Artistic wall painting in the interior of an apartment is a great way to create a unique design. The choice of plots, colors and features of the painting will help to bring its own unique feature to each room. This decoration technique is appropriate in all rooms of the house:

At the same time, it is important to select plots and motifs that set you up for positive: for example, a seascape or a garden view. In addition, it is for the living room that plots are often used that can visually expand the space.
  • Wall painting in the bedroom is used as often as it is. Peaceful sea and mountain landscapes, images of flowers or the starry sky, as well as all kinds of romantic paintings are considered traditional. You should not abuse the abundance of details in the picture in the bedroom - this can be annoying for the inhabitants of the room.
  • No less popular painting walls in the children's room. Instead of typical photo wallpapers with long-familiar cartoon characters for the children's room, they use individually designed stories that take into account the hobbies and passions of the child. The standard color scheme for a children's bedroom is delicate pastel colors, calm and expressive. Flashy and bright colors are appropriate only in the interior of a teenager's room.
  • To finish the kitchen, painting is used a little less often because, as a rule, the small size of this room, which does not allow using the wall plane as competently as possible. Most often, they paint a wall in the dining area, applying an image of an urban or summer landscape.

All options for wall painting ideas should be selected only with an experienced designer, since a seemingly attractive picture in a large format on the wall may not look very good. In addition, a specific plot should be selected according to the style of the room, its layout and the furniture that is planned to be placed in the room. Since such a wall inevitably becomes the semantic center of the interior, it should not dominate or overwhelm.

Wall painting in the interior has been widely used for many centuries. Medieval frescoes, antique paintings, modern paintings on the walls - all this testifies to the sophistication of the room and the high sense of taste of its inhabitants.

It is not necessary to be the owner of a large house with columns in order to use the artistic painting of the interior as wall decoration. A small pattern can decorate a wall in a nursery or any other room. Modern materials and technologies make it possible to make a real work of art out of a dull, monophonic surface. And most importantly - for this you do not need to be a professional artist or designer.

The article will describe the most simple and affordable ways to enliven a living space, make it more interesting for perception and cozy. Everyone can apply them, the main thing is the desire to decorate the room with their own hands so that it looks like a masterpiece from a professional designer.

Choose an artist

To date, there are many specialists who are ready to make a painting in the interior, a separate room in any, even the most incredible techniques.

Naturally, the more difficult the work, the greater the cost for its implementation will be taken by a specialist. But the trouble is, not everyone can create a drawing that meets all the requirements of the customer. And the money for the work, anyway, will have to pay decent. And sometimes you want to decorate the room with your own hands. And let the wall painting in the interior not become a work of art. But with what a sense of pride you will look at the surface, painted by yourself.

This work can also be done collectively. For example, a child will always be happy to paint the interior in a nursery. Of course - if his age allows him to hold a brush in his hands. And the luxurious painting of the wall in will wind up on romantic feelings if you complete the drawing together.

The main thing is to believe that there is nothing difficult in painting walls with your own hands. In the yard of the 21st century, modern materials have high quality characteristics that allow you to create a beautiful picture on the wall, even for those who cannot draw at all. The main thing is not to neglect simple rules when painting walls.

wall painting techniques

Fortunately, modern artists have ample opportunity to create incredible wall art. Once upon a time, only one, very complex technology was used - frescoes. Now it's enough just to buy a few cans of acrylic or water-based paint at the hardware store, and start drawing on the wall.

Have you decided to create a masterpiece yourself, but do not have real experience in this field?

So, you should pay attention to such painting techniques:

  • stencil;
  • simple contour drawing;
  • drawing a picture on the projection of the slide.

A stencil is a great way to make a do-it-yourself wall painting in the interior, apply a simple monochrome or multi-color pattern to the wall. In the children's room, a child can help you, because to draw a picture, it is enough to attach a stencil to the wall and walk over it with a brush or roller. Using a stencil, you can put on the wall not only an ornament of the same elements, but also other images.

Drawing along the contour is quite simple. The main thing is to find a simple but beautiful image and, using a regular soft pencil, reproduce it on the wall. If something does not work out, the contours can be easily wiped with a damp sponge and drawn all over again.

Even a person who is far from mastery in the fine arts will cope with the work. When the contours are applied to the wall, it is enough to decorate the drawing with interior paints. The technology is ideal for decorating a nursery, especially if the child loves to draw.

If you have a slide projector, you can use it to draw a picture on the wall. For example, to reproduce the desired image on the wall surface, redraw its contours on the wall, and then decorate it.

