The most important and unique information about a person is given by the aspects of the planets in his horoscope, as well as the position of the planets in astrological houses. Everything else is more general information, but sometimes it is also important for a full-fledged portrait, as well as for comparing the horoscopes of two people.

There are many known divisions of the planets within the cosmogram. They are grouped:

  • by - to get a general psychological portrait of a person,
  • by the salience of the masculine and feminine principles - in order to understand the level of his activity,
  • by hemispheres - to determine the type of personality,
  • by the elements - to determine his temperament,
  • by squares - to determine its maturity,
  • crosses - to understand his strategy,
  • by zones - to understand the priorities of its development,
  • home - to show what areas of life are important to him.

The principle of division is simple: having calculated the position of each planet at the time of birth and placing their symbolic designations on the cosmogram, we use a point system (see) to calculate the selection of areas of interest to us. That closed area, which contains a larger amount of points, is predominant in its class.

For example, if you look at the constellations in which the planets of your horoscope are located, you can conclude which signs of the Zodiac are most pronounced in you. For this, only minor (fast) planets are considered: the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars.

How do most people define their zodiac sign?

They look at the constellation in which the Sun was at birth, while forgetting about other planets in the horoscope. "This is not true" - he says, and I completely agree with him.

The sun, of course, is the main exponent of human individuality, but at the same time it has different characteristics in different signs, which does not exclude the possibility for it to be weakly expressed. Therefore, you should not think that the position of the Sun is more important than other planets. After all, the Moon, and Mercury, and Venus, and Mars are unique in their kind, because. reflect other aspects of our personality (emotions, intellect, feelings, physical abilities). If in the horoscope one of these planets is in a strong position, then it may well overshadow the Sun with its influence on a person. This explains why in one area of life we behave proactively, and in another infantile.

Consider an example:

Sun (consciousness) in Aries (leadership)
Moon (subconscious) in Virgo (analyticity)
Mercury (communication, thinking, work) in Taurus (practicality)
Venus (love) in Taurus (settlement)
Mars (initiative, sex) in Gemini (activity)

If we evaluate such a natal chart only by the position of the Sun in the sign of Aries, then we can say that the owner of the horoscope is a very hot person, an optimist, a warrior, a pioneer with a pronounced ego, sharp in communication, assertive in love, passionate in sex.

However, as described above, the Sun does not cover all personal areas, but only reflects character traits. Therefore, for example, the communicative qualities of a person can only be judged by analyzing the position of Mercury in the Zodiac, and he is not at all in Aries.

  • In this case, Mercury in Taurus endows a person with industriousness and perseverance in work, practical thinking, culture in communication (which does not correspond to Aries at all).
  • Venus in Taurus makes a person domestic, striving more for a pleasant life, and not for careerism. In relations with the opposite sex, he is not at all assertive, but rather accommodating.
  • Mars in Gemini makes you achieve your goals not by pressure (as Aries would do), but by obtaining versatile knowledge, making contacts. In sex, the main thing for him is not passion, but variety.

So the result is a very “diluted” Aries (Taurus, Gemini and Virgo are fighting for superiority), but the image is more truthful.

If it is so important for you to determine the most pronounced zodiac sign in your horoscope, you can highlight the constellation in which the largest number of planets are collected (regardless of where the Sun is located).

There are cases when there are two pronounced signs in the horoscope; then we can talk about a combination of two different systems of qualities.

It also happens (albeit very rarely) when all the main planets are collected in one sign (for example, horoscope).

Analysis of planets in signs

For revealing human psychology, the date, month, year, time of birth of a person (not necessarily exact) is sufficient. This is quite enough to understand human psychology. In this case, 120 characteristics are obtained that answer the questions of human psychosynthesis. These are planets - 10 (ten planets), signs of the Zodiac - 12 (twelve), and many aspects.

Sign is always the habitat of the planet. The planets pass around the Earth and look alternately into the signs of the Zodiac (as if through windows). These windows are of different colors (palette, shades) - different quality, different energy (peculiar to the nature of the element).

In astrology, all the planets always move forward, or stop (stationary), or go backward (retrograde planets) except the Sun and the Moon - but the Zodiac always stands still. The planet is the center of the human psyche and its motivations. The entire environment of the sign will be activated by the planet passing through it. Planets in a sign determines the decisive role of the sign, changes its characteristics - brings changes to the sign. If the planet were completely colored by the quality of the sign, and did not influence it itself, this would lead to the depersonalization of the planet itself. It should also be taken into account that the moral and spiritual qualities of the individual are largely independent of the positions and aspects of the planets.

Rules: basic laws of synthesis.

1. The similar qualities of the planet are enhanced by the similar qualities of the sign.

2. If the properties of the sign are opposite to the qualities of the planets, they are modified or neutralized (mutual destruction is possible).

The environment of the sign will be activated by the planet, i.e. the qualities of the sign will change. In the signs of fall and damage, the luminaries are weakened and therefore, along with positive properties, they will also show negative traits. The all-encompassing sign strong planets show strength, and the weak show negativity.

So, the position of the planet in the sign endows it with certain qualities, figuratively speaking, colors its action.

In a harmonious aspect and signs of control and exaltation, the character of the subject manifests predominantly positive properties of the luminary from the point of view of psychology. But even with damaging aspects, not only negative traits can appear, but also positive ones.

At the same time, negative characteristics depend to a large extent on which luminary damages a given planet: good, neutral or evil. The negative characteristics of a damaged luminary can be associated either with its excessive functions, its excessive manifestation, or with a lack of its energy. In particular, aggressive manifestations, as a rule, are associated with an excess of energy and function of the luminary, and such qualities as idleness, weakness and laziness - with a lack of its energy and function.

