily.

Secondly, it is a budget option for building material.

Third, wooden houses require similar stairs - steel or concrete are incompatible.

As for the breed, it is important to choose hard varieties - beech, oak, larch.

Budget pine is allowed, it is only important to ensure that there are no inclusions of knots in the boards and timber, which makes the breed very sinful. A residential building is characterized by violent activity - moisture, temperature changes, dry air. From this, the staircase to one degree or another will begin to deform and the knots will fall out of their places, creating dangerous situation to operate the product. Before manufacturing parts, all wood is dried and impregnated with moisture-repellent and protective compounds against biological damage - mold, bug.

The required tools are known to every carpenter:

  • hacksaw;
  • electric jigsaw - it will help to gently round the edges;
  • screwdriver;
  • hammer or mallet;
  • bit;
  • square;
  • level.

For the design of parts choose:

  • support beam with a section of 100 mm or more (depending on height);
  • edged board 50 mm thick;
  • auxiliary beam with a section of 40 mm;
  • fasteners: self-tapping screws, steel corners, anchors, screws, bolts;
  • wood glue or epoxy.

Accessories should not cause complaints. It is better to select fasteners in anti-corrosion design - temperature difference building materials will create conditions for the occurrence of condensate, which is detrimental to both metal and wood.

Calculation of stairs to the second floor made of wood with a 90 degree turn

Before starting work, it is required to prepare a drawing, where all the components of the structure are scrupulously noted. To do this, use the calculation formulas or computer programs.

To draw up an accurate, verified design of a staircase with a 90 turn, it is important to know the following values:

  • March width. It is important to proceed from your own wishes, however, it should not be less than 80 mm.
  • The length of the projection of the stairway from the last upper riser to the corner of the central winder step.
  • Step width. Minimum 120 mm.
  • Step height. Maximum 220 mm.

The calculation for the actual dimensions of winder steps is carried out on graph paper. To do this, two rectangles are drawn, depicting marches with known parameters, converted to scale values, with a line passing through their centers. They are connected by an arc of a circle through which the radius of the central winder will pass. From it, the layout of the elements is performed, following the optimal and uniform width.

Example: a two-flight staircase with a long and short span of 8 and 2 steps, respectively. Winder steps in the amount of three pieces are located at an angle of 30?. The design has the following parameters: opening length - 2294 mm, width - 930 mm, height to ceiling - 2683 mm. Step length - 825 mm, width - 208 mm, riser height - 206 mm. It remains to indicate the actual dimensions of each part on paper and you can start cutting.

Sawing stringers

For the load-bearing parts of the stairs, a template is made - a right-angled triangle with the dimensions of the depth of the step and the height of the riser. It is cut out of plywood or use a square. They apply markings with a pencil, check with the rule - the thin part from the width of the board is not more than 15 cm - and cut out the excess.

It is better to use a jigsaw - it will carefully cut off the parts along the marked lines. The ends of the prepared boards are immediately sanded to prevent them from going into chips.

Installation of support poles

To fix the stringers, a 100 mm support bar is attached. The place of its installation is determined by the drawing. Most likely, it is located diagonally opposite the corner of the room. The beam is fastened with steel corners, anchor bolts or concreted into the floor - depending on the stage of construction of the house. In addition to a thick support, a bar with a cross section of up to 50 mm is used. It is used to make supports for a wall stringer and a base for laying winder steps.

Stringer fastening

Work begins from above, so that all the shortcomings fall on the bottom, where it will be incomparably easier to fix them. The stringers are attached to the ceiling with the help of steel corners, bolts or self-tapping screws. The lower part must be inserted into the support bar. To do this, a groove is hollowed out or cut out on it. Its dimensions are 2 cm deep, and the width and length are 1 mm less than the end. This is necessary in order for the kosour to enter tightly. For reliable fixation, a paste is prepared from sawdust and wood glue. It is put inside and knocked out with a kosour mallet.

The wall element is fixed similarly at the top, and from below it is fixed to a metal corner to a support of a smaller section, having previously sawn out the end for laying the winder. All work is carried out with the indispensable observance of the level, otherwise future steps will not lie parallel to the floor.