Pattern selection

Artistic wall painting in the interior is simple.

It is important to choose the theme of the picture for a particular room:

  • Decided to paint the wall in the living room? Flowers, trees and natural landscapes are ideal. Only a professional can draw a forest or mountains on a wall. But lilies, dandelions or snowdrops are not so difficult to reproduce on their own. You can use a simple stencil for applying ornaments.
  • The optimal solution for the kitchen is painting the walls in the interior with still lifes of fruits and vegetables, images of any food. Many will be able to draw a plate of fruit or a head of cheese. The main thing is to choose a simple drawing.
  • In the nursery, you can depict cartoon characters. For a girl, images of flowers, butterflies, a fairy-tale castle are suitable. Need to decorate the walls in the boy's nursery? Images of superheroes and cars will do. When both a boy and a girl live in the nursery, various pictures can be depicted on different walls in the room. Clouds or a starry sky is a universal solution for a children's bedroom.

When painting the walls in the bathroom, you should pay special attention to the type of paint. The bathroom is very humid. In another room, you can use water-based paint, for the bathroom it is better to take acrylic. For the bathroom, images of waterfalls, Roman baths, the ocean floor, and fish are suitable. Is this too difficult for you? So, the image of large soap bubbles on the wall will do.

wall painting technology

The wall will be painted in the bedroom, or another room, you should follow the technology of applying paint to the wall. Wall painting is the decoration of the room. But all work begins with the alignment of the wall.

It is not necessary to apply plaster or level the walls with drywall yourself. You can entrust this process to professionals.

If you decide to do this work yourself, they should include the following steps:

  • leveling the wall with plaster or drywall;
  • a layer of starting putty;
  • a layer of finishing putty;
  • painting the wall in the background color.

On plaster or drywall, as well as layers of putty, a primer should be applied, otherwise it will begin to delaminate over time. After drawing the picture on the wall, it is opened with a transparent varnish. This measure allows you to make the image as resistant to mechanical damage as possible, and the colors will not fade and fade for a long time.

Where to place the drawing

Have you chosen a pattern for the wall? Has the paint been bought and the walls prepared? Now you need to decide on the place of drawing the image. First you need to plan the entire design of the room. Do-it-yourself wall painting in the interior should not contrast with the color of the furniture, it should correspond to the style and purpose of the room. So that as a result there are no unpleasant surprises, you need to put a plan of a room with furniture on paper, and depending on it, look for a place for a drawing.

It is better if the wall with a picture is well lit. If possible, this should be the surface opposite the window.

If the drawing is placed on a far, poorly lit wall, an LED strip can be laid under the ceiling. Or - hang a small lamp on the wall.

Drawing in the nursery or bedroom will burn to decorate the area above the bed, or near it. Not necessary . You can choose a small drawing that fits the theme of the room. For example, in a children's room we draw clouds on the wall or stars under the ceiling. In the kitchen - a still life or an image of fruit over the table.

To make the interior of a room with artistic painting even more interesting, you can resort to some design tricks.

Use fluorescent paint. Even a simple drawing with fluorescent elements will look as impressive and unusual as possible.

The drawing can be applied to decorative plaster, or - to surround the image with it. If the level of skill allows, we use the technology of relief painting, some of the elements here are made using plaster or putty. Do not be afraid to experiment, and your creative ideas will be embodied in the interior of the room with exclusive hand-painted.

Lace, lace, wooden lace,
You disappear before my eyes.
Forever disappear, leave, melt,
Remain the wreckage, at home, as in tears.
People walk around the ancient wooden city,
They walk like blind men without raising their heads.
Wooden lace calls to them: Look!
We're leaving forever, we say goodbye!
We burn, crumble, they kill us,
Demolished together with houses, tormented, crushed!
For a hundred years we have been broken, broken, broken...
They do not want to save, as if in a hurry.
A house with exquisite carvings will be replaced with a brick one
An ugly remake with a crooked grin,
And again they will walk by out of habit
People with a heart without memory, with an empty soul.
We do not remember the names of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers,
That they built their houses not for a year - for centuries!
Decorated with carvings so that grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Lived better, happier, for sure.
We walk in our own city, strange guests,
Indifferent robots, in front of a veil.
And broken bones lie behind the fences
Wooden treasures. And our country.
(Author Miroshnikova Irina)
Hello dear guests! I was very touched by these delightful lines, there is so much sadness, admiration and love for their Motherland in them! Architraves, it would seem such a small thing in our cultural heritage, but if you delve into their study, this is a huge historical source, wooden writings left to us by our ancestors.