Harmonious aspects represent the golden mean:there is no excess, there is no lack, everything in moderation, exactly as much as you need.

The nature of the planets:

  • Giving energy - the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, Uranus;
  • Take away energy - the Moon, Venus, Saturn, Neptune;
  • Neutral energy - Mercury.

Planetary energy:

  • Good - Jupiter, Sun, Venus;
  • Evil - Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Neptune, Uranus;
  • Neutral - Mercury, Moon.

> Planets in the natal chart

Location planets in the natal chart influences the formation of a person's character, his inclinations, temperament and personality traits. Planets affect not only the physical, but also the emotional and intellectual plane. By certain signs they can be divided into groups.

The word planet is of Greek origin. It means "wandering" in translation. Since ancient times, people observing celestial objects have paid attention to some of them. These were stars that changed their position in relation to the fixed constellations, moving from one to another along a bizarre trajectory.

At first, 7 such planets were discovered, and their number also included the Sun and the Moon. These were Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Later, the list was replenished with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, located beyond Saturn. The 10 listed planets are the main tools in the work of astrologers. In addition to them, some asteroids, 2 points of the lunar orbit and fictitious points like the North and South Nodes of the Moon, where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic, are taken into account in the compilation of the horoscope. The North Node is called the Dragon's Head and the South Node is the Dragon's Tail. Lunar points include the Black Moon or Lilith, and Selene, the White Moon. Asteroids, whose location is taken into account by astrologers: Chiron, located between the orbits of Uranus and Saturn, Ceres, Vesta, Pandora, Icarus, Juno, Hidalgo, Sappho and Eros, Hidalgo and Pallas.

Classification of planets depending on their movement

If you carefully follow the movements of the planets from the Earth, you will notice how the movement of some of them gradually slows down, then the planets stop and begin to reverse movement. The reason for this phenomenon is that the planets move around the sun at different speeds. The direction of movement of the planet is of great importance, since with this or that movement its properties manifest themselves in different ways.

As it moves forward through the constellation, the planet exerts its usual outward influence. Moving in the right direction through the signs of the Zodiac, it manifests its natural properties and everything that it affects develops normally. Direct traffic has not received any designation in the maps.

If from the Earth it seems that the planet is moving in the opposite direction to the natural, there is a retrograde planet. It is symbolized by the letter "R". Indicates a turn inward, introversion, immersion in the depths of the subconscious.

* Click on the image to learn more about a particular retrograde planet.

Changing direction, the planet remains in place for some time, that is, it remains in a stationary state. This is the moment of free choice of the direction and nature of the development of the planet. Stationarity has its own designation in the map - "S".

The meaning of each planet in the birth chart

The luminaries have the greatest influence on fate: the Sun and the Moon. Their position in the natal chart affects the basic personality traits. Features of personal development, such as information processing, inclinations and dislikes, determine personal planets - these are Mars, Mercury and Venus.

The social planets include Saturn and Jupiter. They determine the place of a person in the world around him and his attitude towards people. Lunar Nodes have similar qualities, which, along with the planets, have a significant impact on the horoscope.

The higher planets, or rather Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, have a more global influence, affecting large-scale historical and mental transformations affecting different generations of people.

Let's analyze each planet in more detail:

planets Word
Sun Survival ability, self-awareness, inner self.
Moon Femininity, hidden feelings, emotional states.
Mercury Perception and processing of information, ingenuity.
Venus Beauty, love, dreaminess.
Mars Inflexibility, strength, expansion.
Jupiter Evolution, luck, universal intelligence.
Saturn Orderliness, a solid foundation, setting boundaries.
Uranus Innovation, destructiveness, unpredictability, talent.
Neptune Talent, illusory, inspiration.
Pluto Mysticism, recreation, transformations.
North Lunar Node A point that helps to leave false ideas brought from previous lives and guides spiritual development.
South Lunar Node Getting rid of stereotypical, outdated forms of behavior that impede growth.
Point of Fortune Luck, luck.

I have highlighted in blue the quotes that are worth paying special attention to.

The role of the planets in astrology

So, the basis of astrology is the principle of similarity. What is above is like what is below. Different projections of the Absolute are similar to each other. The events unfolding in the Cosmos help us better understand ourselves.

And what do we notice first of all when we pay attention to the Cosmos surrounding us? Of course, the Sun and the Moon. There is nothing to say here. What else? Stars. There are so many of them and, in the opinion of most of our enlightened contemporaries, they are so the same ... But our dark ancestors understood the stars better and noticed that their bulk moves in the same way, as if “in line”, making revolutions around the earthly observer over and over again , but some outstanding stars have their own will and move as they please, relative to the general star background. These are the planets. At first glance, they are free, like gods, and it is no coincidence that they were given the names of gods.

In astrological terminology, the Sun and the Moon are also called planets, although their role has always been special: they are still luminaries. In total, seven traditional planets are obtained - the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. These planets are called traditional because they have been used in astrological practice since ancient times.

With the invention of the telescope, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto joined this company. Then planetoids, asteroids and all other exotic things were used.

Some astrologers believe that the more different factors they use in their work, the more information they will receive. However, those areas of astrology that are known for their high efficiency in solving everyday human problems - namely, Indian and European medieval astrology - use only seven traditional planets. After all, the point is not in the amount of information, but in the ability to comprehend, interpret, and benefit from it.

