How to buy groceries for a month. Grocery list for the week. What to buy? The main principles of saving money when buying food

Already read: 24806 times

Young novice housewives often forget to buy milk, eggs or tea, and sometimes in their refrigerator it’s completely “rolling ball”. And this does not happen because of financial difficulties. Familiar?

It just happens that there is no time to go to the store, they forgot, it fell out of their heads, etc. And when it is necessary to make tea, cook porridge for a child or fry eggs for her husband, this is where emptiness is found in the refrigerator, and on the shelves in the kitchen sideboard.

What to do? Make a list of necessary, always necessary products and keep it in contentment regularly and no matter what. Ready to record? Then read on.

How to make a list of necessary products? And is it necessary?

As a student, I lived in a dorm room with two other girls, and making strategic supplies was a dangerous and expensive business. Students are such people, everything is in common and everything can be eaten, and it doesn’t matter that the scholarship is still far away and then you will have to eat only tea with dryers.

Those days are long gone, and for more than a decade, I've been planning and stocking my family's fridge and pantry. Mistakes were, as without them. With a small fridge and a tiny freezer, trying to stock up on prepared meats and fresh vegetables is just silly.

So, now I have a big refrigerator and pantry, and my family will never go hungry. This is because there is always something in the storerooms. And if it ends, then you need to quickly fill the voids.

Of course, people with a good income will not stock up on canned food and cereals for the future, but still this article will be useful for you.

List of products that should always be in the kitchen!

For myself and my kitchen, I made the following rules: the refrigerator should always have a minimum of necessary products.

These products are necessary for the preparation of main and second courses, cereals and soups. These are not holiday products, but a necessity. Many of them keep quite a long time, others need to be bought regularly to keep them fresh.

The list may seem too big for you, but in reality it is a drop in your kitchen and budget. With them, you will be sure that these products will help out at any moment of the day or night. Here is a list of such products:

Dairy products:

  • milk
  • kefir
  • cottage cheese
  • sour cream
  • yogurt, drinking or in cups

Vegetables and fruits:

  • potato
  • carrot
  • cabbage
  • garlic
  • beet
  • apples or bananas
  • lemon

Seasonings and sauces:

Other products:

  • eggs, a dozen should always be!
  • bread, any
  • vegetable oil, any
  • wheat flour and a little pancake
  • tea bags or loose tea, whichever you prefer
  • cocoa powder, can be with sugar
  • instant coffee, even if you do not drink it yourself, keep a small jar in case of guests
  • ground coffee
  • margarine
  • biscuits packed in small packages
  • candy, some
  • jar of condensed milk
  • canned fish, one in oil and one in tomato
  • jar of liver pate
  • stew 1 can
  • dried fruit compote

Cereals and more:

  • granulated sugar
  • buckwheat
  • cereals
  • semolina
  • peas
  • millet

Pasta:

  • horns, feathers, spaghetti - 1 kg each, for a change
  • vermicelli
  • noodles

In the freezer:

  • dumplings, good 0.5-1 kg
  • a piece of pork on the bone, for first courses (borscht, cabbage soup, soups)
  • pork or beef liver 0.5-1 kg, for second courses and gravy
  • fish, inexpensive, such as pollock
  • minced meat, I have chicken or turkey, about 1 kg
  • chicken legs 2 pcs.
  • puff pastry, no matter what, 1 pack.
  • sliced champignons 0.5 kg
  • ice cream, pack or bucket, the most budget for a child
  • butter, stored in case to add to porridge or to pasta, when it’s completely tight with finances

Spices:

  • Bay leaf
  • ground black pepper
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla sugar
  • peppercorns
  • mustard powder (for the marinade of any meat and for a child with a cold, steam the legs)

To this list sometimes I have added:

  • soy sauce in a large bottle
  • powdered sugar
  • corn grits
  • muesli or cereal flakes
  • seasonings for meat or fish
  • dry herbs and mixtures
  • lemon acid
  • canned corn, peas or beans
  • dry cream or milk
  • butter
  • juice in bags or jars
  • gingerbread, cookies or something similar

In the seasons of vegetables and fruits, add to this list:

  • cucumbers
  • tomatoes
  • peppers
  • eggplant
  • zucchini
  • cauliflower
  • radish
  • onion, dill, parsley, basil, coriander
  • pears, oranges, tangerines, strawberries, kiwi, grapes

As can be seen from the lists, they do not include cheese, sausages and sausages. These products are bought depending on the capabilities of the family and no more than a couple of times to eat.

