Dadonghai Bay is the most luxurious resort on Hainan Island. Dadonghai Bay (China) - reviews of tourists. Negative, neutral and positive reviews of Dadonghai on the map of china

The busiest and most equipped beach in Sanya is located in Dadonghai Bay. It was here that the tourist infrastructure of the resort arose and continues to develop intensively. Dadonghai Bay has become a popular holiday destination in Hainan, an island dubbed the "Chinese Hawaii", by foreign tourists and locals alike.

The beach line, about 3 km long, is bounded on the sides by two mountains: Luhuitou and Tuiziwei, which means “Turned Deer” and “Hare Tail”. The coast is covered with fine golden sand with an admixture of shell rock. The water is clear, but due to the sandy suspension it seems unclear. The entrance to the sea is gentle, the depth increases gradually. At the bottom there are no stones, holes and corals. Algae may appear after a storm. The shallow waters are safe for children and non-swimmers. At high tide, the width of the coastline is 20-30 m; at low tide, the edge of the surf recedes by several tens of meters.

Dadonghai Bay Hotels

On the first line there are respectable hotel complexes with swimming pools, well-groomed gardens and a wide range of services. Such resorts have rooms overlooking the bay, umbrellas and sunbeds are on the coast for guests. The use of equipment is included in the price of accommodation and is not available for rent to other holidaymakers. The guards usually distinguish between "their" and "them" guests by towels with logos.

In addition to luxury accommodations with high level service, the hotel sector offers options for budget travelers. To relax comfortably and on a budget, you can find accommodation a little further from the coast, but also within walking distance from the sea.

Popular accommodation options in Dadonghai:

Weather

In Dadonghai Bay, summer reigns all year round. The high holiday season lasts from November to May. At this time, the probability of finding bad weather conditions is extremely low. In the winter months, there is practically no precipitation, the air temperature fluctuates between +20 °С ... +25 °С, it is cool at night: the thermometer sometimes drops to +15 °С. The summer period is characterized by rains and constant heat - up to +35 °С and above, the sea warms up to +30 °С.

From July to September, tropical downpours or a typhoon can overshadow your vacation. It is recommended not to plan a trip for February, when China celebrates the New Year on lunar calendar, and a long weekend begins in the country, much like in Russia during the New Year holidays. Hoteliers, shops, food outlets and taxi drivers are driving up prices, and the beach area is becoming like a human anthill.

Infrastructure

A palm alley has been planted along the coastal zone, providing abundant natural shade. The embankment is paved with paving slabs, and on the side it is supplemented with boardwalks and terraces. In the center of the square at the main entrance to the beach there is a sculptural composition depicting floating girls. To the right of the stairs leading to the sea, there are showers and toilets, wash basins and a mirror stand nearby, and taps for washing feet are also provided.

Swimming areas are fenced with buoys, swimming beyond which is strictly prohibited. If someone violates the ban, rescuers on the towers launch a quadrocopter with a red flag, and the drone patrols over the swimmer until he returns from the danger zone. Precautions are taken due to the fact that rip currents occur in the water area, when the outflow of a tidal wave can quickly drag a person away from the coast. Rip comes suddenly, and to avoid tragic accidents, signs that say "Rip Current" should not be ignored.

On the coastal territory there are tables with warnings and a map of the beach, as well as illuminated panels with information about the water temperature. An announcer's voice is heard from the loudspeakers, reading warning announcements in Chinese, Russian, and English. The looped recording is broadcast all day, which, judging by the reviews of Dadonghai, annoys many tourists. If you move away under the palm trees, then pleasant music will be heard from the speakers with the melodic sounds of the Chinese kunhou harp, accompanied by other instruments.

Remember to use repellant to avoid sand flea bites. After sunset, access to the sea is blocked by a ribbon. Cleaners maintain cleanliness from early morning until dusk, collecting household and organic garbage not only on land, but also catching nets from the water.

At night, a favorite backdrop for holiday photo shoots is the arched corridor at the Pearl River Garden Hotel, which is one of the exits to the beach. The backlight of the structure flickers with all the colors of the rainbow. A festive atmosphere is created by colorful garlands wrapped around tree trunks. Bright illumination with the onset of darkness turns on the facades of numerous restaurants and cafes, including those oriented towards guests from Russia (Moscow, Slavyanka, USSR). Cheap, tasty and satisfying meals will be served in public catering establishments, the so-called "chifanki" (from "chi fan" - "to eat"). Egg noodles cost 11 yuan, rice with seafood 25 yuan, meat with sweet and sour sauce 28 yuan, steamed dumplings 7 yuan. As a rule, the names of dishes on the menu are written in hieroglyphs without translation, photos will help you make a choice. Food Square is located near the Zima-Summer shopping complex. The portions are large everywhere, you can order one for two. Tipping is not accepted.

A wide range of goods and products is offered by the Pineapple shopping center, which is considered the best place for shopping in Sanya.