I will use ten planets: the traditional seven (the so-called septener) and the three higher ones - Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.<…>

Now all the same about the role of planets in astrology. They are definitely the main characters, since the entire interpretation of the horoscope is built around the planets. It should be borne in mind that the astrological planets are not at all the same as the planets of the solar system. Astrological planets are some higher principles that are reflected differently in different projections of the Macrocosm. For example, the astrological Sun is represented in nature by metallic gold, in the state - by the highest ruler, and in the solar system - by the astronomical Sun, our luminary. It has an immense number of other projections in all conceivable and inconceivable microcosms. If we philosophize a little and imagine the world as a reflection of some unknowable Absolute, then the astrological planets are the attributes of the Absolute, roughly speaking, its arms and legs, and therefore are just as vast and unknowable as the Absolute.

However, these are all high matters, and we came to astrology to practice. How, on a practical level, to explain to a student of astrology what, say, the astrological Sun is and how to interpret it in working with a horoscope? To state all the possible manifestations of the Sun is unrealistic. But you can give a lot different values so that a person can form for himself some abstract principle that is reflected in them. This is the approach that Biruni follows in his book - he gives multi-page lists of correspondences for different planets. Nowadays, this approach is usually represented by lists of keywords. I will also present you with entire tables with keywords for the planets, developed by me several years ago under the guidance of Avgustina Filippovna Semenko (Augustina Semenko - a famous Russian astrologer; Alexander Kolesnikov - the author of this lecture on the planets - her student, approx. E.L.).

Another approach is to try to verbalize the basic idea behind the planetary principle and illustrate it with two or three examples. Of course, this idea will express the vast essence of the planet in a very limited way, but it is usually sufficient to plant a seed of understanding in the student's mind. And then, in practice, he will grow and develop his own creative understanding of the principles of the planets. This method can be called the method of storytelling, as opposed to the method of keywords alone.

I understand that to a rational person all this sounds completely unscientific. However, because astrology was often called Art, because the method of "stick and rope", native and beloved for modern materialistic science, is of little use in it. Successful work requires a depth of understanding and practical experience.

I will try to tell you my understanding of the planets by the method of a story, and then give multifaceted tables of keywords - just in case.

planet classification

Planets can be divided into several groups: luminaries, personal planets, social planets and higher planets.

The luminaries - the Sun and the Moon - play an important role in the study of the horoscope, they give a general, global description of a person and his life.

Personal planets characterize Firstly personality traits: perception of information, likes and dislikes, etc. Of course, they also contribute to, say, a person's social orientation, but they play a primary role precisely as representatives of the individual.

The social orientation of a person, his attitude to society as a whole and to its various layers in particular, is reflected primarily by the social planets - Jupiter and Saturn. Close in meaning (and in terms of speed of movement) to these planets are the Lunar nodes, which, although they are not planets, are among the most important factors in the horoscope.

The higher planets - Uranus, Neptune and Pluto - should be treated differently in astrology. After all, it is not for nothing that they were discovered much later than the traditional Septener planets. The higher planets show something beyond the limits of ordinary human life. These are either very large-scale processes of a national scale, which ordinary people cannot influence, or deep mental phenomena, which, as a rule, are also beyond the control of ordinary consciousness.

Sun

At the level of lofty-theoretical, the Sun, this spiritual, physical and energy center of our local cosmos, is compared with the Divine principle in man, with the Spark of God or, in the language of the occultists, a monad. In fact, there must be something very powerful, capable of organizing inert dead matter by its influence, breathing life into it, giving reason and the ability to create.

On another level, the Sun symbolizes the source of creativity in man. People in whom the principle of the Sun is manifested most prominently do not want to lead a routine existence. They want to be creators like God in the area of life that fascinates them the most, arrange everything according to their own understanding, be themselves, and not imitate others. On the contrary, the surrounding people strive to follow them, since the representatives of the Sun spread some creative radiation around themselves, infecting others with their interest in creation.

The sun is undoubtedly the most visible of the celestial objects, and therefore often symbolizes in the horoscope bright, outstanding people who are able to have a great influence on others. In the state, it, as already mentioned, represents the main ruler or the ruling elite. In many cases, the Sun symbolizes the father in the horoscope, and in the horoscope of the woman - and the husband, sometimes - just mature men who know their worth, one way or another participating in the life of the owner of the horoscope.

Trying to concentrate what has been said, we can conclude that the Sun personifies the central position, brightness, visibility, high energy level.

<…>In character, the Sun manifests itself as a great self-confidence and a pronounced creativity. Such a person is self-sufficient, he has his own opinion about everything, and if he listens to the opinion of other people, then, mainly, out of politeness. He allows others to revolve around him, as the planets revolve around the sun. And people are drawn to a sunny person, because he helps them see the meaning in life, gives them a point of support. He is a born organizer, but not due to the fact that he builds everyone in one line and distributes tasks. It’s just that he somehow finds himself at the center of any business, and everything around him develops harmoniously and naturally.

The creative principle manifests itself in the fact that a sunny person always and everywhere prefers to act at his own discretion - in the way that seems appropriate to him. He does not accept any dictate, he strives to leave an imprint of his individuality on everything. He is an individualist in the best sense of the word, because he sets an example for others what a person can achieve if he respects himself and believes in himself.

<…>Now keywords.<…>The words in the table are divided into "planes of being" and "areas of life". The higher plane is the level of abstract principles, the lower plane is the level of inanimate matter. And “areas of life” is the scale of consideration, from an individual to nature as a whole.

Of course, the keywords I have suggested can be changed, supplemented, and generally do with them anything you like, if you feel that your understanding of the planet does not match mine.