Modern life, its way of life and architecture, if you can call concrete and brick boxes that way, were forced out and practically destroyed - this is a great cultural heritage. The shadow of bygone years, warped history, the structure of the universe and the faith of our glorious ancestors. But even now in Russia there are many wooden houses left, new ones are being built, impressive with their lace patterns on the windows. Maybe I'm too dreamy and sentimental, but I really want to return our cities and villages to their former beauty, the flavor of the Russian national style, the traditions of our great-grandfathers. This is the topic of my new work. This is just a small spark, a rush of the soul, but without a spark, a flame does not flare up.
(Artist Vsevolod Ivanov)

More than a thousand years have passed since the time when Rus' was baptized by "fire and sword", but the echo of the native faith of the Slavs remained in carved letters, in the lace patterns of the Russian hut, and window frames. They hide the very symbolism, the secret meaning that has come down to us from our ancestors, and moreover, the marvelous beauty that makes us admire the affairs of human beings for a long time.
Any sign or notch left on the tree carried its own meaning, gradually turning into a special sign-amulet from evil spirits. The basis of all the symbolism of wooden carving is the most important Slavic deities of our ancestors - the God of the sky Svarog and the God of the sun Dazhbog.
(Artist Viktor Korolkov)

And since, according to Slavic mythology, Dazhbog is the son of Svarog, then in window decoration the symbols of the sky, as a rule, are placed above the sun (semi-sun), as if covering it from above. The same principle of decoration was used for the roof (top) of the house. The upper contour of the gable pediment of the Slavic house was the firmament, along which the sun makes its daily path from the lower left end of the roof up to the gable of the roof, to its “ridge” and further down to the lower right end of the roof.
The image of horses attracts attention, with their help various symbolic meanings were expressed. In popular belief, the sun is driven across the sky by a golden horse harnessed to a golden chariot, and therefore the images of horses were directly associated with the sun, were considered a symbol of light, thunder, lightning, wind, and water. As a rule, horses are directed in different directions from the sun and symbolize the movement from the past to the future, emphasize the inextricable connection between the old and the new, death and rebirth, the continuous cyclical nature of phenomena in nature, in accordance with the beliefs of the Slavs.
There are also realistic images of birds (ducks and swans) on the architraves, they were located in the lower part, on the contrary, because they carried away the sun at sunset.
(Artist Andrey Klimenko)

The world of our glorious ancestors consisted of four parts: the earth, two heavens and the underground-water zone, it was this world order that was reflected in wooden patterns, their compositional construction.
The four components of the casing - lateral, upper and lower - symbolized the four seasons and the four cardinal points. Therefore, each pattern woven into the ornament of the casing had a strictly defined place. Some symbols were a direct appeal to the gods, or the forces of nature, others were able to erase the line between the worlds, others served as amulets that warded off dark forces, all the patterns on the platbands carried magical power.
(Artist Viktor Korolkov)

The magical protection system provided for the image not only of the sun and its path through the sky, but also the sky itself as a reservoir of rainwater, necessary for the growth of all living things. The upper part of the architraves is the sky, consisting of two levels:
1. The "firmament" (upper sky), in the understanding of our ancestors, it kept the "abyss of heaven" somewhere in an inaccessible height above the airspace of the ordinary sky. This bifurcation of the sky was reflected in the Russian language in the words "heaven" (singular) and "heaven" (plural). The firmament was most often depicted in the form of a gable roof;
2. "Abyss of heaven" (reserves of water in the sky), stored at the level of the "upper sky" located above the "middle sky", along which the Moon and the Sun move. Heavy rain, downpour was defined by the phrase: “the abysses of heaven opened up”, that is, the heavenly water opened up, received freedom and rushed down to the earth. Depicted as wavy lines or distinct semicircles and could "drain" along the edges of the window, depicted as droplets.