All typical water activities are available in the water area: banana and jet skiing, snorkeling and diving, boat trips and fishing. The catch can be taken to any of the restaurants and asked to be cooked. Diving centers organize dives for both beginners and experienced divers. IN coral reefs flocks of fish scurry about, turtles, mollusks and other representatives of marine fauna come across. Volleyball courts are equipped for lovers of active leisure. Group gymnastics classes are held.

Several centers operate in Dadonghai traditional medicine: Longevity Garden, Taiji Clinic, Do Wen Tian Medical Center and others. The complex of medical procedures includes massage, breathing exercises, reception herbal decoctions, acupuncture and reflexology.

It is important to stock up on cash, as some stores do not accept credit cards. At an ATM, it is better to immediately withdraw a large amount from the account for expenses so as not to pay a commission for each transaction.

This article is a complete guide to Hainan Island for 2019 with a description of places, prices, obtaining a visa and much more. In general, before going to Hainan Island, I read quite a lot of reviews, which often differed radically from each other. Some of the reviews about Hainan were positive and people said they would definitely come back. Other reviews were extremely negative, our compatriots did not like a lot of things on the island. In a separate article about the resort town of Sanya, he already shared his impressions, but today only useful information.

It is worth clarifying that the sights of Hainan Island are not of great interest to me, therefore I have not visited most of the national parks, which, along with the beaches, make up the main list of Hainan attractions. In the article, reviews of these parks are based on the opinions of local residents, vacationers, and are also partially based on reviews from the Internet. In the case of parks, my task was to find a place personally and indicate it on the map, so that in the future it would be easier to find it on my own. This article is part of a large guide to China.

you can see a map of Hainan Island with the main attractions. Not all the places that exist on this tropical island are on this map of attractions. Nevertheless, this map will be your faithful assistant when planning an independent route. Please note that under each label there are exact gps coordinates. You can transfer them to your phone or tablet to always be sure of the correct route.

hainan island map

hainan attractions

Basically, we will talk about places near the resort town of Sanya. As a rule, they go there to rest. We will also find out what sights of Hainan Island are in the north, in the vicinity of the city of Haikou.

Sights of Sanya. Beaches

Sanya Bay

The largest and one of the most visited beaches in Sanya. The beach in Sanya Bay stretches for several kilometers along the city, and getting here on foot is not difficult from anywhere in the city of Sanya. Pleasant sand and not a rocky bottom, but you need to be prepared for crowds of Chinese tourists. There are probably a lot of them here throughout the year.

Dadonghai Beach

Another very popular beach of Hainan Island and in particular the city of Sanya. Walking to it is not difficult if you live in the Sanya Bay or Dadonghai area. The beach is regularly cleaned, the sand and the bottom on most of the coast without stones. Here you will be offered a wide range of entertainment from water sports. Prices are quite reasonable for the services provided.

How to get there: on foot or by bus 26.

Small Dadonghai (Xiao Dadonghai)

Another beach in the Dadonghai area, but much smaller and less crowded. Pleasant fine sand, beach equipped with sun loungers and a good bottom. One of the best solutions for those who love a beach holiday.

How to get there: bus 26.

Yalong Bay

I liked Yalongwan Beach in Yalong Bay, first of all, with clear water and the presence of a huge number of water activities. The beach is quite large, the coast is not rocky, but it takes about an hour to get from Sanya by bus.

How to get there: bus 25.

Xidao Island

How to get there and cost: bus terminus 26 or bus 25. The ticket for the entrance to the park along with the ferry is 100 yuan.

Hainan reviews. Places around Sanya

We have reviewed the most popular beaches in the city of Sanya, now let's talk about how you can dilute your vacation. Hainan Island has a huge number of amusement parks and many places for families. In my opinion, not all of them are interesting and not all of them I had a chance to visit personally, but I’ll tell you how to get to them and what to see.

Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone (Big Buddha)

Basically, people come here to see the statue with their own eyes. big buddha and take a walk in a fairly large park. Many turn to the services of numerous travel agencies, but getting here on your own is very simple. From Sanya city, take bus 25 and go to the final stop. Then you need to walk 700 meters to the entrance to the park and you are there. No matter how hard you try, you won't get lost.

Road: bus 25 (final stop).

Opening hours and entrance fee: from 8.00 to 18.00 daily; 150 yuan for an adult and 78 for a child.

End of the Earth Park (Tianya Haijiao)

I have not been personally, but judging by the reviews, the place is for once. When I was near the park, there were a lot of buses from travel agencies, it is logical to assume that Chinese and Russian tour operators regularly take excursions here. Nearby there is a pier from where you can sail to the island of Sidao.

Road and entry price: bus 26 (end station) or bus 25. From October 1 to April 30, the entrance ticket costs 95 yuan, from May 1 to September 30, 80 yuan.

Pirate Island (Wuzhizhou Island)

Island with big amount various kinds of entertainment. You can get directly to the island from the pier quite quickly on high-speed boats. Probably the best solution would be to visit this place with children.

Road and entry price: bus 28, 130 yuan (includes entrance ticket and boat crossing in both directions).

