Comparative characteristics of the profile for windows. What profile of a plastic window is better to choose? Tips for choosing and rating manufacturers. Who produces quality profiles

I am glad to welcome my readers!

During my work, I installed many windows, but most often the quality was not very good.

The fact is that the main thing in a plastic window is the profile, but at first glance, all windows look the same. That is why, I often encountered the fact that customers choose a low-quality profile.

What is the main thing in plastic windows? The basis plastic windows- profile. A good profile is a guarantee of high-quality and reliable plastic windows.

How to choose a quality profile and what to look for when choosing? I want to help you find the answer to this question in this article.

We go outside or take a newspaper and what we see are the windows of KBE, REHAU, VEKA, SALAMAHDER, LG, PROPLEX, BRUSBOX and the like. What is behind all these names? - These are the names of window profile manufacturers and nothing else, and your windows will be made by completely different companies, and we know perfectly well what our manufacturers can make from the best raw materials.

And yet a little about the profile manufacturers. When ordering windows, you will hear from the manager that windows (for example, KBE, VEKA, REHAU, SALAMANDER) are German windows made in Germany - naturally the best and highest quality. What is true in these words and what is not? Of all those listed, only SALAMANDER is 100% produced abroad (therefore, it has a corresponding price), the rest have long been produced in Russia.

And about the production of the window profile. Most profile manufacturers have built their factories in Russia. I was at the KBE and VEKA factories - excellent factories, imported equipment, foreign specialists, imported raw materials, so there is not much difference from where the profile comes from (I think the situation is similar at other factories of European manufacturers).

True, as always, there is a "BUT". This is a "BUT" profile system produced specifically for Russia, i.e. it is not used abroad - it is only for us at "our request". The advantage of this system is cheap, the disadvantage is to reduce the cost, the profile walls make thinner, respectively, the thermal resistance is less, the strength is less.

For the south, this is quite acceptable, in middle lane- it is doubtful, in the north they can freeze. Usually this profile system is called an object profile and is used for glazing large objects - multi-storey residential buildings, industrial enterprises, etc. There are also Russian and Turkish systems, but since we are going to glaze our house, we will not consider these systems in detail.

Which profile I personally prefer, I can write further.

Which profile do you think is better? What is better Rehau or Brusbox? Veka or Proplex? KBE or LG? etc.

The most difficult and annoying question, to which it is almost impossible to give a reasoned answer, I can only express my personal opinion. I emphasize once again - this is my personal opinion, and not advertising, and the conversation will only focus on the profile systems with which I worked.

A few words about SALAMANDER (goes to non-competition)– good profile. The main advantage is made in Germany, the main disadvantage is that it is expensive. It would have been produced in Russia - it was among the middle peasants.

Now, in order about the profile systems produced in Russia:

Better than others in:

  • number of customer reviews
  • the number of defects in the supply of plastic profiles,
  • sealant,
  • holding seminars, trainings and training courses for window manufacturers.
  • Variety of profile systems.

Another advantage is that it sells the profile only to well-equipped enterprises for the production of plastic windows, which it regularly checks and issues its certificate to these plants. Therefore, if you have chosen a factory working with this profile, then the likelihood of getting into an unpleasant situation is less.

I give second place. This company sells its profile only to well-equipped plastic window manufacturing plants, which it regularly checks and issues its certificate to these plants. Therefore, if you have chosen a factory working with this profile, then the likelihood of getting into an unpleasant situation is less.

Deserved 3rd place.

Flaws:

  • There are disruptions in the supply of the profile, the rejection of the profile is more often than - for REHAU and VEKA
  • Sells a profile to any factories of plastic windows.

THYSSEN, LG, DIMEX

MOTNTBLANK, PROPLESS, BRUBEBOX

Share last place by number positive feedback people who installed windows, but are very well suited for glazing balconies and loggias, as well as domestic premises. Advantage - low price.

P.S. I have not worked with other profile systems, so I can’t say anything about them.

What profile of a plastic window is better to choose? Selection tips and manufacturer rating

The profile is the main element of any window; the durability and reliability of the entire structure depends on it. At first glance, the profile for PVC windows from different manufacturers looks almost the same.

The difference in quality becomes apparent after several months (or even years!) of use, when cheap windows begin to warp and cracks form in them. How to choose a good plastic profile for windows? How are products of different brands different from each other? And does it make sense to save on glazing by choosing an economy class profile?

Profile for PVC windows: characteristics and types

The profile is the basis of the entire structure, from which window sashes and frames are made. They determine not only the appearance of the window, but also its strength. Common materials for window profiles are wood (cedar and larch) and aluminum.

But most often the profile for windows is made of PVC, or polyvinyl chloride. Such a profile is reinforced with metal inserts and has air cavities inside, which increase the thermal insulation of the structure.

