Useful tips when choosing furniture. How to choose the right interior in an apartment, house? How to choose the color of the kitchen, bedroom, upholstered furniture in the living room? The best bedrooms. Photo

Today "my home" is not only "my fortress", but also the place where we spend most of our lives. At home we relax, study, raise children, have fun, and some even work at home. Properly furnished apartment helps to relieve stress after work, creates a feeling of comfort and harmony in the family. But, living in a constant rush, we often approach the interior design irresponsibly, and do not always buy the furniture that could make our life more comfortable.

The leading designer of CJSC "Involux" Ulyana Sergeenko shared the secrets that helped the company create furniture that is in demand not only in the CIS, but also in the Czech Republic, Italy and Germany, as well as win many prestigious awards. Using the advice of a professional, you can choose beautiful, comfortable and ergonomic furniture for the nursery, bedroom, living room and hallway.

First of all, you should decide in what color scheme you would like to decorate your home. There is an important detail here: each color has a different effect on your mood. Moreover, according to psychologists, even one color can have a different effect on people, depending on their age, gender and temperament.

So, in children, blue awakens creativity and inspiration, stimulates a craving for learning. While for older people it has a more pronounced calming effect: according to studies, in adults, the sight of blue lowers blood pressure, slows breathing, reduces appetite and muscle tension.

Some furniture companies, including us, take consultations from psychologists in order to choose the optimal design of collections for different rooms depending on who lives in them and how they spend their time.

The color of the room affects the mood

If the area of the room is small, but you want to furnish it with taste - pay attention to the collection of modular furniture. They allow you to buy not the whole set, but only what you need, and assemble the desired composition from matching parts, like a designer.

This option is great when combining two rooms in one. For example, an office and a bedroom.

Modular collections allow you to buy only those pieces of furniture that you really need.

Children's

Your child does not need a huge table and a chic leather chair to emphasize the status and high position. But this does not mean at all that he will get by with a spring bed and a cabinet hastily knocked down from pieces of plywood.

A well-furnished nursery will not only please your child, but also protect him from bruises during falls (if the child is very young), help him develop and learn, stimulate activity and creative thinking, develop independence and responsibility.

The first thing you need to know about children's rooms is that you should not divide the room into rigid functional areas: "study", "bedroom" and "playroom". After all, by such actions you can easily arouse in your child an aversion to learning.

In a good nursery, everything is located nearby: a bed, a computer desk, a wardrobe. It is also important to choose spacious shelves and drawers that will fit a growing fleet of vehicles or an ever-growing collection of favorite dolls, so as not to shift them from place to place and avoid a mess.

Another plus of this arrangement is that even in very small rooms there is a lot of free space, which in any case the baby will need to play.

In a good nursery, everything is located nearby

Moreover, all furniture should be comfortable for the child. No complex designs! Pick up cabinets and bedside tables so that the doors and drawers open and close easily, and the child can easily reach the handles.

The second rule of the nursery is good lighting, bright and light color furniture and wallpaper. All children are instinctively drawn to just such colors, and there is not a single reason to prevent them. Properly selected colors have a positive effect on the mood of the child, his sense of self and attitude to life.

It also matters if you have a boy or a girl. And if before the age of 5 this is not yet critical, an older child already begins to feel like a person, acquires a certain social circle.

When there are two children in the family, many prefer bunk beds. This perfect solution, but it is important to make sure that it is comfortable and safe for children. The edges of the bed (as, indeed, of all furniture) should be rounded to prevent injury on impact. Steps should be at a height that is comfortable for the child.

Bedroom

Adults have different needs, but no matter how high status you hold and how much you work, there is always a place where you can hide from the hustle and bustle for a few hours and have a good rest.

Of course, bright disturbing colors are not welcome in the bedroom. It is also advisable not to litter this room with unnecessary items: according to psychologists, they only interfere good rest.

The dominant feature of the bedroom, you guessed it, is the bed. It is on it that you will spend about a third of your life. Therefore, if you want to always be cheerful and in good shape, the choice should be approached with all responsibility.

A comfortable bed and a minimum of items are the key to a good sleep

How to choose furniture to match the color of the interior: wallpaper, floor, doors; how to choose a shade that will be practical and not get bored in a couple of years; How color solution furniture can affect the mood - we will talk about all this and much more in our material. Tips from experienced designers will help you sort out these issues. There are an infinite number of variations of shades, and each of them can be defined with one single word: like it or not. That is why the selection of furniture must be taken with all responsibility, because it will serve you for more than one season.