Of course, on pre-holiday occasions, I also buy special products, such as: salmon, raw smoked sausages, bacon and carbonade, caviar, etc. But the products from the lists above are almost always present on my shelves. Of course, in times of extreme need, when you have to save on literally everything, including food, the list can be reduced. But my main list has helped me out more than once.

E If suddenly it is difficult for you to keep track of the presence from the list, then I recommend attaching a piece of paper or a small notepad to the refrigerator door, attach a pencil next to the string. And as soon as you notice that something ends, put it on a piece of paper. Go to the store with him.

The list of products for a month for each family will be different, which is related to the level of income, age, and taste preferences. So, a list of products for a month for a family of 3, where there is Small child, will include more cereals and vegetables, and in a family where children are teenagers, there is more meat in the diet.

Approximate monthly grocery list for a family of 2 (no children)

List of products to purchase once a month

1. Meat: chicken, beef. Approximately 4 kg.;

You need to try to exclude semi-finished products from the menu. To save time, you can prepare minced meat from whole meat in advance and make preparations for cutlets, chops, soup, etc.

2. Fish: frozen, fresh - 4 kg.

3. Cereals: rice, buckwheat, oatmeal, corn, wheat - 2 kg.

4. Pasta - 1 kg.

5. Vegetables: potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, beets, garlic. Frozen vegetable mixes - 9 kg (including potatoes 3 kg, carrots, cabbage 2 kg each).

6. Flour - 0.5 kg.

7. Vegetable oil - 1 bottle.

8. Sugar, sweets - 0.5 kg.

9. Salt. A pack of 1 kg is enough for several months.

10. Coffee, tea - 1 pack / jar 100g.

11. Canned vegetables (olives, green peas, corn, beans) - 1-2 jars of any product.

12. Dried fruits, nuts -300 g. (May be included in muesli).

The list of products for the purchase once a week (the monthly rate is indicated):

13. Eggs - 24 pcs. (6 per week).

14. Fruits: apples, bananas, citrus fruits - 5-7 kg, they buy 1.5 kg per week. In any combination.

15. Dairy products:

Cottage cheese - 2 kg (0.5 kg per week).

Cheese - 0.5 kg.

Kefir - 3 l.

Sour cream - 1 l.

Milk - individually: adults are not recommended to drink, but children and adolescents cannot be excluded from the menu.

Choosing dairy and dairy products Pay attention to expiration dates without buying products with suitable shelf life and with long shelf life. Products stored for a long time (milk, cottage cheese desserts) should be avoided, they may contain preservatives, or lose their value as a product during pasteurization.

16. Butter - 400 g.

Buy every few days

17. Bread. Buy daily. It is permissible to buy it with other products when purchasing for a month, storing it in the refrigerator and defrosting before use. There is no information about the harmfulness or benefits of frozen bread.

Cereals, flour, sugar are bought every 3-4 months in wholesale stores, packed in bags of 25-50 kg, provided that it is possible to properly store the products. This helps save time and money.

Sausages, mayonnaise, ketchup, alcohol, etc. are not included in the list of products, it is advisable not to consume them on an ongoing basis, if you want to pamper yourself, then everyone determines the amount individually.

In different seasons, the list of products will be different. In summer, vegetables and fruits predominate, in winter cereals are consumed more.

The list is approximate, the hostess can adjust it, knowing the addictions of her family, not forgetting about the balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

The grocery list for a family of 3 with a child will be different for a month. They add baby cereals and more dairy products, increase the amount of fruits, vegetables, juices. It is important to teach your child to eat right (but tasty!!!), focusing on fruits, juices, reducing consumption confectionery to a minimum.