According to the European standard EN 12608 SR "Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) for the manufacture of windows and doors" and similar Russian GOST 30673-99 "Polyvinyl chloride profiles for window and door blocks. Specifications” profiles are classified according to a number of characteristics. In particular, in terms of the thickness of the outer and inner walls, the following are distinguished:

  1. Class A profiles - have outer walls with a thickness of 2.8 mm and inner walls with a thickness of 2.5 mm; they provide the best thermal insulation and are considered the best choice.
  2. Class B profiles - have outer walls with a thickness of 2.5 mm, internal - from 2.0 mm; such windows are not only “colder”, but also 15% less resistant to deformation.
  3. Class C profiles - all others that do not fit the standards A and B, they are not subject to strict requirements.

Note!

There is a so-called "objective" profile, which is designed for installation in non-residential industrial premises. It cannot be used in houses and apartments - because of the thin walls, it does not hold heat and is unstable to deformation.

At first glance, such a profile is no different from the usual one - except that you can see the object marking on the protective film. Often unscrupulous companies offering very low prices for their product, they sell windows from such a profile.

Choosing the best profile for plastic windows

It is not easy to determine "by eye" which profile of plastic windows is better, but there are some features that can say a lot about its quality.

Profile uniformity

The plastic must be homogeneous and absolutely smooth. The grainy surface suggests that the windows were most likely made in artisanal conditions and are fake. The coating must also be uniform, free of streaks and gradients.

By the way. In order not to buy a fake at the price of branded windows, pay attention to the factory markings on the inside of the window box. It should be stamped with the name of the manufacturer and a number of numbers: shift number, devices for the production of PVC profiles and date of manufacture.

Profile width

Most often, companies offer a plastic profile for windows with a width of 58 mm - this is a classic option, preferred for residential premises. There is also a profile with a width of 70 mm, this is often installed in high-rise buildings or where the climate is especially harsh. The 90 mm wide profile belongs to the premium class, it is characterized by excellent heat and sound insulation characteristics. However, not all companies work with such products.

Profile thickness

The thickness of the profile should be the same, from 2.5 mm to 3 mm. However, thin walls are not suitable for heavy window blocks - in this case, the welding seam is less durable, which means that the reliability of the entire structure suffers.

Number of air chambers

The number of cameras also depends on the width of the profile. A 58 mm profile can have a maximum of three chambers - which, however, is quite enough for the windows to retain heat. 70mm - three, four and even five cameras. The last of those mentioned (70 mm) are most in demand for glazing apartments and houses.

The norm for a 90 mm profile is six chambers. The more cameras, the warmer and quieter it will be in the house. However, in fairness it should be said that the difference between, for example, a three- and four-chamber package is not so significant.

Number of double-glazed windows

The number of air chambers in a PVC profile should not be confused with the number of double-glazed windows. A double-glazed window is several sheets of glass interconnected along the contour using a special frame and sealants. Airtight chambers with air or other gas inside are formed between the panes.

A single-chamber double-glazed window is the lightest, it consists of two glasses and one air chamber between them. Such double-glazed windows are very light, suitable for glazing large openings, so they are often installed on balconies, loggias and terraces. However, they are not suitable for windows due to insufficient thermal insulation.

For a house, cottage, office or apartment, it is better to choose a double-glazed window consisting of three sheets of glass and two air chambers. Three-pane double-glazed windows made of four sheets of glass are not common, they are heavy and let in less light than other types of double-glazed windows.

Such windows are in demand only in the North, where the temperature in winter can drop to -40 o C and lower. With more high temperatures there is almost no difference between two- and three-chamber double-glazed windows.

Helpful advice!

When choosing a plastic profile for windows, pay attention to the frame seals. There should be two of them, otherwise condensation will settle under the frame, and this spoils the insulation and creates a favorable environment for bacteria and mold.

Window profile rating: comparison of products from key manufacturers

  • rehau
One of the most famous companies that has been producing reliable windows for more than half a century and is considered the main innovator in this area - Rehau engineers are constantly improving the design and configuration of the profile - so the company pays great attention to environmental friendliness and energy-saving technologies. The company produces a profile with a width of 60-70 mm. Rehau products belong to the middle class.
  • VEKA
Another German "giant", whose products are valued all over the world. VEKA produce white and colored profiles that do not fade or turn yellow under the influence of direct sun rays. The seal is made of natural rubber, which does not freeze even under the influence of very low temperatures - a valuable quality for the Russian climate. The line includes models with a width of 58 to 90 mm. In terms of price, VEKA windows are comparable to Rehau.
  • Trocal
This is a company with a long history, one of the pioneers in the production of plastic windows. The first model was released in 1954. For decorative finishes the company offers the widest range of options - from lamination to acrylic coating. The profile is produced using the environmentally friendly Greenline technology and provides perfect thermal insulation. Profile width - 70 mm.
  • Salamander
This German company is not as well known as KBE or VEKA, but Salamander products are in no way inferior to them in quality. The profile is produced exclusively in Germany, which means that by purchasing such windows, you can count on truly European quality - at the same European price. The company produces bags with a width of 60 to 76 mm.
  • KBE
One of the most popular German brands that produces environmentally friendly windows recommended for installation in children's institutions and hospitals. KBE windows are of high quality and durability (they can serve up to 50 years!), and the line includes both luxury models and economy options. Profile width - from 58 to 70 mm.
  • Proplex
Proplex- Russian company, which, despite its youth, has already managed to establish a wide production and significantly modernize window systems. The profile is developed with the participation of Austrian specialists and taking into account Russian conditions. With very good product quality, the company still manages to maintain affordable prices. Proplex offers models in widths from 58mm to 127mm.