Moon

In the esoteric sense, the Moon symbolizes the material shell that the Monad receives when it incarnates on Earth. The Moon is responsible for the subconscious (and the Sun corresponds to consciousness), for reflexes and automatically operating systems of the body, which are the vast majority. The activity of the Moon is everyday and ordinary, therefore it is usually invisible, but vital.

In the state, the Moon symbolizes the people who feed and water the sovereign, in society it is the mass, the crowd, which, no matter how you call it to high achievements, always thinks first of all about food, clothing and satisfaction of the simplest physiological needs. In the family, the Moon is associated with the mother, wife, and in general it is directly related to the concept of the family, as the most important environment for human existence and as a means of biological procreation. Problems associated with the Moon in a woman's horoscope can affect her ability to conceive, bear and give birth to a child. By the situation in which the Moon is located, one can quite accurately determine how a person perceives his own mother, as well as how he relates to his children.

In the character of a person, the Moon corresponds to thriftiness, the ability to do a large number of various necessary things without hesitation, out of habit. A housewife wife is the most vivid manifestation of the lunar principle: she does laundry, irons, goes shopping, cleans, cooks all day long ... A husband, coming home from work, does not notice how much work has been done - everything is as usual, everything is fine.

Mercury

In mythology, Mercury plays the role of a messenger or herald of the gods, and his significance in astrology is largely a reflection of this role.

In our information-saturated age, one of the main functions of Mercury is the perception, processing and transmission of information. Depending on his position in the horoscope, one can judge whether a person grasps information on the fly or he needs considerable time to assimilate it, whether he is quick-witted or slow-witted, how successfully the owner of the horoscope can convey his thoughts to other people.

Mercury is closely related to human thinking and shows what its features are: whether it is figurative or analytical, whether a person prefers to deal with numbers, facts or general ideas and vague concepts.

Speech is also a function of Mercury. In one position in the horoscope, he can give eloquence, in another - speech defects.

But Mercury is not only about information. He is responsible for the transport and transmission of matter and energy - for example, for the delivery of goods, and therefore transport and trade are under his patronage.

Active Mercury gives a person flexibility, mobility, dexterity, cunning, the ability to navigate well in the world around him, adaptability, interest in what is happening around. Depending on the position in the horoscope, he either shows his material side - dexterity, commercial abilities, the ability to bargain and find workarounds, or is most noticeable in the intellectual, theoretical field.

In those cases when Mercury is manifested in the appearance of a person, we see the type of "eternal student" who retains a youthful appearance until old age.

Venus

It is hardly worth reminding that in mythology Venus is the goddess of love. But some astronomical information about Venus is quite worthy of your attention. Even if you collect all the stars in the sky in one place, they will not be able to surpass the brightness of Venus in full splendor. It is second only to the Sun and the Moon, on a moonless night it is capable of casting shadows, therefore it can rightly be considered the third most noticeable object in the starry sky.

If we recall the principle "as above, as below" - the guiding principle of the astrologer - then it must be recognized that we may underestimate the importance of Venus in the horoscope, putting it on a par with other personal planets. Since it is so noticeable, it should be no less important.

In astrology, Venus is naturally associated with love, beauty, the ability to establish mutual understanding with other people at the level of feelings, but also with values (and a person’s attitude towards them), in particular, money. The position of Venus in the horoscope makes it possible to judge what and who a person likes, what he or she is waiting for in love, how developed sensuality is, whether a person knows how and strives to be attractive, what he considers beautiful.

A true representative of Venus seeks to resolve all issues with the help of compromises, knows how to relax and rest, and knows how to please another person. He or she strives to look attractive, and for this they use all sorts of additional means - jewelry, cosmetics, especially fashionable clothes, pay great attention to the hairstyle.

In nature, Venus is most associated with the vegetable kingdom, and I have noticed that people with a strong Venus are very good at caring for plants. They don't seem to be doing anything special, and their plants are doing great. And vice versa, those who have Venus is problematic, no matter how they take care of the plants, they only dry and die.

Mars

Mars is primarily associated with the purposeful expenditure of energy. He also personifies the passionate, instinctive principle in man, which makes him related to animals.

In the human character, Mars manifests itself as activity, independence, initiative, vigor, passion, courage. A person does not go with the flow, but achieves his goal by actively intervening in events. If the Martian qualities are expressed excessively, then we can talk about rudeness, intemperance, aggressiveness, viciousness.

Since the main "consumer of energy" in human life is work, Mars and the peculiarities of its position in the horoscope often help to understand what kind of work a person is inclined to, how stable his energy potential is. Mars is also very important when studying the horoscopes of athletes.

Personifying the male principle in nature, Mars helps to understand by its position in the horoscope of a woman what type of man is ideal for her. At the same time, in the male horoscope, the features of the position of Mars will tell how pronounced a person's purely masculine qualities are.

In nature, Mars is associated with heat, fire, high temperature, and in the body it is characterized by similar conditions: burns, inflammation, suppuration, feverish conditions. In other words, the fighting that the body conducts against an external infection. Mars is associated with sharp, cutting instruments, and in relation to health, with wounds, bleeding and surgical interventions.

The connection of Mars with relations between the sexes, with the extension of the genus, is obvious, and here it closely interacts with Venus. While Venus symbolizes the attraction between people, Mars is an active impulse that encourages action and win over a loved one. The harmonious interaction between Mars and Venus in the horoscopes of partners is a very great help for a successful life together.

Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest of the planets in the solar system. From it begins a group of planets that are very different from the already known Mercury, Venus and Mars, as well as from the Earth. Take at least the distance from the Sun. Jupiter is located 3.5 times farther from the central star than Mars, and between these two planets there is a huge empty space in which only asteroids move.