Of course, first of all, you should focus on individual preferences. However, if your family is large, then you will have to go by the opposite method to please all household members. In addition, other criteria play an important role in determining the color of the future headset:

  • Practicality
  • Versatility
  • harmony
  • beauty
  • Psychological comfort

How to choose a practical furniture color

Many of us have been accustomed since childhood to the fact that dark and black clothes are much more utilitarian than light ones, they do not get dirty so much, they can be washed less often, etc. These rules do not apply to furniture. Most often, those who have purchased purely black furniture, after a couple of months, realize that it requires more careful care than, for example, beige. This is due to the fact that any small light spots and ubiquitous dust are visible against a dark background. And if in the living room or bedroom this phenomenon is infrequent, then in the kitchen you need to do light cleaning almost every day.

The most practical, oddly enough, is light-colored furniture. Not pure white, of course, but all woody tones are roughly equal in this regard, such as:

  • milk oak,
  • shimo light.

However, if small playful children and / or large pets live in the house, which are also often on the street, then it is better to opt for darker options:

  • italian walnut,
  • alder,
  • shimo dark.

For a children's room, it is better to choose furniture with bright facades and gray ends. Gray, firstly, will advantageously set off a more catchy companion, and secondly, pollution is less visible on it. Facades can be almost any deep rich colors: blue, purple, green, orange, pink. In order to facilitate the cleaning process in the future, it is better to choose laminated chipboard or MDF for making furniture. The smooth surface is easy to clean with common cleaning products and does not absorb dirt and odors.

How to choose a universal color for furniture

The interior, in which a person is forced to stay constantly, quickly gets bored. And since the costs of furniture and repairs are often very high, it is simply not possible to change everything at once: it is costly both in time and in money. In this case, you can change one thing, and this will help dramatically, if not dramatically change the situation.

That is why designers do not recommend decorating a house in bright or flashy colors, it is better to opt for neutral shades, and add variety with the help of colorful accessories. In addition, furniture made from combinations of natural wood colors can be very interesting and original.

A room decorated in brown tones will help not only to fully relax, but also to the taste of all family members. For example, against the background of beige or peach walls, bleached milk oak furniture will look light and airy, despite its size, and the space will visually increase. And if you decide to stick chocolate or coffee wallpaper, the same set will become an accent in the interior, drawing all the attention to itself. True, such a trick is better to use in spacious rooms, because. dark walls will simply “eat up” part of the area. When choosing light cabinets and walls, give preference to accessories in the following colors:

  • sky blue,
  • rich lilac,
  • dull red,
  • shades of orange.

Consider another example: dark furniture and the same walls. Such a game of monochrome, oddly enough, will not reduce the room. On the contrary, by picking up cabinets in the color of the wallpaper, you sort of equalize them with each other. However, in this case, you can’t do without bright accessories, otherwise the decor will look boring. Textiles, curtains, bedspreads, ottomans, pillows, vases, photo frames and paintings are also full members of the entire composition. In addition, they are much easier to change than, for example, a headset or a wall-slide. Deep browns are suitable for dark brown. soothing colors, such as:

  • green - from marsh to emerald,
  • red - from burgundy to "carmen",
  • blue - from dark blue to purple,
  • orange or yellow-orange.

How to create a harmonious interior with furniture

It's no secret that some pieces of furniture wear out faster than others. For example, a sliding wardrobe can last five to ten years, and a chest of drawers, the drawers of which are constantly being pulled out, will lose their presentation a little faster. In order not to completely change the situation, you can, of course, order an item of the same color. However, it happens that the manufacturer no longer produces just such a shade. In this case, resourcefulness and imagination will help.

The first way is a game of contrasts. For example, there is a wenge-colored cabinet. A chest of drawers made of two types of chipboard can be supplied with it - the same wenge and milk oak. This will not only make the interior play in a new way, but can also change it beyond recognition. Also, a chest of drawers of light wood will perfectly complement the nightstands of a dark shade. You can combine such an environment with a zebra rug, as well as textiles and sofa cushions in suitable colors.

You can also combine materials that are the same in texture but different in color, such as shimo light and shimo dark. They will shade each other and create an interesting broken space that will help hide the flaws of the room. However, this trick will not work with neutral alder, walnut and beech. If you try to arrange them in one room, then all the elements will seem bought for the occasion. Then you need to resort to the second trick.