The list of products for a family of 4 will depend on whether there are children in the family, what age they are, how the family is used to eating, the amount per month can be approximately calculated by multiplying the dosages of the list proposed for a family of two.

When compiling the menu, you need to remember that the state of health and, as a result, the quality of life depends on food. Low-quality fuel will quickly turn a new car into an immovable mechanism, the human body will just as quickly and radically react to the constant consumption of junk food.

Of course, we buy some of them in much larger portions, for example, we usually buy cereals for a quarter. However, for the sake of completeness, I will take exactly the expense per month.

I also want to say that the consumption is approximate and you should not assume that this is how we eat all the time. All the same, the diet varies greatly from time to year, at least. This list is more about winter or spring, so do not be surprised that you will not find an abundance of vegetables and fruits here. All the same, it’s not the season, but the shops in our area have both poor quality and exorbitant prices.

So let's get started.

Meat products.

The main demand in our family is chicken breast. Beef and pork are bought mainly for variety. When there is a quality turkey available, I also like to take it, although no one except our dad and the cat loves it. Quite often I use beef heart and very rarely liver. It's probably because I'm the only one who eats it.

Chicken 4 kg - 250r/kg = 1000r

Pork/beef 1kg - 380r/kg = 380r

Offal 2kg - 200r / kg = 400r

Fish and more.

I try to take mainly local fish, so it turns out to save quite a lot. Inexpensive sea fish comes to the background, we buy red fish mainly for the holidays for salting. I also often take squid fillet, because we have it at a very humane price and goes well in salads.

Vendace, Belomorka, etc. 3 kg - 80r / kg = 240r

Mackerel, cod, etc. 1.5kg - 200r/kg = 300r>

Squid 1kg - 100r/kg = 100r

Dairy products and eggs.

Our family consumes just a huge amount of eggs. This is due to the fact that they are great just boiled, and I take a lot of them for baking, casseroles, etc.

About milk and related products. There is a very wide range of options, therefore I will simply indicate in liters of all this goodness, especially since the price is approximately the same for milk and kefir. We eat little cheese, no one is particularly fond of sandwiches, and instead of soft cheese, I often tend to local cottage cheese. We also run out of oil. It only goes into porridge, because I have vegetable-based pastries, unless of course it's a traditional shortcrust pastry.

Milk / sour milk 1.5l / day - 100r = 4500r

Eggs 1kl / week - 200r = 800r

Cottage cheese 2kg - 250r/kg = 500r

Other = 1000r

Another huge expense, since this includes products with a long shelf life and you can use this when buying for future use. First of all, we use a lot of flour and sugar, this is due to the fact that we do not buy bread and various kinds of cookies. Well, if only occasionally, when I'm too lazy or have no time to bake. For the same reason, a lot of vegetable oil. I have not used margarine for baking for a long time, and butter in pure form It turns out expensive, and a lot of cholesterol.

Wheat flour 8kg - 30r/kg = 240r

Rye flour 5kg - 25r/kg = 125r

Sugar 6kg - 45r = 270r

Vegetable oil 4l - 70r/l = 280r

Buckwheat 2.5kg - 70r/kg = 175r

Rice 2kg - 55r/kg = 110r

Semolina 1kg - 40r/kg = 40r

Cell 0.5kg - 30r / kg = 15r

Oatmeal 1.5kg - 20r/kg = 30r

6 cereal flakes 1kg - 40r/kg = 40r

Wheat 0.5kg - 30r/kg = 15r

Barley 0.5kg - 30r / kg = 15r

Peas or beans 0.5kg - 90r/kg = 45r

Chickpeas 0.5kg - 80r/kg = 40r

Macaroni 2kg - 50r/kg = 100r

Conservation.

We hardly ever use this section. Therefore, we buy little and it is mainly canned vegetables. Sometimes condensed milk. We do not use canned fish, stew, etc. We don’t eat jam on a regular basis, there are enough nice gifts from grandmothers. From them we get pickles, which I add to pickle or vinaigrette.