Opening hours: from 8.00 to 17.30 (the box office closes at 16.00)

Monkey Island

An interesting place where you can see a large number of monkeys that are bred on the island. The main disadvantage is the road. If you get on your own, first you need to go to the town of Lingshui for more than an hour, and then to Xincun town, from where the cable car to the island is stretched. If you decide to go on your own, check at the station, perhaps there will already be direct buses to the cable car in Xincun town. The entrance ticket includes the cable car to the island, entrance to the park and a bus ticket from the island.

Entrance price: 68 entrance ticket, 30 cable car.

Schedule: from 8.00 to 17.30.

Deer Turning Head Park

It is located in the Dadonghai area and it is better to go there closer to sunset. Then you will have the opportunity to watch the sunset and admire the lights of Phoenix Island at night.

Road and entrance fee: bus 54 or 26; 42 yuan.

Schedule: 7.30 – 22.30.

Phoenix Island

It's funny, but what I liked most about Phoenix Island was when I was in Sanya. Exclusively right time to visit Phoenix Island, evening time. There are practically no people, the island is illuminated by lights, it is quite small and you can safely walk. Before entering the bridge leading to Phoenix Island, you will need to take a small open car, which transports tourists to the other side. Get off at the first stop and go where your eyes look.

Road and entry price: any bus running along Sanya bay; for free.

Yanoda Rainforest

Getting here on your own is not so easy, since there are no direct regular buses. Alternatively, you can buy a bus ticket to Wuzhishan City and ask the driver to stop near the turn to the park (the turn is marked with ). But you will have to catch a passing bus back to Sanya. In China, this is a common practice, so do not worry, not one like the other, it will definitely stop. I read that there are free shuttles from several popular hotels, but I could not find these shuttles.

Entrance price: 160 yuan, but for some activities there is a separate fee directly in the park.

Schedule: from 7.30 to 18.00.

Five Finger Mountain (Wuzhishan, Five Finger Mountain)

Near the city of Wuzhishan is the highest point of Hainan Island. In fact, you will not be allowed to rise. It was not possible to understand why most of the hiking areas were closed. It seems like the area is blocked by the military. There is some kind of small park, but it’s a waste of time to drive more than two hours just because of it.

Road: 25 RMB per bus from Sanya Bus Terminal.

Seven Fairy Mountain (Qi Xian)

The only reason to go to Wuzhishan is to visit the hills near the town of Baoting. There are no direct messages from Sanya. First you need to get to Wuzhishan, then buy a ticket to Baoting.

Hainan reviews. Locations around Haikou City

There is little that I can tell about Haikou, although I was there for several days. In fact, not far from the city you can see a park with volcanoes and drop by the beach along the way. Both are on the map. According to the story of one Irishman, the park with volcanoes is small, you can easily get around it in an hour, and the best way to get there, you will rent a bike in one of the hostels. If you happen to visit Haikou, I highly recommend Banana hostel.

Holiday season in Hainan

If we talk about the holiday season in Hainan, the most auspicious time to visit Hainan Island from the second half of September to May. In September-October, the air temperature is still quite high after the summer heat and stays at around 30 degrees Celsius. In the winter months, from December to February inclusive, on Hainan Island the temperature often drops to +17 +20, which is quite comfortable. The only drawback of the winter months is the Chinese New Year. At this time, we should expect a large influx of tourists from all over China.

If you are interested in the weather on Hainan Island by months, a more detailed report was made in a separate article - Weather now in Hainan.

How to get to Hainan?

There are several ways to get to Hainan Island. The easiest way is to take a direct flight to one of the two international airports in the cities of Sanya or Haikou. Upon arrival, you will receive a visa on arrival for 14 days. It is written in more detail about a visa on arrival, there will also be a link to a detailed article on how to get a visa to China.

Hainan Airport

Hainan Island has two international airports, in Sanya City and Haikou City. If you are flying on a package tour, most likely your flight will be to the city of Sanya.

Hainan Airport, Meilan (Haikou City)

Meilan Airport, located in the capital of Hainan Island, Haikou, serves a huge number of international flights every year. It is located 25 kilometers from the center of Haikou. Getting a taxi from the airport to the city center will cost about 70-80 yuan. Regular buses will cost 30 yuan, half an hour on the way.

Sanya Phoenix Airport

Phoenix Airport, in the resort city of Sanya, is located about 15 kilometers from the center. The airport is modern, serving many flights every day. There are two ways to get from Phoenix Airport to downtown Sanya.

  • Bus number 8, going directly from the airport. The cost is 5 yuan, the journey takes about an hour, the operating time is from 6.00 to 23.00.
  • Taxi. At the exit of the airport, you can take a taxi that will take you anywhere in Sanya. The journey takes about 30 minutes, the cost is 60-100 yuan, depending on the distance.

How long is the flight to Hainan?

It takes quite a long time to fly to Hainan from any city in Russia. We list the flight time for direct flights to Hainan in the most popular destinations:

  • How long is the flight from Moscow to Hainan? Fly to Hainan ~ 11 hours.
  • What is the flight time for Novosibirsk Hainan? Fly to Hainan ~ 6 hours.
  • Hainan Irkutsk flight time? Fly to Hainan ~ 5 hours.
  • How long is the flight to Yekaterinburg Hainan? Fly to Hainan ~ 7 hours.
  • How long is the flight from Vladivostok to Hainan? Fly to Hainan ~ 4 hours.