The Slavs imagined rain streams as a stream of milk from the Mother Goddess, therefore wavy lines or semicircles symbolized the breasts of the goddess of fertility nourishing the earth. also forming a wavy pattern in their repetition.
The most important event in the life of our ancestors was the birth, and the mother was also one of the main figures in the decoration of the platbands. The figurine with outstretched arms and legs - "Bereginya-Rozhanitsa", giving life, personifying the feminine, sometimes it is very clearly defined, and sometimes it is so distorted that it looks like an amazing interweaving of flowers and snakes. But in any case, it can be recognized - the central symmetry of the figure, the head, outstretched arms and legs.
Bereginya-Rozhanitsa is the Goddess Lada, the wife of Svarog, the Goddess of love, beauty, family happiness, the patroness of marriage, the keeper of the hearth, mother, the patroness of newlyweds and children, the joy of the elderly.
(Artist Viktor Korolkov)

But the main and central sign in the upper part of the decoration of the architraves was the Sun, the most revered deity among the Slavs. In patterns, it is presented as a solar sign, a stylized symbolic embodiment of the sun, and is perceived as an expression of a powerful force, energy and radiance of life that carries warmth. In Soviet times, it was replaced with a flower or a five-pointed star.
Also, the sun was depicted on the architraves as a small half-disk with rays, and as an equilateral cross, the so-called "eye from heaven" (as a rule, in the upper part of the casing. An oblique cross is a symbol of the sun and fire (earthly fire), leaving in a distant primitive, the word "around" means "circle", the space around us.The cross enclosed in a circle denoted the harmony of fire: heavenly and earthly.
The solar circle was depicted in different forms, you can find the sunrise and sunset. All signs related to the course of the sun, to its position in the sky, are called solar and are considered very strong, masculine signs.
Sun signs symbolize wealth, joy and good fortune. In ancient times, objects decorated with symbols of the sun had a particularly magical power. They protected the owner from illness, misfortune, the evil eye, protected not only individuals, but the whole family from misfortune.

Thunder symbolism was placed next to the solar symbols, which was supposed to protect the house from lightning strikes. The thunder symbol was a circle divided into 6 equal sectors (six- or eight-pointed star). The Slavs called this symbol the Perun sign, a thunder wheel or a kolovrat. This sign is a symbol of courage, valor and a magical sign of the Russian army. Sometimes this sign denoted the change of day and night.
Also, a rhombus was used to depict the sun. It could be placed in any part of the casing, and sometimes both at the top, and on the right, and on the left, and even below. In this combination, the symbol denoted the change of seasons and day and night.

The side parts of the architraves were called “towels” by the wood carving masters; plant and animal ornaments were placed here, symbolizing the middle world, in which animals, people and plants live.
The earth itself, which gives a harvest to a person, was not ignored - the lower part of the architraves symbolized the earthly firmament. Diamonds and circles with dots inside, intersecting double stripes - all this is an image of the earth, a plowed and sown field. Very often they were located next to the symbol of the sun, denoting the unity of the heavenly and the earthly, explicit, and symbolized Mother Cheese Earth-Goddess Makosh.
Women of antiquity learned to be Makosh in their family. Makosh is the woman who knows how to work in the field, in the garden, in the garden, in the forest, knows medicinal herbs, knows how to raise and properly educate children.
The underground part of the world, the flow of underground waters, was also depicted here. After all, river water is completely different, unlike rain water, it basically came just from under the ground, from springs, springs. And the spring has always been considered a sacred place.
In addition to these basic signs, Slavic symbols include the image of a rainbow, figures of a goddess on top of a building, realistic images of animals, snakes, lizards, various floral ornaments, horseshoes, and many others. And every image, every detail of wooden lace has its own meaning, a protective meaning, a hidden message to posterity.( )
Artist Viktor Korolkov)

Welcome dear friends and guests to a master class on wall painting in the Slavic tradition!
Before starting the painting, a little preliminary work was required. The house is very old, in my lifetime I remember only one renovation, so the view of the house is terrible. All the plaster, which is sprinkled and crumbled, had to be beaten off with a hammer and put in order with the help of cement mortar. And how to work with cement you can see

I decided to decorate the foundation under the masonry. All work is done by hand, without a trowel, as if we were baking thresholds from wet sand as a child, then we stick the resulting lump to a wetted wall. And then there's the matter of painting.

Materials and tools:
- paint water-based moisture-resistant white, for outdoor use (4 kilograms)
-colours of different colors (green, beige, orange, red), gouache is quite suitable instead
-gouache
- simple pencil
-brushes
-cloth
- bank for water
-ladder
- acrylic varnish
- stencils
- stencil paper
-scissors

Since the scale of the painting is very large, we need stencils. We make them using symmetrical drawing and cutting with scissors.
Hell of heaven.

Side poles.

Coastline and water.

Horses.

Sun.

Swan.

Floral ornament.

Master class progress:

We start by painting the walls with the main tone. To do this, mix about 2 liters of white water-based paint with a beige color scheme, and apply color to the walls with a large brush.