Condensed milk 2b - 70r/b = 140r

Green peas or olives 2b - 50r - 100r

Tomato paste 0.25kg - 100r = 100r

Frozen food.

I try to stock up on frozen vegetables and berries for the winter. And the fact that there is not enough space to freeze, then dry. However, products such as broccoli or green beans still have to be bought. Therefore, I take freezing all the time, but I can’t say what exactly, it’s still a matter of taste. In a month I spend about 500 to 1000 rubles on this.

Vegetables and fruits.

With fruit, the same story as with freezing. I take the best offer. However, in winter period cheaper than 100r per kg to find something is almost impossible. In vegetables, I prefer to take simple products: cabbage, carrots, beets. The rest as far as possible or on holidays. My family does not like salad greens, it is replaced by Chinese cabbage. I use frozen parsley and dill. As a result, this item of expenditure takes from 1000 to 3000 rubles.

Tea, coffee, spices, sauces and other pranks.

All these products are not bought from us all the time. I often try new teas. And we drink coffee in different and different ways. I also buy sauces often, but they are used for a long time. To clarify, we do not use mayonnaise or ketchup, by sauces I mean soy or teriyaki or mustard and the like. Spices are also very varied in price and frequency with which I use them. In the same department I can refer different types vinegar or soda. How much I spend on all the add-ons, I can’t calculate at all.

It is also worth considering that here I take into account prices for large volumes. For example, this is true for cereals, if you buy in packages of 500g, in a simple store, it will be more expensive. We buy local milk, fish, and many other products. And harvesting vegetables, fruits and berries in the summer is of great importance. If I didn’t have dried apples or frozen sweet peppers, then this would hit the budget significantly.

Here is such a wonderful tsiferka I have, but how about you?

Food is an important expense family budget and a kind of test for the hostess how economical and skillful she is. After all, in order to save on food and at the same time feed the family fully, you see, you need skill.

We already know how eat sparingly. I have blogged about this many times before. You need to make a menu for the week, control the leftover food in the refrigerator, stock up for the winter.

We make the biggest and unnecessary waste during spontaneous visits to shops, markets and supermarkets. To avoid them, you need to follow certain rules.

Two rules of economical housewives

1. The rule of buying food - we buy what we need, and not what they want to sell us.

  • We make a list of products and buy strictly according to the list
  • We monitor nearby supermarkets on the Internet for ongoing promotions on products of interest to us
  • We don’t fall for all sorts of “lure”, such as “buy two for the price of three and get the third for free”
  • We go for groceries, having thoroughly refreshed ourselves at home
  • We choose slowly, compare prices and check the expiration date
  • We make basic purchases once a week, according to the menu, and in the middle of the week we buy only bread and dairy products.
  • We do not buy semi-finished products.

2. To eat sparingly, you need to cook on your own, making up the menu.

Since spending money on food is directly proportional to the number of visits to supermarkets and markets, we can reduce it to a minimum.

To do this, we will choose the time (preferably right after the salary), draw up a menu for a month and once purchase all the main products.

Menu for the month

This, of course, is not a very easy job. Need to:

  1. Consider a variety of dishes and calculate how many products you need.
  2. Make a grocery list and make purchases
  3. Make your own semi-finished products
  4. Divide into portions and freeze, what is to be frozen.

Calculation of the number of dishes per month

Let's count:

One week is 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 7 dinners.

So, in a month we get 28 breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Ideally, breakfast consists of salad, main course and drink, lunch - salad, main course, second course and drink, and dinner - salad, main course and drink.

In addition, we usually prepare desserts or sweet pastries for tea, coffee,

If you cook a fresh dish every time, then you need to cook a month - ATTENTION YOU-MEN ... 🙂 - 84 salads, 84 main courses and 28 first courses !!!

But don't be afraid. Everyone knows that in practice this is not the case, each family has its own preferences. For some, a hearty breakfast is important, and someone has breakfast after drinking coffee with a sandwich. Many families dine together only on weekends. Therefore, one way or another, your own menu for the month should correspond to your habits and preferences.