How to get to Hainan from mainland China

Most people fly to the south of China in the cities of Hong Kong or Guangzhou. Consider how to get from Hong Kong to Sanya by land. If you arrive in Guangzhou, the itinerary for you will be identical, it will just start in Guangzhou itself. There is no direct land connection between Hong Kong or Shenzhen to Sanya.

First of all, you need to get to the railway or bus station in Guangzhou (both stations are on the Guangzhou attractions map. Details on how to get from Hong Kong to Guangzhou are written in the Hong Kong guide. best solution will buy a ticket for the night train, thereby saving time and effort. The train leaves in the evening and arrives in the morning. The bus option is worse for two reasons. Firstly, it’s not a fact that you will get a lying bus, in which case you will have to sleep while sitting. Secondly, you will need to cross the ferry on your own. I was not lucky in this regard, because I traveled to the south of China on the Chinese New Year and train tickets were not available. Both times I traveled by bus.

If you chose the train option, then you will arrive at Haikou Dong East Station (marked for Hainan). If you chose the bus, from the pier you will still need to get to the railway station on your own. There are high-speed trains from the East Station to Sanya. Travel time is less than two hours. Buses to Sanya follow from the same station, but the journey takes about five hours.

Prices for transport on the route Hong Kong - Sanya (prices in yuan):

  • Train Shenzhen-Guangzhou - 100
  • Guangzhou-Haikou - 300 for the train and 290 for the bus (including the ferry 41 yuan)
  • Haikou-Sanya - 100 per train and 50 per bus

Visa to Hainan

Upon arrival at Sanya Phoenix International Airport or Haikou International Airport, you can obtain a visa on arrival for a period of 14 days. Applying for a visa will not take much time and will require a standard list of documents from you. I wrote more about obtaining a visa to Hainan and obtaining other types of visas to China in a separate article - Visa to China.

hainan sanya

Sanya is a good place to spend your holidays. For lovers of a beach holiday, the resort town of Sanya in Hainan will be the right place. If you are not afraid of a large number of our compatriots and slightly inflated prices relative to mainland China, you can safely plan your vacation in Sanya. I will write a little more of my impressions in the article - Sanya China.

Hainan Hotels

China has a huge choice of hotels for budget travelers and those who are used to traveling, living in the best and most expensive hotels. Sanya is no exception to the rule, here you can easily find hotels and hostels to suit your budget. I decided to make a separate review of Sanya hotels, you can read it here - Hainan hotels.

Hainan vacation how much is it?

How much a vacation on Hainan Island costs will greatly depend on your preferences. Budget hostels, most often located in the Dadonghai area, start at 40 yuan for a bed in a dormitory. Luxury rooms in luxury hotels can reach several thousand per room.

If you eat in small restaurants near the hostels, "standard" rice with chicken and vegetables will cost 50-80 yuan, while moving away 500 meters from the tourist places and eating in the same place as the locals, the same dish will cost 15 yuan. Depends on your tastes and requests.

There are many excursions offered by numerous local and Russian travel agencies operating in Sanya. I can’t give you an idea of the prices for excursions, because I traveled everywhere myself. How to get to most popular places in the vicinity of Sanya wrote above in the article.

On the island of Hainan and especially in Sanya, tourists are offered a huge selection of various kinds of entertainment. Basically, these are water sports. Arriving at Yalong Bay, you can try diving, ride a water scooter or dive to the bottom of the sea. At Dadonghai, you will be offered to fly over water or fly with a parachute attached to a boat.

Prices in bars for alcohol start at 35 yuan for a glass of beer. As for the bars, in Sanya we managed to find only a couple of really interesting bars the others were not impressed. There are a lot of small restaurants on the shore, but the main contingent in them is Chinese.

If you came with a group or met someone already upon arrival, the right decision would be to rent a car for 5-6 people and see a lot in one day. The issue price is about 400 yuan for a comfortable minibus.

Hainan with a child

Walking around Sanya, it is striking how many people on the island of Hainan and in the city of Sanya in particular, travel with their families. Flying to Hainan with a child is a great idea if you are looking for a comfortable and safe place to stay. Speaking of Sanya, the town itself is small, moving around it is convenient and inexpensive, and there is a huge amount of entertainment for children.

You can spend time on one of the beaches, go to one of the many amusement parks or national parks. Relative to the countries of Southeast Asia, it will be a little expensive, but relative to a similar holiday in Europe, it will be much more economical. The choice is yours whether to go to Hainan with a child or not.