Making steps for stairs

Steps for marches are cut according to the template. These are the same elements and difficulties should not arise. Easy installation and winder steps. For them, a separate platform is purchased from boards or plywood and the steps are cut out according to the drawing - the lines come out of one corner. When all the elements are prepared, they are treated with protective compounds and varnished in several layers.

Assembling the stairs to the second floor with a turn

Unlike the fastenings of the supports, the steps are temporarily fixed from below - subsequently, after fitting all the details, the structure is disassembled and, after processing, laid again. They make a bowstring for the lower march - a board according to the principle of a kosour, but without coal cuts for laying steps. In the inner part of the wooden element, grooves are knocked out or sawn out, where the steps will be inserted.

The wall short bowstring is made in the same way as described above. The upper end of the outer string must reliably hide the end of the winder, and the lower end is cut off perpendicular to the floor for the subsequent installation of the riser. Having installed the first straight elements on self-tapping screws on the outside and adhesive paste on the inside, they proceed to laying the radius ones. They are fixed in the same way. Straight steps are laid, sawing grooves at the ends for inserting into the stringer. Before fixing on fasteners, all elements are glued.

The risers also lead from below. Inexperienced craftsmen make the mistake of making workpieces equal to a tight fit between steps. This is not necessary - the house will live a busy life, where moisture and steam are present. Swollen, the elements will be able to break the entire structure, or at least deform it. A 5 mm gap is enough to keep the ladder model strong for many years.

Fences and balusters

A significant role in the interior is played by decorative elements of the stairs - railings and balusters. They are bought ready-made. But if the master has golden hands, nothing prevents them from making them on their own.

Special attention to fastening: it is required to have balusters often - on each step. This will create additional support and safety for children and elderly homeowners. Besides, it's beautiful.

It is impossible to fasten the balusters to the steps with self-tapping screws - it is not reliable. It is better to use dowels - small wooden rods by the type of dowels. For them, holes are specially drilled at the edges of the steps, which should be a couple of millimeters smaller than the rod. Before inserting the dowel, the hole is filled with glue or epoxy.

Holes are also drilled in the balusters themselves, moistened with a fixing compound, and the elements are put on wooden rods. The design is carefully knocked out with a mallet for better adhesion.

A cord or fishing line is pulled over the upper baluster and the support post. It is pre-blackened to make accurate marks on all decorative elements. All excess upper parts are cut off, keeping a parallel with the stringer - so, the fence will lie flat. The handrail is either put on the balusters and screwed with screws from below, or fixed from above, but then the fasteners will have to be puttied.

The finished staircase should be passed from top to bottom grinder or sandpaper and remove fine chipping dust. After that, they decide what kind of decoration with decorative compositions is required - usually, wooden surfaces are varnished, stained or painted if the quality of the material is not the best.

How to care for a wooden staircase

Wood is the most capricious building material and without proper care, the staircase will not serve its owners for a measured period.

What you need to know so that the operation of the turntable is reliable and long:

  • Do not expose the structure to excessive moisture. Cleaning consists of wiping with a damp cloth wooden surfaces without the use of aggressive detergents- alkalis, solvents, acids. final stage cleaning will be wiping the surfaces dry with the addition of a special wax for furniture.
  • It is important to create a ventilation balance in the house, since overdrying for wood is fraught with cracking and creating cracks for mold breeding centers and bark beetle larvae. In inconspicuous dark places, they breed with catastrophic speed.
  • Eliminate all problems in a timely manner - sticking joints, unscrewing fasteners, loss of stiffness of steps and railings, creaking. Prevention is primarily important for the safety of the owners. If required, the structure is dismantled or the failed elements are replaced.

It is important to remember that the finished staircase will shrink, like any wood product. Therefore, it is not recommended to carry out independent installation immediately tightly - for 2-3 weeks the ladder should stand assembled "on the live".

Simple methods of preserving the original appearance of a wooden turning staircase will allow home master be proud of your own product for a long time. However, any ladder is a consumable item. home interior and over time it will need to be replaced. This is important to remember if the owners are going to make a model from valuable breeds.

The purchase of finished products is accompanied by additional costs. It will not be possible to fully control the manufacturing process of individual elements. The solution of non-standard tasks will become more complicated. If you have basic do-it-yourself skills from wood with a 90 turn, it will be created quickly enough and without errors. But in order to avoid unnecessary difficulties, it will be necessary preliminary preparation. For this, the data provided in this article will be useful.