Besides:

-First course we prepare for two or three days. We get 28:3 = 9-10 (first courses), and if no one dine at home during the week, even less (only four on weekends)

-Second course, if it is “solid”, for example, such as pilaf, stuffed cabbage, roast or dishes that require side dishes (cutlets, chops, meatballs) - we also cook for 2-3 days. Therefore, 84:2 = 42 (second courses). Again, with dinner at home (without dinner less by 5 * 4 = 20 dishes, 42-20 = 22)

- Side dishes: if it is porridge, cook for two days.

-Salads: With them, a slightly different situation - lettuce salad strife. "Olivier", "Tasty", salads with chicken or meat do not lose their taste qualities within 24 hours, that is, if you prepared such a salad in the evening, then the next day in the morning or evening it is still very edible. These are full-fledged "two in one" dishes and a salad and a second.

Simple or seasonal salads (cucumbers and tomatoes in summer, radishes in spring, radishes, beets, cabbage and sauerkraut - all year round), are prepared quickly and do not require special tricks. They must always be fresh.

-Baking A: If there are children in the family, this is indispensable. First, children need snacks for school, and it is much better to give your child yogurt and a muffin or a pie prepared by you personally than to risk his stomach by buying the same thing in the store.

It was a prelude to the main work. Thinking in this way, we take in hand list of cheap meals(if there is none, make up, I insist - it will make your life much easier), select the appropriate ones and write out those that we will prepare.

Before compiling the menu, check all your "bins" in the refrigerator (freezer), lockers, pantry. Control your "strategic reserves" use what you have and do not buy too much.

Prepare semi-finished products

If we buy products for a month, some of them need to be quickly processed into semi-finished products. It is the cooked and frozen semi-finished products that will allow you to no longer spend money on food next month and will reduce the time for cooking.

If you want to save money and eat meat, you need to use it sparingly. From the same piece of meat, you can fry chops and eat at a time, or you can grind it into minced meat, cook cutlets, cabbage rolls or stick dumplings.

Very profitable home liver. It is easy to prepare, inexpensive and, as needed, you can use it for pies, pancakes, dumplings or naval pasta.

Therefore, if you want to save money by listening to my tips and your own “voice of reason”, include dishes using minced meat or liver in the menu for a month.

You can also make preparations of broths for first courses. Boil chicken or meat (we boil meat for broths for two weeks, and freeze fresh for another 2 weeks). Cook rich broths, in a large saucepan 5-6 liters, and ready - divide into 5 servings and freeze. As needed, take one serving, defrost and add the required amount of water. Do the same with the next portion of the blanks for the first courses, when these run out.

Use meat cooked in broth for salads, casseroles or, like liver, for stuffing dumplings, pies, pancakes.

The semi-finished products prepared by you are also good because if they are not used, they will be perfectly preserved until the next month (the main thing is not to forget about them)

We choose, write it down on a tablet, and next we note what will need to be bought.

Dishes for the menu for the month and their composition

First meal

Main dishesSalads, desserts, pastries

If you, following my example, filled out such a table, then it will not be difficult to calculate the number of products and write a list with which you will go for groceries. You can buy everything at once, except for dairy, bread and some vegetables and fruits.

And you can shop once a week or every two weeks.

Be sure to check what you have available at home. For example, you have prepared jam, pickles, greens and stocked up for the winter, and buckwheat semolina and cocoa, bought recently and for the planned number of dishes, there are enough of them. We will not include them in our list. And so on for all positions.

Our task is to optimize the cost of food. Now, thanks to the fact that we have compiled a menu for a month with complete list products is easy. If the amount received is too big, we change one or more dishes to more economical ones.

Well, then - for shopping and, at our discretion: we buy everything at once, leaving a small amount for the purchase of bread, dairy products and fruits, or we write a menu for a week and buy products for a week plus, in part, for semi-finished products.

In any case, you will win - either money for food is set aside, or groceries are purchased for a month. And there will be no question that some negligent housewives ask, “The money is over, what to cook to eat?”

A compiled menu and grocery shopping for a week or a month will protect you from such problems and help you save on food. Saving is easy!

It's probably because I'm the only one who eats it.