The second way is zoning. By dividing the room into several thematic zones, you can change the furniture in only one of them. For example, the spacious living room has a storage area, a seating area and a TV area. If the cabinet and shelving are worn out more than the rest of the furniture, then you can only replace them. This option is suitable if the TV stand and the table in the soft zone are made in the same color and style. You can make them deliberately different so that the division of space is clearer, or you can bring them as close as possible so that one zone smoothly flows into another.

The third way is repair. If there are no funds to update the furniture yet, and its appearance has completely ceased to please you, then you can resort to folk methods interior renovations: painting and pasting with a film. Naturally, this is a temporary measure. Ways and tips on how to do this, you will find in our material "How to update or restore furniture with your own hands."

How to choose furniture color using psychology

From point of view modern psychologists, color can greatly affect not only the mood of a person, but also on his general state. Of course, everything needs balance, and the combination of light and dark looks very extraordinary. But there are several general rules to consider when choosing furniture.

Beige and light brown furniture is suitable if:

  • the room is initially dark, with a lack of natural light,
  • the room has a small area and you need to visually enlarge it,
  • people living in the apartment are prone to melancholy or mood swings,
  • it is supposed to use bright accessories and accents that will come to the fore,
  • you want to create a light, airy interior that will not be oppressive with dark shades.

Dark wood tones can be used in the following cases:

  • in a well-lit room with large windows,
  • you need to visually make the room a little smaller or just balance the proportions,
  • a classic interior is supposed with a hint of the aristocracy of old England,
  • a room designed for work or reading, such as an office or library,
  • I want to add textiles of calm, but deep colors that will not distract attention,
  • you value peace of mind, peace, comfort and stability in everything.

A lot has already been said about the choice of accessories, but I would like to recall the main postulates:

  • bright catchy colors excite the brain and do not allow it to rest, so scarlet, acid yellow or pink colors in the bedroom should be limited,
  • purple and blue can depress the psyche, use their softer options,
  • if you want to lose weight, decorate the dining area in cool blue or green colors,
  • try to use no more than three primary colors in one room,
  • for recreation areas it is better to choose neutral natural shades in their natural combinations: brown and foliage color, swamp green with muted burgundy, orange or purple, gray with dark blue or blue.

The choice of furniture for the interior of the apartment

Before ordering furniture, you need to clearly define what you will store in it. First, look at what things are in the house, systematize them. Think about what part of things should hang on hangers, what part should lie on shelves, how much space is needed for both. Based on your needs and choose or order furniture.

The main thing to consider when choosing furniture is to free up space in the apartment. Strictly speaking, an apartment is a place where we live, and not a warehouse for storing things. Furniture only helps you store them, so you need to make sure that they do not become more than necessary - this requires periodic selection of things. Thus, even when buying a small bedside table, think about whether you need it, given that in addition to it, there will be more furniture in the room: sofas, chairs, a table, a bed.

All small furniture (bedside tables, stools, computer table, etc.) is better to buy ready-made. Large items are preferable to order individually - it can turn out better and cheaper. In the event that you order a large piece of furniture in the workshop, it makes sense to order something small in the same place - taking into account the possible discount, this option will be more economical.

When choosing furniture, be sure to ensure that it does not interfere with opening doors. The main rule for arranging a hallway is not to force it with furniture.

Very often people forget about such trifles as the height of the shelves. If you will make a cabinet to order, then keep in mind: the optimal height for things is 20-25 cm, so that up to 5 items can be placed in a stack on one shelf, no more.

Corners should not be on corners - they should be avoided, because people usually hit such furniture.

For everyone to be comfortable, the height of the furniture should correspond to the height of all family members. In this case, children are not meant - they will grow up, but for now it is enough to place the necessary elements (for example, a clothes rail) lower, with the condition that later it would be possible to outweigh it higher.

How to choose a computer desk

Before you go shopping, you need to decide where you will put the computer, take into account its dimensions, the need to move it, what office equipment you will use when working with the computer, how much time you will spend on it, the location of the wires. In addition, it is desirable to determine colors future table so that it matches with the rest of the furniture.

Main difference computer desk from others - the presence of a pull-out shelf for the keyboard and mouse. This allows not only to save space on the table, but also to take the correct posture while working. In the manufacture of these and other sliding shelves, steel roller guides are used. Another difference between a computer desk and a regular one is the presence of a compartment or shelf for the system unit, compartments for other office equipment (printer, scanner), disks. On the table itself, there can also be a system of shelves for necessary things and a shelf for a monitor.