It is not too difficult to make a stylish and functional design on your own. Production of complex carved elements can be ordered

Since special terms will be mentioned in the following, it is better to clarify some definitions right away.

Stringers serve as supports. It is on these elements that steps are installed. The bowstring covers the fasteners. Instead of a smooth turn, platforms can be used.

Without these inserts, even a large structure looks lighter. The figure clearly shows that without risers a good daylight. The disadvantage is the need to use thicker blanks for steps. This will ensure that there are no deformations under the weight of users during operation.

This specific name is derived from the German word bolz (bolt). With such a device, steps are fastened together to ensure structural rigidity.

In this variant, stringers, bolts and other visible supporting parts are not used. A solid frame is hidden inside the thick steps. He joins the wall with the help of large ones. Despite the outward simplicity, the implementation of such a project is based on a complex precise calculation. Reinforced fasteners are used. A clear disadvantage is the complete absence.

What material is better to use

This design takes up a lot of space. But such a solution is necessary for high ceiling heights. To obtain excellent aesthetic performance, the lower visible part of the stairs is completely closed. A cutout has been created in the window sill. This is an example of how important it is to take into account the parameters of a certain room when installing new structures.

Such a project is not too difficult to implement. Inexpensive materials are used here. A small number of elements and the absence of complex shapes should also be attributed to clear advantages. Despite the simplicity, the product is quite functional. It matches modern design.

Features of the stairs to the second floor with their own hands made of wood with a 180 ° turn

This solution increases the occupied area. But it is necessary to create a smooth rise with a large distance between floors.

Do-it-yourself algorithm for calculating the stairs to the second floor

The following table shows the values that experienced professionals recommend using when calculating the dimensions of a wooden staircase to the second floor:

Parameter Value Note
Angle of elevation with respect to the horizontal20 - 45 degreesHere are the limit values. It is better to use a range from 25 to 36 degrees.
One step height12 to 23 cmAs in the previous case, the middle level is the most comfortable.
Maximum/Minimum Winder Depth40/10 With other sizes, it will be inconvenient to use the stairs.

Reliable support on the step will be provided at a depth of the latter, not less than the length of the foot. But it doesn't need to be oversized either. To prevent errors, take into account the normal step length from 60 to 64 cm. Check the correctness of the calculation with the following formula: 2B + W = 62 cm, where H and W are the height and width of the steps, respectively.

To create drawings of stairs to the second floor with their own hands from wood, they use traditional tools, computers,. In any case, the following algorithm of actions can be applied:

Drawing Stage description

Draw a circle with radius r=l/2, where l is the width of the march ( stairs). This figure is divided at an angle of 45° (indicated by the red middle line).

Based on the markup made according to the first or second option, segments are drawn. Their length is equal to the depth of degrees (b).
Draw the straight parts of the stairs to the turn area.

The second option is to place straight flights of stairs with a gap between the corners.

Segments AC and AB are useful for accurate calculation of winders. Width (e) should be about 10 cm, and d - 40 cm.

In this drawing, it is necessary to obtain similar values of segments e and d.

In this figure, you can see that with limited free space, too steep slopes have to be used. In such cases, ladders and other special designs are used.

Article

The staircase in the house plays an important functional role - moving between floors should be convenient and safe. There are many configuration options for this design. The mid-flight look has received wide application, and its most popular subspecies is a turning staircase made of wood. In this article we will talk about how to properly design and install this type of marching structure.

Types of stairs by design

Typical designs of stairs are several varieties that differ in load-bearing elements:

  • on stringers (one or two);
  • on bowstrings;
  • on the bolts (they are also called cantilever or hanging);
  • screw;
  • assembled from ready-made modules, which are often called spinal.

Types of rotary mid-flight stairs

Marching stairs are divided into two main groups:

For the implementation of the turn, an intermediate platform or winder steps are used.

We make a turning staircase with our own hands

To assemble the design of a rotary mid-flight staircase with your own hands from wood, you must first calculate the dimensions of all elements. And starting from it, calculate the range and quantity of lumber. The calculation is based on the space in which the staircase will be located.

