Dried fruit compote for a child

>span>

In the last article - compotes for children, I wrote about compote for a child up to a year and older. How to give, how much, norms for each age. Now let's figure out how to cook compote for a child. So that we get not only a delicious drink that the child will like, but that it retains as many vitamins as possible.

You will need to make a dried fruit compote for a child:
  1. 50 g dried fruits (apple, pear);
  2. 500 ml. water
How to make dried fruit compote for a child:

1. Very convenient proportions of dried fruits and water. While we are just starting to introduce dried fruit compote for a child, you can cook 20 g of dried fruit per 200 ml.

Let's figure out what dried fruits we use. From seven months - this is an apple, pear, prunes, they are the least likely to cause allergies. At first, we cook only from dried fruits of apples, introduce them gradually, as the baby gets used to it, you can gradually add a pear to the apple, then, as you get used to it, prunes. It is better to cook compote from these dried fruits up to 9-10 months. Then you can add raisins (it causes gas formation) and dried apricots (it often causes allergies).

Dried fruits should be washed thoroughly. We put them in a saucepan in which we will cook compote, always with a glass lid, then I will explain why. Pour them with warm boiled water (not hot, but warm). And let it swell overnight. We will not drain this water already; this is water for compote.

Stir the contents in the morning. If the child is older than a year, you can add a little sugar. Up to a year, it is better not to add sugar, if the child completely refuses to drink without sugar, it is better to add grape sugar, or a little fructose. Both of me drank with pleasure without sugar, and sweet compote is even worse and now they drink, they like it slightly sweetened.

2. We put a pan with a tightly closed lid on a slow fire and bring the compote to a boil. As soon as they saw through the glass lid that it was boiling, immediately remove it from the heat without removing the lid. Let it cool down with the lid closed.

As for the closed lid. This is very important for the preservation of vitamins. After all, the destruction of vitamins is facilitated not only by temperature and prolonged heating, but more importantly, that there is no contact with air during heating. That is why I often try to write that we close the lid and almost all the pans I have with transparent lids, so as not to remove it once again.

3. After 30 minutes - 1 hour, you can offer the child in a warm form.

Of course, even with such gentle cooking in dried fruit compote for a child, part of the vitamins is inevitably lost, but there remains a maximum that can be preserved when preparing compote, i.e. heating - up to 60% of vitamins, and they are stored in liquid. Since almost all vitamins and microelements from dried fruits pass into liquid, i.e. into compote. And in the compote, mineral salts and organic acids are preserved.

We store compote up to 1 day. I pour it into a jar with a closed lid and put it in the refrigerator.

I also like to pour into a thermos, so you can also store until the evening. Very convenient, no need to reheat.

The next day, we prepare fresh, because the longer the compote is, the more vitamins it destroys. Bon appetit!

Apple compote for babies is a healthy drink. Especially if your own fruits grow in the garden in summer. Such a drink will provide the body of crumbs with vitamins and trace elements. Also compote will help to adjust the chair. In this article, we will figure out at what age apple compote for babies is allowed. You will find recipes in this article and you will understand that there is nothing complicated in this process.

Age and nutrition

It is believed that up to six months the crumbs can completely dispense with breast milk. This applies to children who have enough breast milk and are breastfed. It is also important that the mother breastfeeds the baby on demand. If the child is fed by the hour or supplemented with formula, then the baby simply needs clean water.

Previously, pediatricians advised giving the child compotes, juices, starting from three months. Today, the norms of pediatrics have changed. Now any complementary foods should be introduced no earlier than 6 months. Compote from apples can be introduced into the baby's diet at the age of 6 months to a year.

The benefits of apples

An apple is a fruit that is 80% water, or rather, a liquid rich in vitamins and minerals. The pulp of the fruit contains pectins, which have a good effect on the baby's stool. Apple increases appetite, promotes proper digestion. It has a choleretic and mild laxative effect.

The fruit is included in the menu for problems with the kidneys, liver, obesity. It improves the microflora in the intestines. Increases the level of iron in the blood. With colds such as laryngitis, tracheitis, when hoarseness appears in the voice, warm apple compote is shown. It relieves spasm of the vocal cords.

Apple compote for babies who have problems sleeping can become a light sleeping pill. The fact is that these fruits contain a high content of vitamin B 6. They are also rich in potassium and magnesium. All these substances have a positive effect on nervous system and promote healthy sleep.

An apple lowers blood sugar levels, makes breathing easier and promotes general relaxation. In addition, scientists have found that people who consume this fruit daily are less likely to suffer from heart disease.

Most pediatricians advise children under one year of age to give freshly squeezed diluted fruit juices. Apple compote for babies is no worse if the fruit is not subjected to enhanced heat treatment. There are no less vitamins in this drink, but the liquid is more loyal to the children's stomach. Compote does not contain fruit acids, which can cause trouble. How to cook healthy drink for the crumbs, you will find out below.

Which apples to choose?

Preferably, of course, homemade. Such fruits for cooking compote or making baby puree can be used whole. Do not remove the peel and discard the seeds. It is in them that the maximum amount of vitamins and minerals.

However, if there is no opportunity to eat homemade fruits, then store-bought or bought at the market will do. When cooking, the peel is cut off from such apples, since it is usually treated with special compounds in order to keep the product longer.

If you choose apples for your baby in winter, then pay attention to Antonovka. This variety is better than others beneficial features. Many may be confused that the fruit is quite sour. This testifies to great content vitamin C. If necessary, you can sweeten Antonovka compote quite a bit.

Features of the use of compote

Apple compote, like any other complementary foods, should be introduced gradually. At first, dilute the drink with boiled water. When the child's body gets used to it, it will be possible not to add excess fluid.