Sea is warm. But you can’t go into the sea: the waves knock you off your feet. With children, do not swim at all, only wet your feet. We rested at the beginning of June. Haven't seen calm water

Dadonghai Bay is located in the heart of Sanya. The beach line is not big, about two kilometers. We ourselves lived in Sanya Van Bay (Sanya Bay), and ended up in Dadonghai when we arrived in the city to walk around shopping centers and go for a massage. I felt very sorry for the people who chose this bay for recreation. There is no sea at all, it is some kind of dirty slurry, filled with boats and boats. There is no beach either, the sand is dirty, with garbage, some people go back and forth, in general, you won’t be able to lie down and relax. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants near the beach with terribly screaming music, so you won’t be able to enjoy the sound of the surf either. Of course, there are people who are not interested in all this and they came to the city to hang out, but in my opinion Sanya is not the best place for noisy parties. The only plus of Dadonghai, but it is also controversial, is the presence of many shopping centers, shops and markets nearby. But you can come to them anyway, for a day. In general, this is not the best place to stay in Hainan. Choose Sanya Bay and get kilometer-long, clean beaches and blue sea.

Neutral Feedback

Positive reviews

We traveled with a 6 year old child. The beach is sandy, the child played with pleasure. He built castles, pastiches. The sea is cool, transparent, clean. The only waves. But we enjoyed jumping on them and the child was very pleased. For adults, of course, there is not enough place to swim. The buoys are very close to the shore.

The beach is clean, with a fairly wide coastline. The beach is divided into territories belonging to specific hotels. You can understand this only from the signs, that is, in fact, you can sit anywhere if you find a free sunbed)) there are very, very few of them for each hotel and they quickly take care of the towels of our compatriots. There are also areas with paid sunbeds and umbrellas. And you can sit or lie down just like that on the sand by the water or under the palm trees. Lifeguards take the safety of the water very seriously. Along the beach there is a whole street with restaurants and a shady alley with palm trees.

Visited in March 2017

On a weekday, or in the very early morning, there will always be people on Dadonghai. The beach itself is very elongated, to walk along the coast you will need at least half an hour. To the left of the beach, where the rocks are already visible, there is a white piano! There are constantly organizing various kinds of photo shoots. No matter how we got there, there was always someone there. Along the entire coast, one after another, there are restaurants where you can cool off in the heat, or warm up on a cool day. There is a bar about in the middle, you will recognize it by the surf boats, where only foreigners gather! Everyone on the beach knows about it, so if you ask anyone, they will immediately show you the way. By law, around two in the morning, all nightclubs must be closed, even nightclubs. But on some Saturdays, this bar is open until dawn. When we got into it for the first time, we generally forgot that we were in Sanya. There were a lot of Russian guys and we had a lot of fun! The bay stretches along two bus stops, somewhere between them there is a shopping center with signs in Russian. You will be surprised, but even Chinese sellers speak Russian, and you can easily get the thing you need, or explain what you need. Dodonghai Bay contains many places for recreation, so you definitely will not be bored!

China is my favorite country! Here you can plunge into the wonderful atmosphere, see the sights, do some great shopping, and of course, have an unforgettable rest. This fall, I decided to go to Hainan and chose Dadonghai Bay for this. A great place with picturesque landscapes, which is located close to the city of Sanya (2-3 kilometers). Of the pluses, one can single out a quieter and more comfortable atmosphere, with which Sanya has little problems, as well as a significant difference in price. A vacation is not a vacation without restaurants and bars on the coast, and that's all right here. Dadonghai has many excellent establishments that are open all night long. In addition, the beaches of Dadonghai are just super. There is a huge variety of exotic fish here, on the shore you will find many beautiful shells and corals, as well as sea turtles and crabs. In general, unforgettable tropics with lots of autumn sun and palm trees. You can get to Dadonghai directly from Sanya by bus number 8 (the cost of the trip is 5 rubles, and its duration is 7-10 minutes).

Last year, my sister and I visited island China. The island was called Hainan, with the capital Sanya. Taking an excursion to Dadonghai Bay, we visited the mountain "Deer turned its head", walked around the park and looked at Dadonghai Bay from the mountain. The view is very beautiful. The view from the mountain to this bay looks very beautiful. In the Dadonghai Bay there is a man-made island on which buildings are being built - copies of towers like in the city of Dubai. Opposite them are apartment buildings, the cost of which is too high, due to the beautiful view from the windows. Dadonghai Bay impressed us with its rich flora and fauna. We walked around the park in this bay, where "barking frogs" live. In the park on the mountain, coconuts were sold that grow in this particular region of China. We drank the milk of these coconuts through ordinary straws. The taste of these coconuts is incredibly sweet.

On the mountain "The deer turned his head" we were for a long time. We were told the legend of the name of this mountain, associated with love for a beautiful goddess. We took pictures at the pot-bellied god that brings income. He needed to stroke his stomach in order to replenish his material well-being.

From the first minutes we experienced a culture shock from what we saw. Crazy traffic on the roads, it feels like there are no rules at all. A huge number of mopeds, entire families of three or even four people! I move on one two-wheeled transport, and sometimes with a pet in my legs. The bus driver goes into the oncoming lane, everyone around them honks. This is something)) But later we learned that, according to statistics, there are much fewer accidents in China than in our country.

Sanya is a wonderful city, it charmed us right away. These majestic palm trees, tropical flowers everywhere, a truly fabulous island. And the fruit… Delicate mangosteens, ripe large mangoes, “fragrant” durian)) Paradise. By the way, the durian turned out to be delicious, of course it doesn’t smell very good, but we persuaded the whole durian for three and we wanted more. Separately, I want to mention coconuts, what we sell cannot be compared. Still try to drink a sweet, huge coconut ... And if you drink, the seller can split it in front of you to get the pulp.