This is only a small part of the manufacturers of plastic windows, in fact there are dozens, if not hundreds. What plastic windows are better? When choosing glazing, you should give preference to well-known brands, but be sure to check all the documentation - famous brands are often faked. Branded windows at too low a price are a sign that they may be trying to deceive you.

Editorial opinion

Even the best windows will not last long if mistakes were made during their installation. Better simple economy class windows installed by professionals than expensive German windows installed by amateurs.

Which profile of plastic windows is better

What is a quality profile?

The key to the quality and durability of a metal-plastic window is a high-quality profile. Even if at first glance the entire profile for plastic windows is the same, in reality this is far from being the case. What profile for plastic windows is better, and how to choose the right window, experts from VEKA Rus advise you.

Certificates

The entire profile from which the windows are made is certified. The most significant is the RAL Certificate, which certifies not only the type of product, but also the place of its production. In other words, a profile of the same brand, but manufactured at different factories, will not always have this certificate.

The ISO 9001:2000 quality management system certificate is issued to industries that have a well-organized management system in compliance with all technological, economic and organizational requirements typical for the production of developed countries. Both Russian VEKA plants have this certificate.

If the profile is wider, is it more reliable and warmer?

Profile width is one of its main characteristics. Many window manufacturers promise a couple of extra millimeters to the profile width in their advertising campaigns, but are they really useful?

The following offers are most often found on the market:

  1. classic profile 58 mm;
  2. profile 70 mm with increased installation width;
  3. profile VEKA ALPHALINE 90 mm.

The width of 58 mm is due to the "classics of the genre" - wooden frames, which were replaced by plastic windows. Today, the EUROLINE 58 mm profile allows the production of modern warm windows that meet the requirements of most customers in different climatic zones. Properly manufactured and installed, this is the best window profile for any room.

A profile with a width of 70 mm is a proposal that appeared in the 80s of the last century. Having higher heat-saving soundproofing characteristics, this profile is especially fond of Russian consumers. In the product group of VEKA profiles, SOFTLINE, SWINGLINE and PROLINE have a width of 70 mm.

The 90 mm wide profile is a premium product that appeared about 5 years ago. The VEKA ALPHALINE profile allows the use of double-glazed windows up to 50 mm thick and is currently the unsurpassed leader among window profiles with enhanced energy-saving characteristics.

Note!

The choice of profile width largely depends on the installation location (window in the office, tambour door, Entrance door to the store, windows in a country house) and climate.

Now another novelty has appeared on the market - the SOFTLINE 82 profile. The innovative multi-chamber system, elegant style and the choice of more than 40 modifications guarantee the satisfaction of the most demanding customer. The SOFTLINE 82 system provides the best insulating performance, is fully compatible with 70 mm profiles and can be installed in any home.

Number of cameras

The second characteristic of the window is the number of cameras in the profile. There are three in the standard. The first one is for condensate drainage, the second one is for placing a reinforcing metal insert, and the third one is for fixing parts of the fittings and creating an additional air gap for better window tightness. The number of chambers depends on the width of the profile. So, a 58 mm profile can have a maximum of three cameras, but a 70 mm profile - preferably four. For a profile of 90 mm, the norm is 6 cameras.

Three and six chamber profile systems

Increasing the number of cameras with the same profile width does not significantly change the characteristics of the window. To improve the heat-saving characteristics, more wide profile, but not large quantity partitions in it.

Full package

Another important point- double glazing. The number of glasses in the window affects its characteristics and cost. Double glazing is the most common, but single glazing or triple glazing can also be ordered.

"Triple" windows are warmer. However, they weigh more and require high-quality assembly and stable construction. Single glazing is the coldest. It can be used for glazing unheated balconies, as well as summer houses. Double glazing is optimal in terms of technical characteristics, and allows you to maintain comfort indoors all year round.

Profile class

There are two classes of metal-plastic profiles. The first, class A, with a thickened outer wall, is certified by the RAL system as the optimal profile for windows, doors and frame glazing.

Helpful advice!

The second, class B, is a lightweight profile with a thinner outer wall, the so-called "object" profile. It has a slightly lower cost, but does not guarantee the preservation of the characteristics of the window throughout its operation.

Windows from the "object" profile, as an economical option, can be offered by absolutely all manufacturers, but you must remember that such a window may have weaker corner joints, poorer dimensional stability, lower energy-saving characteristics, the risk of premature wear of fittings, shorter service life.

conclusions

Summing up the reasoning on the topic of choosing a profile for a metal-plastic window, we emphasize:

  • The presence of certificates confirms the quality.
  • According to the mounting width, all profiles are divided into two main classes: 58, 64 mm and 70 -76 mm. Within the class, the thermal characteristics are the same. A profile with a width of 68 mm and a profile with a width of 72 mm do not differ from each other.
  • The number of cameras affects the window quality only if the profile belongs to different width classes.
  • The most common is double glazing.
  • Class A profile is the leader in reliability and quality.