Chicken 4 kg – 250r/kg = 1000r

Pork / beef 1kg - 380r / kg = 380r

Offal 2kg - 200r / kg = 400r

Fish and more.

I try to take mainly local fish, so it turns out to save quite a lot. Inexpensive sea fish comes to the background, we buy red fish mainly for the holidays for salting. I also often take squid fillet, because we have it at a very humane price and goes well in salads.

Vendace, Belomorka, etc. 3 kg - 80 rub / kg = 240 rub

Mackerel, cod, etc. 1.5kg - 200r / kg = 300r>

Squid 1kg – 100r/kg = 100r

Cottage cheese 2kg – 250r/kg = 500r

Other = 1000r

For the same reason, a lot of vegetable oil is spent. I have not used margarine for baking for a long time, and pure butter is both expensive and very high in cholesterol.

Wheat flour 8kg - 30r / kg = 240r

Rye flour 5kg - 25r / kg = 125r

Sugar 6kg - 45r = 270r

Vegetable oil 4l - 70r / l = 280r

Buckwheat 2.5kg - 70r / kg = 175r

Rice 2kg – 55r/kg = 110r

Semolina 1kg - 40r / kg = 40r

Cell 0.5kg - 30r / kg = 15r

Oatmeal 1.5kg - 20r / kg = 30r

6 cereals flakes 1kg - 40r / kg = 40r

Wheat 0.5kg - 30r / kg = 15r

Barley 0.5kg - 30r / kg = 15r

Peas or beans 0.5kg - 90r / kg = 45r

Chickpeas 0.5kg – 80r/kg = 40r

Macaroni 2kg – 50r/kg = 100r

Conservation.

We hardly ever use this section. Therefore, we buy little and it is mainly canned vegetables. Sometimes condensed milk. We do not use canned fish, stew, etc. We don’t eat jam on a regular basis, there are enough nice gifts from grandmothers. From them we get pickles, which I add to pickle or vinaigrette.

Condensed milk 2b - 70r / b = 140r

However, in winter it is almost impossible to find something cheaper than 100 rubles per kg.

In the same department, I can include different types of vinegar or soda.

Food is an important item in the family budget and a kind of test for the hostess how economical and skillful she is. After all, in order to save on food and at the same time feed the family fully, you see, you need skill.

We already know how.

Ideally, breakfast consists of salad, second course and drink, lunch consists of salad, first course, second course and drink, and dinner consists of salad, second course and drink.

-Salads: With them, the situation is slightly different - lettuce is different. "Olivier", "Tasty", salads with chicken or meat do not lose their taste within 24 hours, that is, if you prepared such a salad in the evening, then the next day in the morning or evening it is still very edible. These are full-fledged "two in one" dishes and a salad and a second.

Salads are simple or seasonal (cucumbers and tomatoes in summer, radishes in spring, radishes, beets, cabbage and sauerkraut all year round), they are prepared quickly and do not require special tricks.

Very profitable homemade.

First meal

Main courses
Salads, desserts, pastries

If you, following my example, filled out such a table, then it will not be difficult to calculate the number of products and write a list with which you will go for groceries. You can buy everything at once, except for dairy, bread and some vegetables and fruits.

And you can shop once a week or every two weeks.

Be sure to check what you have available at home. For example, you have prepared jam, pickles, greens and stocked up for the winter, and buckwheat semolina and cocoa, bought recently and for the planned number of dishes, there are enough of them. We will not include them in our list. And so on for all positions.

Our task is to optimize the cost of food. Now, thanks to the fact that we have compiled a menu for a month with a complete list of products, this is easy. If the amount received is too big, we change one or more dishes to more economical ones.

Well, then - shopping and, at our discretion: we buy everything at once, leaving a small amount for the purchase of bread, dairy products and fruits, or we write a menu for a week and buy products for a week plus, in part, for semi-finished products.

In any case, you will win - either money for food is set aside, or groceries are purchased for a month. And there will be no question that some negligent housewives ask

A compiled menu and grocery shopping for a week or a month will protect you from such problems and help you save on food.