But the best thing is the seafood. Tiger prawns, oysters and various brightly colored fish. And fried and boiled and barbecued, just a foodie's paradise.

We stopped at Dadonghai Bay. The sea is clean, the beach line stretches for hundreds of meters. In the morning, grandparents do exercises and practice tai chi, a lot of athletes jogging, a healthy nation! We, in turn, quickly borrowed best places to get your portion of ultraviolet before lunch. And in the afternoon we went to have a hearty meal in coastal cafes.

But most of all we remember trips to local attractions. Thermal springs alone are worth it. Pool with wine, coffee, lemongrass... dozens of different fillings, and all with a special miracle effect. Monkey Island teeming with macaques trying to take away everything you hold in your hands, we heard that cameras and phones were even stolen from someone, so be careful. And we especially remember the center of Buddhism with a huge statue of the goddess protecting Hainan from typhoons. A huge number of Buddhists come here from all over China to pray.

We collected tropical gifts for all relatives, two baskets of fruit, two silk blankets and various teas. We want to say special thanks to the guys from the Silk Road store for a large number of good advice and delicious tea! And we were very pleased with the unique assortment of gifts. Good luck to your business!

Well, perhaps that's all. Although the time flew by quickly, we had a good rest. Hainan was the right choice!

Hello to all readers of my review.

In this review, I want to continue talking about our trip to China, to Hainan Island.

And today I will tell you about Dadonghai Bay, this is the place where our hotel was located.

Dadonghai Bay is located a few kilometers from the city of Sanya.

The resort area located in this bay is relatively small. And all of it, we easily walked around on foot, somewhere in an hour, at a leisurely pace.

At first, I got the impression that I was in one of the Russian resorts. We met such a number of compatriots everywhere, on the street, in a hotel, on the beach.

But then it became clear that there were still more Chinese.

The first place we went was to the wonderful beach of Dadonghai Bay.

After that, we decided to explore the surrounding area.

The whole bay is very green, many different tropical exotic trees, in the shade of which you can hide from the mercilessly scorching sun.

After all, we are not used to walking under umbrellas in the heat, as the Chinese do.

Almost all the big buildings here that we met on the way are mostly hotels. But there are also houses.

But despite the rather dense buildings, in Dadonghai we found a fairly large and very beautiful park, with a lot of palm trees. Which, by the way, grow here everywhere.

Also in Dadonghai there are several large shopping centers. Here is one of them. Very beautiful shopping center "Pineapple"

Near which is the food area. It works only in the evening and the prices there are not the cheapest.

In Dadonghai, there are no problems with places to eat and just have a snack. Almost every corner hangs a sign of a restaurant or cafe. There are many establishments where you can taste fresh fish or crabs.

There is also a food street, which we love so much, because of our own, most low prices for food in all of Dadonghai. It is not very big, but there are several cafes where they cook delicious food and where the Chinese themselves eat. Also, on this street there are eateries with local, not at all expensive street food.

Everywhere there are shops with delicious fruits. Their prices are on par. But no one forbade bargaining and bringing down the price a little. And if you wish, you can buy fruits half the price from your hands. Without any trade. And of course, there are many tea shops where you can buy delicious tea after tasting it. The only thing that is scarce in Dadonghai is electronics stores, I saw only one not at all big store. Or rather, with phones. There isn't much choice and the prices are high. So if you suddenly have a desire to buy electronics, then you'd better go to Sanya for it. And when buying, without fail, always bargain. Even in branded stores. Despite the fact that Dadonghai Bay is a very densely built-up and densely populated area. The streets were always clean, thanks to the large number of janitors dressed in orange uniforms. For all the time of our vacation there, there was not a single time that we did not go out into the street and did not stumble upon a couple of three cleaners who carefully swept everything. All bushes and grass are thoroughly watered every day. Almost all the mopeds that the Chinese ride there are electric. There are many electric cars and buses. The only annoying factor for me, at first, was the moment that absolutely no one let us through when crossing the road, even if we were at a pedestrian crossing. And the thing is that in China, transport has priority, whether it be a car or a moped. In this regard, you must be very careful.

And of course, the endless hum of klaxons emitted by all modes of transport did not let us relax in the first days.

All in all, Dadonghai Bay is a great place to relax.

Not many direct flights from Novosibirsk are offered to Siberians. You can fly to China year-round to Beijing and Urumqi, in winter the flight flies to Hong Kong, and in summer - now to Shanghai.
Non-stop charter flights from Novosibirsk to the only tropical island of Hainan were first operated in 2007. Our company took part in the first winter programs 2007/2008 and 2008/2009.

This is how our Chinese partners met our tourists in Hainan.