  • march span width - 90-120 cm;
  • step height - 15-20 cm;
  • depth of steps - 25-30 cm;
  • the steepness of the stairs - 20-45 °;
  • the width of the turning steps in the center of the march is at least 20 cm;
  • overhanging steps over each other - no more than 5 cm.

It is very important to take into account that there is such a parameter as the height of the passage. This is the size from the flight of stairs to the bottom of the ceiling - it must be at least 190-200 cm. Otherwise, you will have to climb the ladder half-bent, which is unacceptable.

If the house is planned wooden staircase with a platform, then the dimensions of the latter are chosen depending on the width of the two flights of stairs.

Calculation of the turntable

Manufacturing and installation of a supporting stringer beam

Consider wooden marching stairs, built along stringers. Stringers are selected according to the bearing capacity, which is determined by the cross section of the timber used. The optimal section of the beam is 50x300 mm. And it is better if it is wood from durable species - beech, oak, larch. However, pine is fine too.

In this case, the carrier beam must be prepared, made in the form of a comb. For this, two methods are used:

The first option is more often used, since it is easier to work with. The cuts are made with an ordinary saw or a jigsaw. The cut planes must then be processed with sandpaper to create a smooth surface. Steps are cut from a board 4-5 cm thick, their dimensions and number are determined in the calculation process.

Production of steps and risers

The main thing is to withstand the dimensions of the stepped elements, which were designed for. But there is one point where you can save. The riser does not bear any load. He is decorative element. Therefore, it makes no sense for him to buy thick boards.

The thickness of the riser is always less than the thickness of the step

For example, if a board with a thickness of 40-50 mm is required for steps, then lumber with a thickness of 20-30 mm is suitable for a riser.

Construction assembly

Consider step by step instructions for the assembly of a two-flight wooden staircase with a platform with their own hands.

  1. First of all, the platform is assembled. It is usually installed on four supporting pillars made of timber with a section of 100x100 mm. They are placed vertically at the corners of the site and fastened together with a strapping of boards 30-40 mm thick and 50-100 mm wide. There are designs when the harness is attached not to the racks, but to the walls. This is usually done if the ladder small size. As a fastener, metal dowels or anchors are used. Boards 40-50 mm thick are laid on the resulting frame, cut to fit the size of the width or length of the site - this will be the floor.
  2. The lower march span is installed. First, stringers are mounted, then steps are attached to them. Installation is carried out from the bottom up.
  3. In the same way, the installation of the upper march is carried out. The main task of installing the stringers is to accurately set them in the same size among themselves.
  4. Installation of balusters and railings, if any, are provided for by the design of the interfloor staircase.

Attaching the kosour to the floor

By the way, the installation of wooden stairs to the second floor of the U-shaped type (with a turn of 180 °) is practically no different from the installation of the L-shaped (with a turn of 90 °) option. The difference is only in the form of construction. And all construction operations and calculations are carried out in the same way.

Installation of stairs with winder steps differs in purely constructive positions. First of all, there is no intermediate platform, which means that the running elements must be attached to something. The same applies to the upper ends of the stringers of the lower span and the lower ends of the support of the upper flight. There are several options, but more often they use support posts, which are installed under the stringer edges. They also try to attach running steps to them.

There is another option, when the upper kosour is extended to the lower one. There is a kind of connection of two load-bearing beams, to which steps and risers are attached at the turn.

Installation of balusters and railings

There are supporting balusters, which are mainly used for railings, there are intermediate ones that serve as protective elements.

In hardware stores, you can find ready-made wooden railings and balusters that are easily adjusted to the required dimensions in terms of their height. They come with standard plastic or metal fasteners. There is no need to cut and fit anything. Install fastener at the place of installation, fasten it to the load-bearing elements of the staircase structure and insert railings and balusters into them.

Staircase with 90° turn (L-shaped staircase) is a structure of two marches located relative to each other at right angles and interconnected by a turntable. It is the most popular type of construction, as it has a small size and allows installation in openings with a small area, while maintaining a comfortable step height.

Online calculator calculation of a staircase with a 90° turn with a platform from KALC.PRO allows you to obtain detailed data necessary for the manufacture of stringers, steps, risers, platforms, railings, balusters. In addition, you get a complete set of staircase drawings (assembly design and constituent parts) in different projections, a virtual 3D model with which you can evaluate the structure in a given opening and recommendations for creating the most comfortable structure.