Further, the substance of which Jupiter is built is very different from the substance of the previous planets. It is not a heavy rock, but a kind of ephemeral substance, only slightly denser than water. And yet, due to its gigantic size, Jupiter is very heavy and has a significant impact on the course of affairs in the solar system, in particular, on the movement of its center of mass and the formation of sunspots. It has as many as 12 satellites, including quite large ones - like its own planetary system.

I met the hypothesis that, they say, Jupiter is an immature star. Later, when the Sun has finished its work and begins to fade, Jupiter will turn into a star - and he already has planets for his retinue.

Note the similarity between Jupiter's astronomical features and its astrological portrait. This planet, consisting of an ephemeral substance, but setting the tone for the entire solar system, in astrology governs ideas and beliefs, which also, it would seem, are not quite real, but move the world.

Huge Jupiter also symbolizes expansion, development, going beyond the boundaries of the developed space, and therefore is associated with distant travels, foreign affairs, higher education, as well as inflation - "bloating" money supply. Jupiter is a symbol of faith, because when it comes to the beyond, the unknown, only faith leads a person forward. He is the patron of religion, gives a person optimism, and in Indian astrology Jupiter is called Guru - like a spiritual teacher. Of the qualities of character, Jupiter is most associated with generosity, but also with carelessness.

Jupiter, like Mercury, is associated with the human mind, intellect. However, the knowledge of Mercury is facts, details, various information, his mind is quick wit, dexterity, cunning. At the same time, the knowledge of Jupiter is a worldview, philosophical concepts, religious ideas, and the mind characteristic of it is otherwise called wisdom. Jupiter makes you understand common sense, to grasp the idea underlying the phenomena, therefore, has long been considered the patron of sciences. Mercury is the process of scientific knowledge, and Jupiter is its purpose and meaning.

In classical astrology, Jupiter is called the Great Benefactor (and Venus the Lesser Benefactor). It is believed that he patronizes a person, protects him, and even in the most critical situations helps to avoid the worst outcome.

However, any planet has both positive and negative sides. If the qualities of Jupiter are expressed excessively, a person may be distinguished by groundless optimism, boastfulness and "hattering". He can be an incorrigible idealist, unwilling to reckon with the surrounding reality and obsessed with his own ideas.

Saturn

Saturn is the most distant of the planets visible to the naked eye, and for many centuries, before the invention of the telescope, in the view of astronomers and astrologers, the solar system ended on it. This giant planet, which is second only to Jupiter in size, looks small and dim from Earth - all because Saturn is located very far from us, twice as far as Jupiter.

Many mysteries are connected with Saturn. Suffice it to recall the appearance of this planet, surrounded by a ring, over the origin of which scientists continue to argue. True, the ring, now known to any child and giving Saturn a particularly “cosmic” appearance, was learned only in the 17th century. However, how symbolic - the planet, as if "taking in a ring" the visible part of our local space, is itself marked with a ring. Saturn occupies the seventh place in the astrological order - and now it is known that its ring is heterogeneous, it consists of seven main rings and many additional ones.

It is also interesting that Saturn actually has its own planetary system - it has as many as 17 satellites, more than any other planet. And one of them, Titan, larger than the "full" planets Mercury and Pluto, has its own atmosphere, in which scientists have found carbon and various curious chemical compounds. There is an assumption that there, on Titan, life can exist if it does not seem too cool at a temperature of -180 ° C. Although who said that life is possible only in the form known to us?

Although we now know that there are planets outside of its orbit, Saturn continues to limit the area of the solar system available for direct human perception. In traditional astrology, they said that Saturn is the Guardian of the Threshold, he personifies the border between the real and the unreal, the tangible and the illusory, accessible in direct experience and what a person can touch only after leaving his physical body. He guards our existence, does not allow us to dissolve in the vastness of the incomprehensible.

The image of the border, the limit, which is impossible to cross without serious consequences, extends to other astrological meanings of Saturn. This planet symbolizes obstacles, limitations, hardships, it reminds of the inevitable completion of all affairs - including life. The principle of Saturn gives structure and dimension to everything. Let's say, in the human body, it controls the skeleton, the support of the body, and the bodily integuments that protect us from the external environment.

Saturn in the astrological sense is in many ways the opposite of Jupiter. If Jupiter symbolizes expansion, development, then Saturn - compression, deceleration, Jupiter seeks to go beyond the boundaries, and Saturn sets these boundaries, Jupiter gives a person optimism, and Saturn - pessimism and depression. Generally speaking, in one sense or another, Saturn contradicts all the visible planets. The sun gives energy to a person, and Saturn takes it away, the Moon nourishes life, and Saturn reminds that “nothing lasts forever under the Moon”, Mercury strives for knowledge, and Saturn says: stop, you can’t go any further - hold on to logic, otherwise you will lose your mind. Venus tends towards beauty and sympathy, while Saturn is associated with dark, dull colors, gloominess and aloofness. Hot Mars strives to act and stumbles upon the cold disciplinary rules of Saturn ... It is not surprising that in the old astrological books Saturn is also called the Great Malefic.

Saturn is in no hurry, it moves slower than all other visible planets and completes its circle in the Zodiac in about 30 years. He is also called the Master of Time, because it is time that allows us to establish the rhythm and structure of our life. It is believed that in the first thirty years of his life, during the first revolution of Saturn, a person only matures in order to become a full member of society, to take his place in it. He lays the foundation of the Temple of his Personality. At the age of 29.5 - 30 years in the life of most people there are serious changes, often associated with losses, difficulties, obstacles. These changes are especially noticeable if a person has not found his Path in life in previous years: now, becoming a social adult, he strives to find his true Path at all costs, to build the walls of the Temple of Personality. Another important milestone comes at the age of 59 - 60 years: Saturn completes the second round. The time is coming for the erection of the dome of the Temple of Personality - what was created in previous years must be brought to perfection and transferred to other people.

