Good day everyone. I have many wristwatches. All of them are stored in their boxes, different in color, size, design.
But today I will put an end to this disgrace.
I will tell and show you how I made a watch box.
A play in two acts with an intermission.

Step one: decorating the interior. In fact, this is, of course, the second act, but for the sake of unusualness, let it be the first.

So, a box with internal partitions for 8 cells. In the photo, the partitions are taken out. The inside of the box is not lined with anything.

Let's start from the bottom. Many start with the sidewalls, but it seemed to me that it would be more beautiful and neat. The sidewalls will then cover the edge of the fabric.
So, we measure the bottom on all sides, because. the box may be crooked.
Cut out a piece of flock. Trying on. Cut if necessary. Glue to the bottom. I used Moment Crystal glue.

We measure all sides. We cut out pieces of cardboard in size, reducing all sizes by 2 mm, this is an allowance for the fabric. In principle, you can do without cardboard, the flock is already thick. With cardboard it will be more convenient to glue. Be sure to try on all the sidewalls, if necessary, cut, not forgetting that the fabric will add a couple of millimeters.
We lay out all the pieces of cardboard on the fabric, leaving 2 mm between them, this is the allowance for the fold in the corners of the box. Because the box is large, I did not find a cardboard that was suitable in size for the long sidewall. Therefore, I have a long sidewall composite.

Arrange the cards in the correct order. The joint will be in the lower left corner of the box. Glue the cardboard to the fabric.

Of course, you can make each sidewall separately, but it's not so beautiful, there will be joints in each corner. However, they can be closed with a decorative cord.

We cut the fabric, leaving allowances of 1 cm for the fold. The flock does not crumble, it was possible not to make a bend, but with a bend it turns out more beautiful and neater.

We bend the allowance and glue the fabric to the cardboard. It turned out to be a long line.

We try on our strip to the box. I had to redo it a little, in some places the cardboard boxes turned out to be a bit long. I had to tear them off the fabric and cut them a little.

We glue our strip inside the box, starting from the left sidewall. The joint should be in the lower left corner. It is less visible there.

If you have an ordinary box for small things, you are lucky, your work is over)

Trying out barriers. Because the bottom and sides are already trimmed with fabric, the partitions protrude beyond the edges of the box. This needs to be fixed. For lack of tools, I removed the excess with 100 sandpaper.

By the way, you need to sand a couple of millimeters more, because. the fabric is thick and if this is not done, then the partitions will ugly stick out of the box (as in the photo). Better let them "drown" a little.

In my box, the partitions are collapsible. For greater rigidity, I glued them together.

From above, where the partitions intersect, we got places not covered with fabric. I covered them with puzzle pieces.

I cut the foam rubber into pieces that fit the size of the cells. The foam should fit snugly into the cell. Remember that there will still be fabric, you need to take into account its thickness.

I cut out 3 parts from the fabric for each piece of foam rubber. I have 8 of them. Don't forget about the seam allowances.

A handmade watch box can be a good alternative to a purchased product. The principle of creation is not very complicated, so you can cope with the task using a limited number of tools and materials. It is more difficult to make a beautiful finish on the outside and inside.

Using a jigsaw, make blanks for forming the walls, bottom and lid of the case. Cuts should be rubbed with sandpaper. This will help remove all roughness and visible differences.
First, coat all joints with liquid nails and glue the wooden box. This will be the base of the mount.
Knock down the box with small nails. Pre-nails, it is desirable to lubricate with wax. This technique will help maintain the integrity of the wooden canvas, preventing splits.
Make a hole in the lid. It is desirable to remove half the thickness of the board. The recess will be inside the case. Attach the lid to the finished box using canopies.

Here is the base of the do-it-yourself wooden watch box almost done. Additionally, from the remnants of the board, you can cut out small squares that will be the legs. The elements are easily attached to the body with liquid nails.

Finishing the finished case

In order for the case to have an attractive appearance, it is necessary to make an external finish. The principle of processing is to carry out the following steps:

Coat the cuts of the boards with putty. Additionally, it is worth covering up the joints in the case. Places where nails were hammered should also be hidden with putty.
Lightly sand the places treated with putty. For this purpose, sandpaper is used.
When the putty dries, it is worth smearing the box with a primer. This will help keep the tree much longer.
The third stage in processing will be opening the case with varnish. It is advisable to apply several layers. Each layer must be formed after the previous one dries.

A handmade watch storage box can be even more attractive if you make wood carvings. Then the rest of the decoration is done after creating the pattern.

Internal arrangement of the device

Having decided on how to make a watch box, you should also think about the internal arrangement of the case. The work is as follows:

First you need to inside cover the lid with cloth. Usually velvet is used for this. Textiles of this type protect the watch and strap from microscopic damage.

My eyes fell on a simple box where you can store 10 watches, I certainly won’t collect so many watches in the house, if you remove the side wall in this compartment, you can store bracelets and other large jewelry.

The box came wrapped in three layers of pimply packaging and wrapped with yellow tape, everything inside was intact, the corner from the impact was slightly wrinkled, but it was almost not noticeable.

The entire inner case is pasted over with velvet, at the first unpacking there was a lot of dust from the velvet inside, I cleaned it with a vacuum cleaner. The whole box is made of thick cardboard of different thicknesses, everything was glued neatly, there were no traces of glue.

The lock is made of metal, closes and opens with a light touch of a finger, screwed to the body with screws.

Now about how the watch lies inside the box, the watch itself can be fixed on the pillow itself by fastening the watch strap on it, putting the watch in the cell and closing the lid until the window remains about 2 cm, so the box is suitable for large and wide watches.

The whole body is glued well, the only complaint was the gluing of the joints at the pillows, apparently they were badly pressed after the glue was applied, I glued all the joints and pressed for 20 minutes with a box.
Since the box has no canopies, its role is played by artificial leather on the back wall, this is the weak point of the box, which I corrected a little, at the fold point I pasted electrical tape, suitable in color and texture.

There were already reviews about this box, after reading them, I decided to order this box, but on another site, as you can see, the box came exactly the same as in other reviews.
Of course, you can make the box yourself, but I still couldn’t do it so carefully, so I bought it. I recommend this box to everyone, as it is not expensive and looks attractive in a simple style, suitable for both dark hours and light hours, you can use the box to store large jewelry.