Calculation procedure

  • Step 1. The choice of optimal units of measurement - mm, cm, m, inches, feet.
  • Step 2. Determining the color of drawings - monochrome, color.
  • Step 3. The definition of the design of the stairs is right-handed (with a left turn), left-handed (with a right turn).
  • Step 4. Indication of the dimensions of the stairs - length, march width, opening height ( if the upper step is at the level of the 2nd floor, the height of the opening = the height of the stairs) .
  • Step 5. Step parameters - quantity, tread thickness, edge protrusion, upper step below the level of the 2nd floor or at the level ( optional).
  • Step 6. Characteristics of stringers - beam thickness, beam width.
  • Step 7. Turntable stiffening beams - thickness, width.
  • Step 8. risers ( optional) - the possibility of using risers and specifying the thickness of the board.
  • Step 9. Support column parameters - section side.
  • Step 10. Definition of fencing elements - height, thickness, width of handrails, section side of the baluster.
  • Step 11. Slabs and Walls - Blocks are used for rendering purposes only and do not affect the amount of materials.
  • Step 12. Rechecking all the entered parameters and starting the calculation of the stairs with a 90° turn with the landing using the button « Calculate».

Design features / designations on the drawings

Over the centuries, building practice has formed a huge base of buildings that has been constantly developed and improved. However, despite a significant technological breakthrough in all industries, modern calculations still use many mathematical expressions that have not changed over the centuries. When designing stairs, the most recognizable is the "convenience formula" of the French engineer Francois Blondel. The image shows the optimal values that are derived from this formula and which we recommend using in the calculator. Other options can be found on the " Calculation of stairs online».

Blondel formula: 2 × h + s = 60/65 cm

  • h - step height;
  • s - tread width;
  • 60/65 cm - the average length of a person's step.

However, we warn you that for the construction of stairs there are construction documentation (SNiP, GOST, TU) that regulates the limit loads, the strength of materials, the minimum allowable parameters of load-bearing elements, and so on and so forth. The safety and reliability of the structure under construction is guaranteed only if they are observed, therefore we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the provisions of the following documents:

GOST 23120-78 "Steel stairs, platforms and railings", SNiP 21-01-97 (SP 112.13330.2011) " Fire safety buildings and structures”, SNiP 31-02-2001 (SP 55.13330.2010) “Single-apartment residential houses”, SNiP 2.08.01-89 “Residential buildings”, SNiP 2.08.02-89 (SP 118.13330.2011) “Public buildings and structures”, SNiP 2.01.07-85 (SP 20.13330.2010) “Loads and impacts”, SNiP II-25-80 (SP 64.13330.2011) “Wooden structures”.

ABOUT excellent decoration country house is a solid wooden staircase. This design is made from various materials. Vacation home in several tiers, it is necessarily equipped with a similar element. with their own hands made of wood with a 90-degree turn should ensure comfortable movement along it. The most important moments in the manufacture of such a structure is accurate calculations and proper installation. From quality installation work depends on the safe movement of residents.

Marching rotary design

There are several varieties of such stairs to the second floor:

  • Marching structures are simple systems that may contain one or more marches. Basically, these are straight-line parts with steps. There should not be more than 16 steps in one march.
  • Screw varieties are suitable for small spaces. They are structures around which steps rise in a spiral. Such a structure can be erected anywhere in the room, even in the central part.

Exquisite screw design with 90 degree rotation.

  • Combined systems look like an arcuate and curvilinear structure. They combine elements of screw and march structures.

  • Constructions on the bolts are skewless systems. In this case, the steps are installed against the wall, and are interconnected by bolts.

Even at the time of design, it is worth considering what type the structure will be and from what material.

Helpful information! Rotary marching systems are used in limited space. In individual cottages, wood products are especially popular.

Turning ladder options

Marching stairs to the second floor, made of wood with a turn of 90, may differ in the placement of parts and general appearance. lifting mechanism mounted on stringers or bowstrings. The device can be open or closed. The march for lifting is made straight or rotary.

Rotary structures are divided into varieties:

  • L-shaped has a scheme when two spans are placed at 90 degrees to each other.

  • U-shaped differs in turn by 180 degrees. The spans are placed in a parallel position to each other. The distance connecting them is a platform and has access to the floor or between tiers.