The size of the tabletop should be sufficient so that you can write at the table. Although there is an option when you need to save space. In this case, choose a table on which only the monitor is placed, and everything else is below. The height of the countertop from the floor should be 68-76 cm, the depth should be at least 80 cm. The correct distance from the eyes to the monitor will preserve your vision. The gaze of the person sitting at the computer should be directed from top to bottom. It is more expedient if the monitor is located directly on the countertop without additional shelves. In this case, the monitor can be easily moved aside if necessary.

So, there are several basic rules when choosing a computer desk:

The computer desk must be made of laminated material;

The depth of the countertop must be at least 80 cm;

The height of the countertop from the floor is 68-76 cm;

The edge must be processed with plastic piping;

It should be borne in mind that steel roller guides are used for sliding shelves.

Closet. How to choose?

When choosing a closet, it must be borne in mind that over the years the number of family members may increase and, accordingly, the number of things too. Therefore, if possible, it is better to make shelves and drawers with a margin.

Please note that the function of the back wall, side panels, bottom and roof of the closet can be performed by the walls of your apartment and the floor. However, there is one caveat here - the walls should not be made of drywall, since this is a rather soft material and will not withstand heavy loads.

Pay attention to the door opening mechanism. The first method, which is also the most common, is when the door is placed in a metal frame and moves along a special groove on rollers.

The second, less common, but more reliable, is when the rollers move along a monorail.

The first type of mechanism is less reliable: if the door is high, the roller may slip off the guide with a strong blow, dust or some object that has entered the groove may interfere with movement. In addition, the grooves will need to be constantly vacuumed.

The second type of mechanism is when the roller is equipped with a special device that prevents it from sliding off the rail. It is also protected from foreign objects.

Pay attention to the profiles along which the doors move. They come in two types - aluminum and steel. The aluminum system is quieter, looks more accurate, since the rollers are hidden inside (the steel rollers are located with inside doors). Accordingly, the aluminum system is more expensive. But it also has disadvantages: it is less durable than steel. If steel is almost eternal, then aluminum will serve you at most 5-7 years.

Of great importance is the material from which the wheels of the undercarriage system will be made. It is better if it is metal, but Teflon-coated plastic is also suitable. If the wheels are made of pure plastic - immediately refuse, they will not last you even a year.

It is desirable that the width of the sliding doors does not exceed 1 m. Firstly, it is inconvenient to move such a door. Secondly, it is quite heavy, the load is too high and the fittings will quickly fail.

Also, be sure to think and decide what material you would like to make cabinet doors from. Cabinets with mirrored doors well suited for the hallway - they allow you to visually increase the space. However, it should be noted that in this case the cabinet should not be located opposite front door- otherwise, according to the doctrine Feng Shui, all the luck will go out the door. In addition to mirrored, there are many other options, such as frosted and patterned glass. And if you have artistic talent, you can save a lot by making ordinary veneer doors, which you can then paint or apply photos on your own as your imagination tells you.

First and most important rule: pieces of furniture should be in harmony with each other and create a single ensemble. Today you can find various sets of furniture - headsets. Usually they are created for any one room: bedroom, kitchen, study, nursery. The advantage of headsets is that you do not need to select individual elements of the interior on your own, but you can use the ready-made design solution. How to choose the right furniture for the apartment? Decide in advance how many pieces of furniture you need for each room and how you plan to arrange them. At this stage, problems may arise that will force you to abandon the purchase of a headset and purchase pieces of furniture one by one.

Basically there are two problems:

  • it is difficult to find a headset with the right number of items, there may be more or less of them. Then you have to decide what to do with the "extra" furniture or how to find the missing items. For example, if you have to buy one chair in addition, it will most likely stand out noticeably from the entire headset ensemble;
  • one room is divided into several functional areas, for example, part of the room is reserved for the kitchen or dining room, and part is for the bedroom or living room. In this case, the room will have to be furnished with separate groups of furniture. It is not advisable to buy ready-made sets for such rooms.

How to choose the right furniture for the apartment?