Giving compote to the baby should be between meals to quench thirst. But doctors do not recommend drinking any liquid during meals. Drinks reduce the concentration of gastric juice and digestive problems begin. If the child is not used to the bottle and does not suck on the nipple, then compote can be given from a spoon or a small cup.

Features of cooking

Cook apple compote for babies for the first time? Use only one variety of fruit. This is necessary so that you can determine what exactly the child's allergy went to. When the baby gets used to several varieties separately, you can try to mix them. If the crumbs have some problems with digestion, then new complementary foods, even if it is such a useful liquid as compote, should be postponed indefinitely.

This drink is ready in minutes. If you buy apples in the market or in the supermarket, then choose the most nondescript fruit. If you see small damage or wormholes on them, then this is very good. Such flaws indicate that the fruits were not treated with chemicals. Glossy large apples, as in the picture, are also smooth to the touch, as if smeared with wax, most likely treated with special means for their storage and transportation.

To prepare one small serving you will need: a glass of water and 1 apple. The fruit must be washed well. Peel the skin (if it is bought in the market). Remove core. Place the cut apple in a saucepan and pour 250 g of cold clean water. The liquid should boil.

After boiling, boil the fruit for another 30 seconds. We do not put sugar in drinks for small children. If there is a need to sweeten completely acidic fruits, then it is better to add fructose. Do you know for sure that the child is not allergic to honey? Then you can replace it with a natural bee product. Honey also needs to be chosen carefully enough, because it may contain chemical impurities. It is advisable to purchase honey from familiar beekeepers.

Leave the drink to cool. Let the pieces of fruit infuse and give all their useful material. If your child suffers from constipation, then you can help him with this beneficial liquid. Take out the slices and smash them with a blender.

If there is no such unit in your kitchen, then the usual one will do sieve. Put fruit slices in it, rub it with a spoon. Mix the resulting slurry with liquid. Such a drink is rich in pectins, which will help the child easily empty the intestines. In addition, the use of fruit pulp is the prevention of dysbacteriosis.

Raisins should be added last when the water boils. Boil fruits for 20 minutes. Such a drink must be diluted in a ratio of 2: 1 before being given to the child. Mother's milk is the healthiest food for baby because it contains all the necessary substances for health and development. It is often assumed that breast milk is sufficient, but this is not the case. Additionally, you can and should give your baby water: for example, in the heat, at elevated temperatures or problems with digestion, with artificial or mixed feeding. In addition to water, natural juice and homemade compote for babies are a great solution.

In 1989, the World Health Organization defined the principles of feeding, one of which is not to give the newborn to drink, except for mother's milk. Milk contains 87.5% water, but at the same time it has a high energy value, and for a child it is not a drink in full measure, but rather food, like mashed potatoes or porridge. As for the “newborn” period, according to WHO, this is the time from birth to 28 days. As soon as this period passes, it is worth thinking about new drinks to fill the baby's need for liquid.

In the first month of life, the child is the least protected, his body is not strong enough, so drink only water - previously filtered and boiled or bottled. By the beginning of the second month, try giving chamomile or fennel tea. Juices for children from 3 months - from pears or green apples, from peaches or apricots. From six months, you can already present your baby with homemade compote.

At what age should you start drinking juices and compotes

When can you give juice to a baby? The Russian Research Institute of Nutrition recommends starting at three months of age. But there are exceptions to every rule. Talk to your pediatrician and watch your baby's reaction with him.

For two weeks, give juices made from one fruit (for example, only pure apple). If the child's condition is normal - that is, no allergies, stable stools - for the next two weeks, drink juice from some new fruit or vegetable, again, without changing to others.

If you want to know exactly how many months you can give juice to a child, here are some general patterns depending on the age at which you plan to introduce your child to a new product. Whenever you start, everything should be done gradually.

Table - entering juices into nutrition by months

1 month The juice is introduced gradually (a few drops from a pipette) or dissolved in a large volume of water. Every day the number of drops doubles
3 months The baby can be given 5 drops of natural juice per day, half diluted with water. Every few days, while reducing the amount of water, increase the volume of the pure drink to 2 teaspoons. It is given undiluted twice - 1 spoon in the morning, 1 in the evening. By 4 months, you can drink up to 5-6 teaspoons per day
4-5 months At this age, a bottle-fed baby can begin to drink juices.
6-7 months Can you give juice to your baby? breastfeeding. Nectars - only occasionally (they contain sugar, and the nutritional value lower than natural juices)
2nd year of life Meals include regular juices industrial production. However, they are considered too concentrated for a fragile digestive system, the first few times they need to be diluted with water in equal proportions, then add more juice

If you are against early complementary foods, try this drink from 4-6 months. Moreover, "artificial" can be started to drink earlier than infants.

When can I give compote to a baby? Compote is also useful, it contains both vitamins and microelements - perhaps in smaller quantities than in natural juices. Until the child is one year old, it is quite possible to do without it. An exception is if the baby does not like juice or tea too much, and you would like to diversify his diet.

  • After 6 months. Compote of fruits or berries.
  • 1-1.5 years. Dried fruit compotes are most relevant in winter, when there is no fresh food. Natural sweetness will save you from having to add sugar, and the child will not have cavities.

At first, just like juice, it is advisable to dilute compote with clean water, and later bring the concentration of the drink to normal.

The baby can drink during the feeding process, and in between them - from a bottle with a nipple or from a spoon.

Juices, their features and methods of preparation

You can prepare juice for a child with your own hands only when you are absolutely sure of the quality of the product. If you buy specially designed baby drinks, you can rest assured that they pass quality control and do not contain synthetic substances, stabilizers, flavors, etc. The main thing is to make sure that the composition does not contain sugar.

Consider which juices are considered the most useful, and how to make some of them at home.

Useful for babies