When choosing windows, be able to hear the necessary information and filter out ads. The quality of your windows depends on your choice. Take the time to make the right choice!

Hide

Profile for PVC windows is the main element. It affects the functionality, reliability, durability of the structure. Despite the same appearance, the profiles are endowed with different properties which must be chosen very carefully.

What are the designs?

Currently, there are a large number of companies producing a variety of. They can differ significantly from each other even from one manufacturer, not counting competitive products. What is the difference and is it worth paying more?

There are various ones, a comparison of which will help the buyer to make right choice. They are a constructive basis, frames and sashes are made of them. The material can be used different: wood, metal-plastic, aluminum, polyvinyl chloride. The latter is the most popular: it is equipped with special steel inserts that make the product more durable and rigid. Air cavities help achieve good heat and sound insulation. Some manufacturers fill these cavities with nitrogen, so that the windows do not fog up during temperature changes. PVC profiles for windows must comply with Russian GOST 30673-99 or European EN 12608 SR.

PVC window profiles of all manufacturers are divided into the following categories:

  • Class A: characterized by an outer wall dimension of 2.8 mm. Inside the thickness does not exceed 2.5 mm. Such a window provides good protection from weather conditions, perfectly keeps heat indoors.
  • Class B: characterized by thinner walls: outer - 2.5 mm, inner - 2 mm. This sample copes worse with thermal insulation, but is suitable for use in warm climates or for glazing balcony rooms. It should be borne in mind that the risk of structural deformation increases by 15%.
  • Class C: products that do not meet Russian and foreign standards. Since there is no certification, there are no strict requirements for it, and manufacturers can choose the thickness at their discretion. As a rule, such windows are cheap, but their quality suffers.

On sale you can find an objective PVC profile. It is used for glazing non-residential technical premises, commercial halls, as it is not able to retain heat in a quality manner, and there is a high probability of deformation. Externally, it is not much different from the standard. You need to pay attention to the presence of the Object designation: unscrupulous merchants sell such products for homes.

How to choose the right profile?

Various characteristics have window profiles PVC, a comparison of which will help you make the right choice. Do not rely on external characteristics offered products. Attention should be paid to the following properties:

  • Homogeneity of the material. Choose those products whose plastic is characterized by the absence of flaws. It should be smooth, pleasant to the touch, uniform. If you notice that the surface is coarse-grained, most likely you are dealing with a fake made in violation of technology.
  • The coating must be complete, without streaks, traces of paint.

High-quality windows are always factory marked. Look for it on the inside of the package. Firms put their stamps with the name, there may also be numbers: they mean the number of the shift that released the batch. The numbers indicate the number of the device that produced the window and the date of issue of the product. Fakes either do not have such numbers, or the designations are the same.

  • Width. PVC window profile often has a standard parameter of 58 mm. Such a window is quite suitable for living rooms and is most often sold in stores. If desired, you can order a thicker version, the width of which will be 70 or 90 mm. The first option is relevant on the upper floors of skyscrapers, as it can withstand heavy loads, is able to effectively withstand strong wind. Useful in cold climates as well. The second option is considered a premium class, it has a high ability to isolate sound and heat, has high strength, but the mass of such a product is much higher, it is not recommended to install it everywhere.

If you decide to install a 90 mm PVC window profile, you should not order an oversized window. Its sash will have a lot of weight and will begin to sag. It is better to take two small ones or make a design with two wings that are independent of each other.

  • Thickness. It can vary from 2.5 to 3 mm. However, putting such a design in heavy window blocks is not worth it. A large load may call into question its reliability.
  • Number of air chambers. The profile, whose thickness is 58 mm, has two chambers, less often it is equipped with three. This is quite enough for good thermal insulation. More chambers are available for the thicker profile, which is 70mm. It can have up to 5 cameras. Such profiles are most often used as glazing in apartments of high-rise buildings. If necessary, you can order a 90 mm product, it can have up to 6 chambers. The level of soundproofing and heat inside the room depend on their number. However, it is worth remembering that the number of glasses and the dimensions of the profile increase the mass of the structure, and the difference between the 3 and 4-chamber package is not very noticeable.
  • The number of double-glazed windows. Different brands plastic windows offer products with different amounts of these elements. Do not confuse them with air chambers. A double-glazed window is glass united with a frame and a sealant. Between them are air chambers, they can be filled with gas. The most lightweight is considered a single-chamber double-glazed window, since it includes a pair of glasses. Most often, such products are used for finishing terraces, balconies, loggias, since its mass is minimal, but such a window does not insulate heat well. For an apartment or a private house, it is better to use a thicker version that has three sheets of glass and two air chambers.

When choosing a double-glazed window, you should also be aware of such a feature of the product: the more glasses, the worse the light will pass through. Four-chamber products are installed in the server regions of the country; there is no need to install them in a warmer climate, this will only be an extra overpayment. If the frost does not exceed -40 degrees, the difference between this product and the three-chamber one will not be noticeable.