So who is Saturn - the Pest or the Guardian, the Master, the Guardian? In the most generalized perception, he has the appearance of a Strict Teacher, whose lessons are most often painful and unpleasant, but absolutely necessary. They are like the force of gravity, which does not allow us to freely carry loads, but without it, we ourselves would not be able to stay on the surface of the Earth. Saturn with its lessons keeps a person on the path of Fate, makes him master everything for which he was born on Earth. However, one should not talk about Saturn only from the point of view of punishment and coercion. It can also be an invaluable assistant, giving the ability to concentrate, the ability to create order, put everything on the shelves, patience, systematicity, seriousness, and in some cases longevity.

higher planets

Uranus, Neptune and Pluto play a special role in astrology. After all, on a historical scale of time, they were discovered quite recently. The traditional schools of astrology made do - and still do - with the seven visible planets. I am now actively studying medieval astrology, because the higher planets simply do not fit into the system in any way.

Theoretically speaking, since the higher planets are invisible to the naked eye, they must also symbolize something in our lives that is invisible to the naked eye. That is, large-scale social, political processes that are beyond the control of a single person, or deep psychological processes that are beyond the control of human consciousness. However, practice shows that the higher planets may well manifest themselves in Everyday life.

In books, there are often statements about the malevolence of the higher planets, because when they manifest themselves in everyday life, various “revolutions” occur in it, accompanied by chaos and uncertainty. So it is true, but it cannot be denied that Uranus, for example, gives an unforgettable feeling of freedom, often manifests itself as an interest in flights, aviation, and space. Neptune gives high inspiration, spiritual delight, awakening interest in everything mysterious, and in earthly life gives attraction to the sea and everything connected with it. For Pluto, I still do not find enough good words, the experiences associated with it are really difficult and traumatic. Although, perhaps, it is after Pluto "plows" as it should according to fate that you understand how great it is to just live in the world.

The higher planets are important for those who seek to touch the Unknown, they are the ones that encourage us to seek the highest meaning in life. And often they are noticeably located in our horoscopes. Uranus with its celestial-cosmic orientation is considered the patron of astrologers, Neptune - clairvoyants and fortunetellers, Pluto - magicians, but, in principle, the higher planets complement each other when we listen to their vibrations in our search for truth.

Uranus

Uranus is a rather strange planet, even in a purely objective, astronomical sense. The fact is that the axis of its rotation is tilted by more than 90 degrees, as a result of which Uranus rushes through outer space, lying on its side. If we, on Earth, polar days and nights are known only to the inhabitants Far North, then on Uranus the polar circle passes at a latitude of 6 degrees, that is, by earthly standards, at the latitude of Jakarta, Colombo or Bogota. And the polar days and nights continue there for 20 Earth years. What other planet can afford this? Only Uranus, the big original.

It was discovered not by a professional scientist, but by an amateur astronomer. Herschel was a musician, an organist, he made a telescope himself, and in his spare time he watched the stars. One of the "stars" turned out to be a new planet solar system, glorified him to the whole world, because the current name of Uranus was not established immediately, for many years he was called Herschel.

The impact that the discovery of Uranus had on astrology can be compared to a powerful earthquake. The very foundations of astrological theory were questioned. Imagine: for many centuries, astrologers used only seven planets, and they were quite enough to describe everything that happened in the world, their meanings and roles were studied in detail and recorded in treatises.

But here comes another planet. What part of the already divided world, what phenomena can be compared with it? Unclear. But in fact, the discovery of Uranus is quite natural, and primarily from the point of view of astrology. Saturn, the most distant of the planets visible to the naked eye, symbolizes the border, the limit that does not allow going beyond the brink of tangible reality. And when, as a result of intellectual and spiritual development, humanity nevertheless began to penetrate the curtain of mystery, when it began to lack what is visible to the naked eye, and Uranus was discovered - a symbol of insight, overcoming existing conventions. By the way, it was discovered with the "armed eye", with the help of a telescope - that is, just as a result of the technical progress of mankind.

Uranus was discovered on March 13, 1781. In order to feel the spirit of that time, it is enough just to look at the events in the world that took place during the 10 years before and after the discovery of Uranus.

The first thing that catches your eye is the sharp intensification of the struggle for independence in the world. In 1775 the American Revolution and the Revolutionary War began, and in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was published. A new state is emerging on Earth, based on new, non-traditional forms of government, freedom, independence, and human rights are coming to the fore. By the way, in one version of the US horoscope, Uranus is exactly on the MC.

Somewhat later, in 1789, the French Revolution took place. Russia does not lag behind - in 1773, the Pugachev rebellion takes place. From this it can be assumed that Uranus is associated with new, non-traditional forms of social organization, which make their way, destroying existing structures. On the other hand, not all the mysteries of Uranus have been solved yet. It has been observed, for example, that he is closely associated with dictatorial, fascist regimes, the leader of which has unlimited power.

In the same period of time there is a revolution in science. Oxygen was discovered in 1774, and in 1777 Lavoisier discovered that air is made up of oxygen and nitrogen. In 1780, Galvani studied the effects of electricity on nerves and muscles. It is not surprising that Uranus is associated with new knowledge, discoveries, primarily with electricity, electronics, computers and any new technologies.