Then came the crisis and a short break in the programs. Along with the crisis, federal tour operators came to our market, which a little later again put charter flights to Sanya (Hainan).
At the end of 2014, the winter program that had just begun was curtailed.
And now, almost two years later, flights to Hainan have been restored again.
Since this is a rapidly growing resort, there are significant changes every year. We inspect and monitor all innovations. That is why it became necessary to remind everyone who had previously vacationed in Hainan and plans to repeat this experience, as well as to tell those who are going there for the first time about new areas and hotels.
Let's start with the most popular area, which is different from other areas of the island - Dadonghai Bay.

Brief information about Hainan

Hainan is the name of an island and province in southern China.
Translated from Chinese, "Hainan" literally means "Sea South".
Area - 34,000 sq. km. It is the second largest island after Taiwan.
Hainan is the only tropical island in China.
The island is washed by the South China Sea.
The island is shaped like sea turtle sailed close to the shore.
The width of the strait between the mainland and the island is 20 km.
The relief of the island is mountainous and flat. Mountains and foothills occupy 40% of the territory.
There are several extinct volcanoes on the island, to the craters of which tourist routes are laid.
Thermal springs are scattered throughout the island.
The tropical forests of Hainan, which resemble the mountain forests of Indochina, are rich in endemics (i.e. animals and plants not found in other regions of the world).
There are no industrial enterprises on the island, so this is one of the most environmentally friendly places on Earth.

DADUNGHAI

Infrastructure

Dadonghai Bay is the center of the evening tourist party, where restaurants, cafes, discos, nightclubs, shops are located (food streets are marked with red lines on the map).

The main landmarks are the shopping centers Leto, Zima and Pineapple.

Tourists will find gastronomic diversity here.
Of course, first of all, you need to try seafood. The area is famous for restaurants and cafes with open showcase aquariums, as seafood here is valued only alive and is immediately prepared in front of guests.

Chinese cuisine presented different regions. But, if you are not a fan of Asian cuisine, then go to fast food. There are also American-Europeanized bars here, such as the very popular Dolphin Sport Bar & Steak House.

There is always something to surprise when traveling.
In Hainan, I was surprised by the signs. There was a feeling that in some places only Chinese and Russians were expected, because there were no signs in public English.

And there were signs even without the Chinese language.

Beaches

The length of the beach in Dadonghai Bay is about 2 km. The beaches are municipal, but hotels can have their own section of the beach with free sunbeds for their guests.

Dadonghai Bay, located 4-5 km from Sanya, is very popular among the local population, and since the beaches in China are municipal, there are too many Chinese on the beaches in the late afternoon.
As you know, the Chinese are quite unceremonious - they talk loudly and a lot, spit, bathe not in swimming trunks, but in their underwear. Think of it as a local flavor. In Goa, too, cows walk along the beach. But some tourists see them as completely different from cows, even beautiful and buffalo-like.

The whole truth about cleanliness in Hainan
Hainan will not surprise you with anything particularly unpleasant. Dadonghai is the same central Pattaya or Patong in Phuket.
It is clear that there are many tourists who can litter a lot. So in the morning, when not everything has been removed, you can see the following picture:

But then everything will be removed and the resort will turn into a standard tourist place.

Hotels

Finally, hotels.

Choosing hotels in Dadong is not very difficult. Our offer includes about a dozen hotels. These are not dozens in the likes of Patong or Central Pattaya.

There are not very many criteria for selection either - location, altitude, novelty and freshness, and, of course, service.

Location

Dadonghai is a horseshoe-shaped bay in which the farthest hotel The Guest House International 4 * is located just 1 km from the beach, but at the same time close to the street of bars, restaurants and Yu Ya shopping centers.

This map clearly shows the location of hotels in the resort.

All hotels on the first line from the beach are separated by a promenade.

A feature of the best hotel in the Sanya Marriott Dadunhai Bay 5 * is that, being located on the first line, the hotel does not have a beach - there are stones here. And to the beach, which is 1 km away, they take a shuttle.

Novelty

The first hotels in Dadonghai appeared in the early 90s:

  • South China 4* - built in 1992, renovated in 2015.
  • Hawaii Resort 4* - built in 1994, renovated in 2012.
  • Sanya City Link 3* - built in 1998.
  • Hyton Resort 4* - built in 1998, renovated in 2012.
  • Sanya Marriott Dadonghai Bay 5* (ex. Shanhatian) - built in 1999, complete rebranding and renovation - 2016.

Construction then continued into the early 21st century.
Regarding new hotels, we include Sanya Jinjiang Baohong 4 * (ex. Rendez-vous, built in 2005, renovated in 2008) and Barry Boutique 5 * (built in 2013).

Territories and floors

In Dadonghai, there are beach hotels with relatively small areas (usually 1 line), and city-type hotels.
Basically here high-rise buildings- 5-10 floors. There are also skyscrapers.