When choosing plastic windows, you must first of all pay attention to the quality of products, as well as make a purchase based on the purpose of the profile, the climatic conditions in which you live. It is worth remembering that too cheap material cannot be of high quality.

When installing plastic windows, the profile plays no less a role than the double-glazed window itself. The profile is the basis of the entire window structure. That is why it is worth approaching his choice very responsibly. Due to the large selection of profile systems, many are lost and do not know what to look for.

All profile products are divided into window and stand. Window profiles are the foundation for fixing the double-glazed window. That is why choose high-quality proven models.

A support profile for plastic windows is a plastic structure on which a window is attached. A window sill is attached to the base (base) profile. Also, this system has a site for attaching a drainage system. Often the height of the stand profile is 30 mm. Installed design hidden by a window and window sill.

The stand profile varies by price category. Budget options are made from recycled plastic. More expensive systems are made of white plastic.

In fact, the secondary material in this case does not affect anything except the price. Therefore, many professionals recommend taking budget options.

For plastic windows, two types of profiles are used: aluminum and PVC. PVC profile for plastic windows is much more economical and therefore more popular. They have good heat and sound insulation. At the same time, PVC construction is durable and beautiful. It allows you to perfectly fit the frame without gaps.

Plastic profile for windows is divided into three main price categories:

  • Economy
  • Classic.
  • Premium.

Profile systems of the class "Economy" are the cheapest. In terms of quality, they are significantly inferior to the other two. Economy class structures can be installed in rooms that are not affected by external factors.

"Classic" differs from "Premium" to a greater extent, the price. Their quality is about the same. The only thing that distinguishes them is that premium installations often have completely useless "bells and whistles" that do not affect the service life of a metal-plastic window in any way.

During installation, many people have a question, which profile is better for plastic windows.

When choosing, first of all, pay attention to the main indicators:

  1. Uniformity.
  2. Thickness.
  3. Number of air chambers.
  4. Profile width.

The homogeneity of the product can be assessed "by eye". Good uniformity indicates a quality product. At the same time, the graininess of the profile system often indicates a fake design.

The thickness of the plastic profile has a significant impact on the thermal conductivity and sound insulation of the product. It must be at least 3 mm. The thickness of the base of the window directly depends on the number of air chambers.

Profile chambers are small voids filled with air. This structure of these structures contributes to good thermal insulation. Most often, firms produce profile systems with a number of chambers from 2 to 5. But there are seven-chamber designs. They are intended for the far north.

  • Two-chamber profiles are mainly used for glazing balconies and loggias. They are considered the most budgetary.
  • For glazing rooms, the most optimal in terms of quality and price are three and four-chamber products.
  • Five-chamber structures are considered the warmest. But they have a significant drawback - a fairly high price.

Also, many experts argue that a large number of air chambers negatively affects the stability of structures to external factors - the sun, wind, rain. Such products may turn yellow and crack. In addition, the more chambers in the product, the softer it becomes. The design may not withstand the weight of the double-glazed window.

The profile width of plastic windows can vary from 60 mm to 90 mm. But the most optimal in terms of price and quality are 70 mm designs. In terms of quality, they are no worse than wide counterparts, but have a much lower price.

Market Review

All these requirements can be met by products from several companies. Therefore, many are wondering which company profile is better to choose for plastic windows.

In today's market, there are a huge number of manufacturers of metal-plastic structures. But experts advise choosing well-known trusted companies. The "promoted" companies seriously monitor the quality of their products. By choosing their products, you will definitely be sure that you have avoided a low-quality fake.

Choosing a Profile Manufacturing Company

Choose a trusted manufacturer

By quality and price, you can create a conditional rating of plastic profiles for windows.

The profiles of the KBE company are in the greatest demand in the modern market of metal-plastic structures. This German company appeared on the CIS market one of the first. It presents both budget options and more expensive ones. KBE products are environmentally friendly and are recommended for installation in kindergartens and medical institutions. KBE designs are considered one of the most durable. Their service life is 40-50 years.

Rehau profiles are very popular. This is a quality German company. In the designs of this manufacturer, high-quality environmentally friendly materials are used. Rehau also added a climate control function to their designs and a locking system that prevents entry into the house through the window. The only drawback of Rehau products is the small height of the sash.

The well-known company Veka has been losing ground a little lately. This is due to outdated design models in comparison with competitors. But the most important drawback of this manufacturer is the use of lead in the manufacture of structures. This radioactive element has a very negative effect on the human body, causing various diseases.

Lovers of interesting design solutions will appreciate Aluplast's designs. This manufacturer represents more than 40 decor variations. Aluplast is constantly developing various innovations in order to meet the requirements of the consumer more and more.

The disadvantage of these systems can be called their tightness. On the one hand, it contributes to good thermal insulation. On the other hand, such tightness contributes to the accumulation of vapors in the room and the room must be constantly ventilated.

Not very popular in the CIS countries and the first company that began to manufacture plastic windows - Trocal. The manufacturer's designs are quite strong, but they do not have any special distinguishing features from competitors.