For your information! In some cases, several basic structures are used in one model. Similar products are called combined .

The most popular wood for production

You need to be responsible for choosing quality materials for the construction of the product. Wood is considered the best option. It is easy to fit and also belongs to the budget methods.

To create convenient systems, it is worth considering the following options:

  • Maple is characterized by stability and bending strength. But cracks can appear in such wood.

  • Beech can be used in rooms where there is no high humidity.

  • Oak is one of the best building materials. It differs in hardness and durability.

  • Larch is characterized by resistance to decay and is considered a durable and hard material.

  • You can choose a budget option pine.

For installation work, you will need a jigsaw, a hacksaw, a chisel, a square and a level. Material is selected from edged boards, support and auxiliary beams, as well as fasteners.

Helpful information! Before use, the wood material is dried and coated with protective water-repellent solutions.

Features of calculations

Before proceeding with the installation of stairs to the second floor with your own hands made of wood with a 90 turn, you need to develop a drawing. Special formulas are applied in the process.

Drawing up a project requires knowledge of the main structural elements:

  • The steps are divided into rotary, performing the rotation of the structure, and straight.
  • Bearing supports can be bowstring or stringer.

Components of the product

To fulfill perfect design you need to know the following parameters:

  • The distance of the opening from the topmost riser to the corner of the winder.
  • The width of the steps. Required minimum 120 mm.
  • The width of the span (march) is not taken less than 80 cm.
  • The largest step height is 220 mm.

Helpful information! The most practical designs include models with a rack in the middle. They are easy to assemble and perform well.

How to calculate stairs with a turn: drawings and diagrams

At independent design the following points must be considered:

  • The width and height of the steps. Since the average step is 60 cm, the width and height of one step are calculated using the following formula: 2b + c \u003d 60. In this case, c and b are the dimensions of the steps.
  • The angle of inclination of the steps is calculated. Do not make too cool a design for the sake of saving space. Optimal Angle tilt varies from 25 to 35 degrees.
  • When calculating the rotary steps, it must be taken into account that the size of the smaller side should be about 100 mm. And the overlap of the rotary node over the previous one has a value of about 50 mm.

Installation of the supporting structure

Do-it-yourself staircase to the second floor made of wood with a 90 turn is performed from the installation of supporting structures. In this case, the following actions are performed:

  • The kosour is cut out. First, a template is made in the form of a triangle with a right angle and marked dimensions for the height of the riser and the depth of the step. Marking and sawing out elements. End parts are well polished.

  • For fastening the stringers, poles with supports are mounted. The beam is fixed with the help of special fastening components. It can also be concreted into the floor.
  • To the details of the ceiling, the stringers are mounted with self-tapping screws and bolts. The part below is inserted into the support bar. In this case, a groove is machined. For better fasteners, a mixture of glue with sawdust is prepared.

  • The wall part is mounted in the same way at the top. The bottom is fixed with metal corner. At all stages of production, a level is used.

Installation of steps and assembly of the structure

The staircase to the second floor is made of wood with a turn of 90 from the same steps, which are cut according to the template.

Winder steps are made from the platform. They are cut according to the drawing. In this case, the lines should come out of one corner. After the production of all elements, they are treated with varnish and a special protective composition.

A bowstring is being made for the march, which is located below. The grooves are cut into which the steps will be installed. The protruding parts of the outer string are masked by the ends of the winders.

Helpful advice! Do not make blanks that fit tightly between the steps. To make the structure durable for many years, small gaps are made.

Installation of railings and balusters

An important role in the arrangement of the interior is played by details for decoration - balusters and railings. Dowels are used to secure the balusters to the steps. Additionally, resin and glue are processed. To fasten the railing along the entire length, a groove is made, where the rail nailed to the balusters enters. The finished staircase must be processed with a grinding machine or sandpaper. Then staining or coating with stain or varnish is performed.

Helpful advice! Balusters are best placed on each step, which will provide greater structural strength.

Wood stairs require special care. For this, the following measures are taken:

  • Cleaning is done with a damp cloth without the use of detergents.
  • The surface is wiped with a dry cloth with the addition of wax.
  • It is impossible to allow overdrying of the structure.
  • It is necessary to eliminate all problems in time: squeaks, sticking of joints and loosening of fasteners.