An equally important factor when choosing furniture is its convenience. Pay attention to the shape of the furniture and its design features. The number of options for placing furniture in the interior depends on this. For example, very practical option- folding furniture or furniture-transformer. There are many models of furniture that turn from an armchair into a bed, from a bed into a closet, from a closet into a table with one movement of the hand. The main thing is that there is enough space in the room for such metamorphoses.

If possible, choose furniture standard sizes. It is much more practical and easier to install.

Furniture quality

Give preference to factory-made furniture. It usually differs high quality. In addition, large manufacturers provide a guarantee for their products, and before the expiration of the warranty period, the buyer, if necessary, can demand free repair, replacement or a refund for the purchase.

It is good if not metal bolts and screws are used as connecting elements, but grooves and profiles. When buying furniture made of laminate or veneered MDF and chipboard, pay attention to the thickness of the wooden boards, as well as the quality of the edges around the perimeters of the boards.

Quality upholstered furniture determined by the upholstery and filler used in its manufacture. The ideal option is upholstery made of chenille, jacquard, pile fabric and others natural materials or leather, leatherette, flock. As a filler, modern manufacturers of upholstered furniture usually use foam rubber, holofiber and other similar materials.

With the skillful choice of upholstered furniture in the house, an atmosphere of calm, confidence, warmth and comfort is created. Furniture made of expensive and high-quality raw materials emphasizes the good taste of the owner and his status. Therefore, it is chosen with great care. How to make a purchase and not make a mistake? Everything is very simple - you should pay attention to the quality of products and some other nuances, which we will consider.

General rules for choosing furniture

Before you make a purchase, you should understand that you should take this as seriously as possible. Upholstered furniture should please you for a long time, so she must be:

  • reliable;
  • comfortable;
  • beautiful.

What you should pay attention to when choosing it

When choosing upholstered furniture, you should pay attention to several criteria.

  • Upholstery. It can be any, but without fail, its color must be in harmony with the interior of your room, and the fabric or leather must be of high quality. Moreover, it is better to choose an upholstery that will be easy to care for.
  • Dimensions. Before making a purchase, be sure to sketch out a rough plan where you will place the sofa or chairs. To do this, you first need to make measurements - what dimensions should upholstered furniture have in order for it to be comfortable for you. In large halls where guests are welcomed and celebrations are held, the furniture should match the room: massive, luxurious and solid. In small rooms, such large sofas can overwhelm the entire space, so it is necessary to choose compact items and not clutter the entire space with them.

  • Quality. Good sofas and armchairs can only be purchased from trusted companies. You should not make a purchase if the products are cheap, they will probably creak, and the stitches on them will be crooked. Inexpensive products usually also smell strange.
  • Convenience. Furniture should be comfortable. When choosing a sofa and armchairs, it is recommended to give preference to models with armrests, so it will be pleasant to sit on them.
  • Frame. Quality furniture usually uses metal or wood. If wood is used, it must be well dried, otherwise, sitting on the sofa, you will notice that it emits an unpleasant creak.

  • Mechanism. Paying attention to this point, it is worth determining for yourself whether you will lay out the sofa daily or only upon the arrival of guests. It is better to take products with a mechanism made of metal. At the same time, folding and unfolding furniture should be easy and simple.
  • Delivery. In a good store there is always a service such as delivery. If it is not there, it is worth considering what quality the goods are offered in the store, if the seller did not take care of facilitating the purchase of products by the client.
  • Guarantee. A quality product is always guaranteed. It enables the buyer to return or repair the purchased products within a certain period.

How not to make a mistake with the purchase

For the correct arrangement of sofas and armchairs, a design approach is required. Therefore, when drawing up a plan, consult with an interior designer. Professional designers are able to combine a wide variety of pieces of furniture. Their work is not only in the arrangement of interior items, but also in expanding the space. Professionals do it well.

If there is no way to contact the designer, you can handle it on your own. When choosing upholstered furniture, it is better to focus on the wallpaper in the room. On a light background, a light sofa or a product looks great, the upholstery of which is a couple of tones darker. A variant is allowed when the shade of the edging and upholstery matches the color of the walls.

Pay attention to the interior of the apartment or house. IN classic interior furniture made of leather and with wooden inserts looks great. D to create modern style it is better to choose bright sofas, but in the bedroom it is still better to put products made in a restrained color.

If there is not enough space in your apartment or house, you should give preference to corner sofa and one chair. They can accommodate several people, and such a headset looks very modern. If the area allows, you can also purchase traditional sofa options, supplementing them with two armchairs.