There is a development of space, previously inaccessible to man - in 1783, the Montgolfier brothers make the first flight in a balloon. And now, as I said, Uranus is associated with aviation, space exploration.

But going beyond the usual, rational, is always associated with risk. Our mind is not accustomed to operate in categories of the unknown. From this point of view, the following story is interesting. Herschel, having discovered Uranus, wanted to name it Georgium Sidus (George's Star) in honor of King George III of England. This king was a man of an innovative warehouse, constantly looking for new forms of government. But he ended his life insane. The first signs of insanity appeared in 1788, shortly after the discovery of Uranus. Now Uranus is considered one of the most important operating principles in the mechanism of mental illness.

If Uranus is in any way accentuated in a person's horoscope, it gives originality, unwillingness to reckon with existing norms and traditions, the desire for freedom and independence. The house of the horoscope, in which Uranus is located, helps to understand in what area of life it is important for a person to feel free from conventions. If the principle of Uranus is strongly expressed, a person feels the need to constantly get rid of something, destroy something, and enjoy it, like a breath of fresh air after a long stay in a stuffy room.

Neptune

Neptune led astronomers by the nose for a long time. They sought to calculate the position of the newly discovered Uranus as accurately as possible, but they always turned out to be at least slightly wrong. Everything indicated that there was another planet beyond the orbit of Uranus, amateur astronomers and students offered to start searching for it, but for some reason astronomical bodies refused this idea.

After all, a recent English student, Adams, figured out where the new planet was, and independently of him, the Frenchman Le Verrier made the same calculations. Still, some time passed before the astronomer Galle deigned to look through a telescope at the indicated point in the sky. And immediately glorified his name by discovering Neptune. This happened on September 23, 1846.

After the flight of the Voyager 2 spacecraft, it became known that in the atmosphere of Neptune, like Jupiter, there is an formation that looks like a huge spot. Jupiter calls it the Great Red Spot and Neptune the Great Dark Spot. Neptune and Jupiter are somehow connected, both of these planets are "labeled". Interestingly, in astrology, they have the same zodiac sign, Pisces, as their abode. And some astrologers (including the author) believe that the sign of Sagittarius is also ruled by both of these planets.

It is interesting to connect the astrological appearance of Neptune with the changes in the world that accompanied its discovery. The year 1846 is considered the most important milestone in medicine, since it was then that the American dentist Morton used anesthesia during the operation. Since then, anesthesia has been widely used in surgery. Anesthetics - chemical substances designed to create the illusion of the absence of pain. And Neptune in astrology is just associated with chemistry and illusions.

In those years, photography was invented and actively developed and improved, which made it possible to capture and preserve images of the surrounding world. And Neptune is just associated with images - idealized similarities of reality. Remember how attractive and multi-colored even not the most pretty landscapes look in photographs.

The Opium Wars were on, ending China's isolation from the rest of the world, and opium, like other drugs and means of escape from reality, belongs to the economy of Neptune.

The remains of the Mayan civilization on the Yucatan Peninsula were discovered and the cuneiform of Mesopotamia was deciphered, large-scale layers of secret knowledge were opened before humanity, and yet everything secret is so close to Neptune.

The first artificial dyes were invented, and just Neptune is responsible for everything artificial, designed to replace natural things and phenomena.

The Communist Manifesto was published, realizing the dream of an ideal society, which later turned out to be one of the greatest delusions of mankind. And attempts to make this dream a reality ended in chaos, from which we still cannot get out. The very idea of communism is the personification of Neptune, and "dream", "ideal", "delusion", "chaos" are all key words for its various manifestations.

In 1948 there was a revolution in France that reverberated throughout Europe. Her motives were very different from the Great French Revolution accompanying the discovery of Uranus. Then the revolution was directed against the monarchy, and the goal was to create a more modern social structure. Now, in describing the causes of the revolution, Neptune sounds: economic depression, poor harvests of previous years, general dissatisfaction with politics ... Chaos, in a word.

In addition to all of the above, the sphere of Neptune includes ideology, religion, everything supernatural and unknowable, as well as cinematography, the chemical industry and the media in the sense that they create in the mind of the layman an image that is pleasing to those in power and by no means always true. Neptune is associated with oil in general, as well as its extraction and processing, it usually occupies a prominent position in the horoscopes of states that have become fabulously rich in oil supplies.

In the horoscope of an individual, Neptune indicates a tendency to idealization, and therefore often to chaos and disappointment when trying to embody one's ideals - but also to higher forms of inspiration that serve as a source of creativity. Being strong in the horoscope, it gives a person some special inner longing, which some quench by writing poetry, others by meditating, and still others by using alcohol or drugs. Sometimes you can see how a person with a noticeable position of Neptune is fully aware of the harm of smoking, but cannot help himself from smoking sometimes, drowning out an inexplicable inner unrest.

Pluto

Pluto was discovered as recently as March 13, 1930, and its role in astrology is far less known than the roles of other planets. In the middle of the century, many astrologers generally refrained from making judgments about Pluto - they say, you still need to watch and think about it. In our time, Pluto is already being written with great confidence, but some seventy years that have passed since its discovery cannot be compared with centuries and millennia of study, understanding, and experience that other planets have inherited.

History claims that Pluto, like Neptune, was previously "calculated" on the basis of the perturbations it exerts on the orbit of Uranus, and only then discovered using a telescope. Various sources contradict each other somewhat, but the general picture is this: an American astronomer named Percival Lovell calculated the orbit of the alleged planet, but despite all attempts, it could not be detected. Already after Lovell's death, astronomer Clyde Tombaugh of the Lovell Observatory, studying the photographs of the starry sky, made in accordance with Lovell's calculations, discovered heavenly body later named Pluto. This "post-mortem" shade is quite characteristic of the understanding of Pluto in astrology.