Who else is striving to market today?

A novelty in the market of metal-plastic structures in the CIS countries is the Lg profile for plastic windows. Indeed, everyone is accustomed to seeing only the equipment of this company. In fact, in many countries, Lg products have already been evaluated as a good match between price and quality.

These window systems have good thermal insulation and long service life. The manufacturing company controls every stage of manufacturing the product, which is why they call their products “reliable”.

Whatever profile of plastic windows you choose, you should take care of the product seriously. Careful use of metal-plastic windows will prolong their service and will delight you for more than a dozen years.

To GREATLY simplify your profile selection be sure to watch the video below. At least for the first minute.

If you want to understand the criteria for choosing a PVC window, then one of the first indicators that experts recommend paying attention to is a PVC profile. Products are presented in various classes, each of which has its own characteristics. Having got acquainted with them, you will be able to choose the optimal type of window construction.

What should be a modern PVC window profile

To date, the main European quality standard for PVC window profiles is RAL-GZ 716/1.

It defines the following parameters for PVC products:

  • class A: external walls should reach 2.8 mm in thickness, internal - 2.5 mm;
  • class B: the thickness of the outer walls should not be less than 2.5 mm, the inner - 2 mm;
  • class C: external and internal walls can have almost any wall thickness.

Naturally, it is better to give preference to the profiles of the first two classes, which are distinguished by excellent parameters.

But class C products, if used, are only for installation in technical premises or for temporary service.

What is the difference between class A profiles and class B profiles?

Although the wall thickness of the profiles of these two classes differs slightly, their consumer characteristics are very different. When tested, class A products are ahead of class B products in many ways. If we talk about compliance with DIN EN 12608, then the strength reduction for a profile with reduced wall thickness is 25%, and the pull-out resistance of self-tapping screws is also reduced by 20%, by 15% the ability to maintain its shape decreases.

Therefore, PVC windows, in the design of which a class B profile is used, do not last as long as products of the first category.

And yet, the class B profile has an important advantage - a more affordable cost.

What profile of a plastic window is better to choose? Selection tips and manufacturer rating

It is for this reason that such products are especially popular.

Benefits of each class

Almost all manufacturers of profiles for PVC windows, whose products are presented in the markets of post-Soviet countries, offer products of classes A and B. Only the manufacturer VEKA offers consumers products of only the highest category.

Thanks to various types of profiles, their manufacturers try to satisfy the various wishes of their customers.

Therefore, each consumer can choose the most suitable product.

Class A profile will become the best option in the following cases:

  • when the client is used to getting only the best and is not ready to compromise on quality;
  • large cash costs are not a problem.

Class B profile may be preferred in the following cases:

  • there is no need for a large margin of safety and thermal insulation indicators, which are inherent in products of the highest category.

    This choice is fully justified for the installation of plastic windows in non-residential premises, buildings with seasonal residence or at industrial facilities;

  • The quality of a window structure is determined not only by the class of the profile.

For example, to achieve an increase in strength, you can use reinforcement. And the installation of a double-glazed window with several chambers will help to increase the heat-saving parameters.

Russian legislation allows glazing of residential real estate using profiles of classes A and B.

Thanks to this, the consumer can make his choice, taking into account the purposes and purpose for which the plastic window is purchased. The financial side of the issue is also of no small importance. After weighing in detail all the reasons, you can choose the most suitable type of profile.

Which profile is better?

It all depends on the conditions of application of the profile and the quality of manufacture of the metal-plastic structures themselves. The only difference is that the quality of the profile itself can be influenced by the human factor.

The data is taken from the Internet.

Everything you need to know about choosing a PVC profile

For the manufacturer of window and door structures made of plastic important indicators when choosing a supplier of components is the quality of the materials needed in the production, appropriate equipment and tools that employees have to work with.

Most of the properties of the finished product are mainly influenced by PVC characteristics profile - the basis of the design of a window or door. Why is it the profile that determines the reliability and durability of a window?

What types of profiles currently exist? How to choose a PVC profile?

Width and thickness of the plastic window profile

The owner of an apartment with a window made of cracked for decades of operation wooden frame, which, due to impressive gaps, often had to be sealed with strips of paper for the winter in order to preserve heat, he dreamed of changing it to a white hermetic PVC structure.

In the late nineties and early 2000s in Russia, having a plastic window at home was considered very prestigious, and its installation was certainly included in the estimate of the then-favorite expression “European-style renovation”, which not everyone could afford. The presence of a plastic window then emphasized the status of a tenant of a house or an office owner.

Over the years, plastic windows have become cheaper, and therefore more accessible to the mass audience of buyers, and now plastic windows and doors are installed almost everywhere. Windows are gradually being replaced in secondary housing apartments, developers often order plastic window and door systems, office partitions and entrance groups from manufacturers.

For the consumer, the advantages of a PVC window over windows with wooden frames became obvious:

  1. in houses with plastic windows it became quieter and warmer;
  2. there was no need to insulate and paint a wooden frame every year;
  3. a plastic window is cheaper than a wooden counterpart.