Hotel Service

So, what kind of service do hotels in Dadonghai offer:

  • There are swimming pools in all the hotels we offer, except for Sanya City Link 3*.
  • Gyms are free and open in all hotels except Sanya City Link 3* and Sanya Hawaii resort 4*.
  • SPA centers are available at the 5* Sanya Marriott Dadonghai Bay hotel and some 4* hotels.
  • For families with children, hotels on the 1st line are suitable - Sanya Marriott Dadonghai Bay 5 *, Sunshine Resort Intime 5 *, Pearl River Garden 4 * and a hotel on the 2nd line Barry Boutique 5 *. All of these hotels have kids clubs.
  • The peculiarity of the rooms: in many hotels there are rooms both without balconies and with balconies. There are no balconies in Sanya City Link 3* and Sanya Hawaii resort 4* hotels. And vice versa, all rooms have balconies in The Guest House International 4 * hotels and, despite their 36 floors - Barry Boutique 5 *.

Prices for tours on direct flights from Novosibirsk can be viewed

Before the trip, we shoveled reviews for a long time about where is the best place to stay in Hainan. Traditionally, the entire flow of tourists is divided into three parts that follow to Dadonghai and Sanya. Every location has its pros and cons. We decided to choose Dadonghai for ourselves. The choice was due to the availability of relatively inexpensive hotels and the availability of a variety of entertainment in Dadonghai. Were our hopes justified?

Dadonghai Beach is quite long, probably a little more than two kilometers. The beach itself is wide and clean. The sand is yellowish, but very pleasant and airy. Walking on such soft sand is a real pleasure. But it is precisely because of this sand that the water seems muddy and dirty. The sand is very fine, due to this it easily rises in waves, so we get “dirty water. The entrance to the sea is very comfortable and smooth. The bottom is sandy, without large stones.

The next feature, very “unexpected” for Hainan, is that Dadonghai is very, very crowded. And this is supposedly in the low season. There are very few European-looking tourists, but the locals love this beach very much. The people are full.

Despite such pandemonium, we were able to find a quiet and secluded corner for ourselves even on Dadonghai Beach. Almost the entire coastline has been landscaped for a long time. However, at the right end of the beach, work is still underway to improve the embankment, apparently for this reason, there are not many people in this part.

On the beach there are toilets and it is possible to change clothes.

embankment dadonghai

There are a lot of restaurants on the waterfront. Mostly seafood restaurants. But we also met a cafe with Russian and European cuisine.

We did not manage to taste seafood for a number of reasons. Firstly, cafes are literally packed with locals and there are no empty seats. It is somehow inconvenient for a company of three people to occupy round huge tables, designed for twenty people. The second surprise is rather high prices.

We went to a cafe with European cuisine. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the cafe, I highly do not recommend it. The cafe is located approximately in the middle of the embankment, stands out with loud European live music. We ordered grilled ribs and seafood soup. The ribs are disgusting, just bones with no meat. Soup is starch slurry with a lone shrimp. As for the price? For the same money, the three of us could easily have dinner for three or even four days at the noodle shop working at our hotel.

Shops in Dadonghai

Dadonghai has a huge variety of shops. Including the well-known shopping center Summer Mall. Where there is duty-free right there, but we didn’t look for it. Fairly good shopping center Pineapple. Nice building in the shape of a pineapple. Many shops where you can buy mono by weight Chinese tea, souvenirs, beach things.

Where to stay in Dadonghai Bay? Dadonghai Bay Hotels

Below is a list of the most famous and comfortable hotels in Dadonghai.

  • the hotel is on the first line. But even despite the fact that the sea is within walking distance, an elevator has been built for the especially lazy. You can take the elevator from the hotel down to the beach without walking down the street.
  • - located a little further from Dadonghai beach. You have to walk for five minutes. It is from this hotel that buses leave for.
  • - the hotel is a little further from the beach, but still within a 10-minute walk. But it differs significantly in cost from the previous ones. One of the disadvantages of the fact that the hotel is not on the first line is the lack of own sunbeds on the beach.
  • - The hotel is new and clean.

How to get from Sanya Airport to Dadonghai?

As usual, the easiest way to get from Sanya Airport to Dadonghai Beach is by taxi. An official taxi will cost you about 60 yuan. As soon as you leave the airport, private taxi drivers will attack you and offer to bring you for 150 yuan. For those who do not like to bargain and fight off intrusive taxi drivers, but like comfortable trips, you can order a transfer to the hotel in advance.

At the exit of Sanya International Airport, there is nothing but private taxis. But if you go up to the right to the domestic airport, there is immediately a choice of taxis and, most importantly, buses. You will see white buses with blue inscriptions, that's what we need. These buses run from the airport to Dadonghai with few intermediate stops. If you are going to Dadonghai, then tickets will cost you 15 yuan per person. Tickets can be bought right there from the girls at the box office. You need to go to Lu Ling Street. Taking advantage of the fact that we do not understand the inscriptions in Chinese at all, taxi drivers offered us their services right at the entrance to this cheap bus. About 20 minutes later, the bus driver took pity and pointed at the stop we needed.

Our review of Dadonghai

10 days at Dadonghai, what can you say about this place? In general, we did not like the beach, it is much better on the nearby beach of the Intercontinental hotel or on. But on the other hand, there are a lot of different places where you can eat inexpensively and buy souvenirs. Well-developed public transport. All interesting places in Sanya are easily accessible from Dadonghai. In the end, we travel, and do not sit for days on our home beach. I can safely recommend this bay to those who want to relax on a budget and do not plan to sit in one place.