After the discovery took place and the parameters of the orbit and the mass of the new planet were estimated, astronomers were perplexed. A planet with such a small mass (several hundred times less than that of the Earth) and so far located (twice as far from the Sun as Uranus) simply could not have any significant effect on the movement of Uranus. In addition, there is an opinion that its orbit is chaotic and in general can hardly be determined with acceptable accuracy. So how then was Pluto calculated?

As the new planet was explored, it turned out that it had a satellite, called Charon. Moreover, it is so large (only half the size of Pluto itself) and so close to Pluto (at a distance of less than ten Pluto diameters) that together they actually form a double planet. It is believed that "Pluto-Charon" is very different in composition from all previous planets, starting with Saturn and ending with Neptune - it is a stone core covered with water and methane ice. But they - a planet and a satellite - are very similar to numerous small planet-like objects located at about the same distance from the Sun and forming the so-called Kuiper belt. Pluto and Charon are, as it were, more prominent representatives of this numerous army of celestial bodies.

The mythological Pluto is the god of the underworld, and if you try to project mythical spaces onto the reality of our world, it corresponds to the inner region of the globe, mysterious, unexplored, containing energy that can move continents and turn the bottom of the seas into mountain ranges. Very often, Pluto plays an important role in the most powerful earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Pluto is also associated with the energy of organized human masses. The image to which these masses rush is associated with Neptune, but their immeasurable power, which allows them to create grandiose cultural monuments or destroy entire civilizations, is one of the incarnations of Pluto. Its image is especially noticeable in mass organizations, whose members wear a uniform, and this is seen as an analogy with the Kuiper belt - a multitude of small space objects, homogeneous in composition.

Pluto is also associated with the deepest layers of the human unconscious, which, if they get access to the surface, can completely transform the personality and destiny of a person, destroy them or revive them. It plays an important role in one of the oldest and most powerful human instinct - sexual, and in addition, as a rule, it is strong in the horoscopes of people with pronounced magical abilities. Depth psychology, which developed in the 20th century, is undoubtedly the brainchild of Pluto.

One of the important keywords for Pluto is transformation, or destruction, the complete destruction of something, followed by rebirth in a new, different form. It is associated with birth and death, not without reason the mythological Charon is the carrier of the souls of the dead across the river Styx to the underworld of Pluto Hades.

Of the mass movements, Pluto is most consistent with fascism, as well as other totalitarian regimes and dictatorships, in which the common man is just a cog in a complex, powerful and efficient state machine due to his ruthlessness. Therefore, it is not surprising that in the immediate historical vicinity of the time of the discovery of Pluto, many totalitarian states are born and flourish.

In 1922, the Nazis march on Rome, Mussolini becomes prime minister, and a fascist dictatorship is introduced in the country. In the same year, the formation of the USSR takes place. In 1923, a dictatorial regime was established in Spain, in 1924, Mein Kampf, the Nazi manifesto, was published. In 1927, a fascist organization was founded in Rumania, in 1932, the British Fascist Union, and in 1933, a fascist party in Norway. In the same 1933, Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, the first concentration camps were created, and the fire in the Reichstag served as an occasion for a significant strengthening of the positions of the Nazi Party. 1929 is the year of the "great turning point", a significant strengthening of Stalin's sole power, the beginning of the first five-year plan, collectivization and industrialization.

In the period immediately adjacent to the discovery of Pluto, efforts directed at the study of the atomic nucleus and elementary particles, experiments on the splitting and bombardment of atomic nuclei are sharply activated and bring significant results. Pluto gives the desire to take the world apart, make it work for itself, including for gaining power over other people, so the history of the creation of nuclear weapons from the point of view of an astrologer is inextricably linked with Pluto.

It is no exaggeration to say that one of the most powerful forces in our world, and perhaps the most powerful, is money. Pluto, of course, did not leave the financial side of human life without control. Literally on the eve of its opening, the Great Depression broke out in the United States, and although the Americans managed to avoid the “new order” and “great turning point” that shook Europe and the USSR, only the “new course” of President Roosevelt, announced in 1932, allowed the United States to get out of the crisis.

In an individual horoscope, Pluto, like other higher planets, does not always manifest itself and not for everyone. But in general, he points to areas of life and personality traits in which huge energy is concentrated, and because of this, various difficulties arise, traumatic events occur, a person loses something irrevocably, and if something new arises on the ashes that have arisen, then completely unknown before.

When Pluto influences relationships with other people, complex, difficult to control feelings play a significant role in them - jealousy, greed, envy, the desire to subordinate another person to one's will. For this reason, some astrologers call Pluto the "planet of difficulties." However, it is also referred to as the "Bulldozer of the Zodiac" as Pluto can provide tremendous "penetrating power". Under its influence, a person literally sweeps away any obstacles without even noticing them.

Here we come to the end of the second lecture, devoted to a detailed consideration of the planets.<…>

Many<…>modern students of astrology make the mistake of forgetting about critical factors horoscope and being carried away by the exotic. They can completely ignore the important things that Mercury, Venus, Mars tell them, but they completely concentrate on the Black Moon or the White Moon, and they no longer perceive anything else. The result is not an interpretation of the horoscope, but a kind of essay on a free topic. It's like describing a person's appearance by focusing mainly on the shape of their left ear.

End of quote.

Good material, isn't it? :)