If at the beginning of the formation of this market, the end consumer did not impose special requirements on the quality of a plastic window - the main thing was the fact that he had it at home, then over time he began to understand installer companies, the number of which grew in accordance with demand.

Since the window of one brand is still different from the window of another, the consumer now has to study the issue more deeply - the client himself asks the question of the quality of components for assembling the finished product. Therefore, at present, the developer and the window installation company have to meet the increased requirements of consumers and are more responsible in choosing manufacturers of PVC profiles, double-glazed windows and fittings.

About PVC window profile material

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a white plastic, thermoplastic polymer of vinyl chloride.

Chemical formula: [-CH2-CHCl-]n. PVC is a product that is a chemical compound of carbon, hydrogen and chlorine, consisting of approximately 43% ethylene and 57% combined chlorine, which is obtained from rock and table salt.

We come across products from polyvinylchloride everywhere every day.

Corps household appliances, stationery, car parts, children's toys, disposable tableware, medical supplies, food packaging - all this is made of plastic. Material does not emit harmful substances, chemically stable and safe for humans. If we consider the environmental side of the issue, then PVC items that have served their time can be recycled many times and get a second life in new things.

Due to its versatility, barrier properties and environmental friendliness, PVC is also suitable for the manufacture of window profiles.

In its original form, PVC is a fine white powder. But for a window profile, PVC is not enough in pure form. Frost resistance and strength of the profile is provided by various additives. Each manufacturer has its own recipe for the technological composition of stabilizers and fillers.

PVC profile manufacturing process

PVC profile is made by extrusion. On the extruder, the polymer mixture is heated to the desired temperature, turning into a plastic liquid mass.

This mass is pressed through the forming tool, from where the profile blank comes out. Then it is pulled through the calibrators and cut into the desired segments.

Large manufacturers of PVC profiles carry out final control of geometric dimensions and weight running meter every hour.

A profile with deviations higher than those allowed by the technological regulations is sent to recycling.
Since the extrusion of window profiles is a thorough homogeneous mixing of all constituent parts recipes, then a material can be obtained, the spectrum of properties of which varies in the widest range. At the same time, the use of additives does not change the fundamental properties of PVC as a thermoplastic, which are decisive in the design of window structures.

Types and characteristics of PVC profiles

  1. PVC profiles differ in scope: window, balcony, door and facade.

For each of the options, the corresponding profile designs have been developed.

  2. Depending on the number of chambers, there are three-, four- and five-chamber profiles. These are the most popular options. Less common are two-chamber profiles (they are placed mainly in unheated rooms or as partitions). Profiles with six or more chambers are used in regions with severe frosty climates.

The more chambers in a double-glazed window and profile, the higher thermal characteristics window blocks.

  3. PVC profiles also differ from each other in such an indicator as width, which depends on the number and size of air chambers.

The width of the PVC profile system can vary from 46 mm (for two-chamber profiles) to 130 mm. Wide frames protect the slopes from freezing, and in the case of using profiles with an intra-profile self-ventilation system, they normalize air exchange, remove excess moisture, move the window inside the room, closer to heat flows.

  4. In addition to the width of the profile itself, there is such a parameter as the thickness of the outer (front) walls, which affects the strength characteristics of the PVC profile.
  5. The depth of insulating glass is another indicator that affects the characteristics of the window.

At the junction of the glass and the profile, a "cold bridge" is formed and heat is lost. In frosty weather, condensation may form around the perimeter of the window. In order to avoid the so-called "edge effect", profile manufacturers increase the depth of the double-glazed window to 25 mm.

  6. The reinforcing element in the profile of the frame, sash and impost is the basis of their stability under the influence of wind and thermal loads on them. Each profiled part of the window must contain a metal reinforcing insert made of galvanized steel, the thickness of the rolled product and the configuration corresponding to the system requirements.
  7. Important for the consumer are the aesthetic characteristics of the window. To satisfy this request of the customer of the window and door system, the PVC profile should be chosen based on its resistance to ultraviolet radiation, the possibility of choosing a color scheme.

To prevent the window from yellowing over time, the manufacturer must add a sun protection component. Currently, in addition to color, you can choose the texture of the plastic profile, for example, wood. Or pick a color entrance group in accordance with the corporate style of the enterprise. Plastic windows can be not only rectangular shape. Arched openings can also be closed with PVC construction. Round, triangular, polygonal windows are available to fulfill the architect's intent.

How to choose PVC profile

  1. First, decide on the purpose of the future product.
  2. Study the climate in the area where windows or doors will be used.
  3. Create an order budget.
  4. Decide on the brand of the manufacturer and the supplier of the profile.

Examine their assortment: whether their profiles will “cope” with the tasks set. Specify what equipment the production is equipped with, and from what raw materials the plant produces profiles. As a supplier, it is more reliable and profitable to choose an official representative of the plant, which has a set of preferential conditions and guarantees.

Narrow profile from VEKA

Today, plastic windows not only protect the room from cold, wind and noise, but also have an aesthetic value.

Plastic windows: everything you need to know

Many factors influence a person's mood, including a beautiful view from a modern window. in Vyborg, the climate does not indulge too much with sunny days, but every resident dreams of having as much sun as possible in his apartment on clear weather.

Thanks to the unique narrow profile VEKA EUROLINE from the Vyborg Window Factory company, the dream of Petersburgers becomes a reality.

The narrow profile of VEKA EUROLINE differs little from the standard profile of a similar model, but in terms of its parameters, the height of the profile installed on the sash, frame and impost is significantly lower. This information can be viewed in a table.

VEKA EUROLINE profiles in comparison

The use of a narrow profile in the installation of plastic windows does not in any way reduce their thermal insulation qualities, which is important for a simple user during operation.

According to the table, the mounting depth of the standard and narrow profiles have the same size, namely 58 mm. The number of cameras used in both variants is three. And you can get an answer to the question of the topic "NARROW PROFILE" by phone (go to contacts) or by writing us a letter.

Production of PVC windows

To become a window, a PVC profile must be properly processed and connected in one structure. The process of manufacturing a window or door block from plastic profiles is the same and represents a transport chain of a large number of operations.

Only strict adherence to technology and standards (GOST) at the assembly ensures quality finished products. But all of that is great.

In order to obtain a clean, regular window and a geometric window, it is important to build a manufacturing process based on quality raw materials. In particular, high-quality PVC profiles, reliable equipment and energy-saving double-glazed windows.

Supply of PVC and its storage

The PVC profile is supplied from the manufacturer in the store with a large pallet.

Frame, wings, impost, glazing - all these elements of the window are brought by whips packed in six-meter pallets. To make a window out of them, they must be cut into blanks of the required length according to the cutting specifications. Previously, they were stored in processor rooms equipped for this purpose.

PVC profile storage

In the future, the profile will focus on production line for windows where a new plastic window or PVC door is being produced.

He saw the profile

The profile is cut at an angle of 45 degrees and then welded into a frame or sheet.

The profile used for the production of windows has an internal space, which makes it more resistant to freezing, but at the same time weakens the power properties. In order for the window structure to be more stable and resistant to possible loads, a reinforcing steel frame is inserted into the central chamber of the profile.

This is also called a rebar profile.

Installation of the steel layer

Reinforcing (or reinforcing) PVC is a mandatory process for all types of windows that stand on a side greater than 400mm.

Otherwise the profile will not be stable even in case of linear expansion in case of temperature drop or mechanical action. However, for the manufacture of certain types of plastic windows, a reinforcing frame can be excluded.

For this type of products, there is a round, round and arched image. Profile enhancement

Production of window plastic windows

Arched windows and other PVC windows with a certain radius of curvature are made by bending in special tables.

Before bending the plastic whip, it must be heated to a temperature of 150 degrees Celsius. The bend becomes compatible, keeping the shape and certain geometry of the internal reinforcement.

Profile bindings in frames and skirts

When plastic profiles of a certain size are cast and reinforced with a reinforcing coating, they must form one window box: a frame or a sheet.

The most typical variant of connecting profiles is welding. The blocks are placed on the welding machine in the required sequence, their edges are heated to the melting point and pressed together.

profiles of the compound angle between welding power not only turn out to be worse than the strength of the corresponding profile, but also more (as in tests carried out in experimental laboratories).

However, the plastic-filled profile looks extremely unaesthetic and the next step needs to be cleaned up. For this purpose, use special cutting machines (grinding).

Discs and sawing exercises (cleaning) are configured to remove excess plastic and do not touch the underlying structure. After this step, the window frame and wing are prepared for the next procedure - the installation of fittings.

How to install accessories on PVC windows

Fittings - a set of metal elements (hinges and locking devices) that allow you to open and close the wing.

This is everything without which the window cannot be moved - and there is additional equipment.

Elements of this type are mounted on the frame and on the sheet.

Which profile is better for modern plastic windows?

To ensure that each element on the window frame matches the frame lock - all these processes are carried out in accordance with pre-marked sketches in accordance with the recommendations of the accessory manufacturer.

At this stage, the window is almost finished with the look and functionality, the only thing that is missing until it is fully prepared is the clear glass, which is installed in the next stage of the conveyor belt.

Glazing, installation of double glazed windows

Speaking about the glass filling of modern metal-plastic windows, it is worth mentioning the double-glazed window.

A double glazed block, unlike ordinary glass, is not only one sheet, but several sheets of glass fixed at a distance and sealed.

That's why the name is double glazing.

Today, glass blocks are made from different glasses, and the filling of the gap between the glasses can also be different. In the warmest (energy efficient) inert gas double glazing models, argon is induced in the cavity between the glass plates. It is heavier than air, so in winter it is better to prevent freezing and hot summer sun in summer.

We can talk about how the window turned out to be good at the end of fixing the last glazing.

Now the design (window or door block) should be validated correctly. This is the task of the QC inspector.

The product and the sealed unit show no signs of damage, the protective film is peeling off, the functionality is in the order of the state - this window is suitable for shipping to the customer and complaints are unlikely.