Next, make a green color, and paint the window area. We create a silhouette of platbands.

We draw a silhouette of the top of the platbands. In the middle we place the horses, and on the sides there will be an ornament "shoreline". First, draw a sketch of the picture with a simple pencil.

At the very top of the house we draw an ornament "heavenly abysses" and decorate them with blue.

With the help of improvised pillars, we outline the boundaries of the composition.

At the bottom of the pillars we draw the silhouettes of the railing with the "water" ornament.

We return to the top of the composition. In dark blue we draw six-beam stars "thunderbolts". And edging along the bottom edge of the ornament.

We mix white paint with an orange color scheme, we continue the design of the platbands with this color.

We decorate the pillars with a dark blue color on both sides of the composition. On the sides of the windows we draw silhouettes of the half-sun.

We connect the windows at the bottom with the same half-sun.

We draw the central sun in the form of a circle under a pair of horses.

A cozy apartment with an attractive design is the dream of many people. But it is not always possible to invite a professional designer into the house so that he can design the perfect decoration for the room. And it is not a fact that his vision will coincide with yours, and he will do everything really well. But you can create a masterpiece for yourself, besides, it is not as difficult as it seems.

Try to paint the walls in the apartment with your own hands and you will get an almost professional design. To do this, you don’t even have to be an artist, because there are special stencils for painting, it will not be difficult to master the painting technique.

What makes wall art

It looks not just beautiful, the drawings on the walls in the apartment with their own hands attract attention, fascinate, just look at the photo. The artistic painting of the walls in the interior always transforms the room for the better, gives it a certain charm. At different times of the day, the pattern changes, the lighting always gives it something new. You can admire it for a long time, it does not bother you, as is often the case with photographs and wallpaper pasted on the wall.

Artistically, the image leads deep into the room, allowing you to visually increase its size. It allows you to correct shortcomings - curved walls, low ceilings, define zones in space.

The size of the art painting has no limits, it can be done in small quantities or occupy the entire surface of the walls. However, this means that the apartment should be like an art museum. Everything needs a measure, and if this rule is followed, then you can create a magnificent wall design with your own hands. Your drawing will be a beautiful bright spot, the pearl of the entire interior.

Artistic painting - choose a picture

You should, first of all, focus on the overall design. Consider what can be used in different rooms of the apartment.

Wall painting in the living room

In this room, the family gathers to sit and talk, this is where the guests are located. This place is simply created for joy and fun, so it is important to create just such a mood there.

To set it in the right way, place cute landscapes, marine-themed images, abstract drawings on the walls that create whimsical combinations. Warmth and comfort will bring images of a fireplace with burning wood.

If the interior of the living room is made in a classic style, then decorating the walls with old frescoes or majestic columns of palaces will be in place. If the interior is made in the ethnic style of a country, then landscapes that are inherent in this country can be painted on the walls.

Well, if the room is decorated in faceless high-tech or minimalism, then graphic black and white images will give it a twist.

Wall painting in the bedroom

This room plays an important role for a person, it is in it that he rests, gains strength after hard working days. That is why the atmosphere of this room should contribute to rest and relaxation.

Flowers, birds, butterflies, flowering trees, romantic paintings will create the effect of appeasement not only externally, but also internally. According to Feng Shui, only such drawings should be created on the walls of the bedroom.

Images of water, sea, waterfalls for bedroom walls are unacceptable. Drawings depicting predatory animals, autumn leaves, dried flowers should also not decorate the walls of the room where a person sleeps.

Children's room

Think carefully about what should decorate the room. The children's room can be decorated with any bright drawings that introduce you to the world of a fairy tale.

Let it be some universal theme - an underground kingdom, an underwater kingdom or a fairy forest. Images of heroes can be made more vivid, do not skimp on these colors.

But do not abuse bright aggressive colors when decorating the background, try to maintain a calm, even tone. Colorful walls with characters from various cartoons, although they will look great, especially in children's rooms, but later the child's addictions may simply change.

Wall painting in the kitchen

Our kitchens are rarely large, so our task here will be to increase the space. Let it be an artistic painting that will take the viewer into the distance or images of the sights of a city.

It would be nice if you depict the atmosphere of a cozy cafe or a country picnic on the kitchen wall.

Still lifes with delicious fruits, invigorating coffee beans, scorching spices will also come in handy and brighten up the overall atmosphere. Flowers and beautiful dishes are what you need for the kitchen, so many people choose them.

Bathroom

This is not the most suitable place for painting, the decor of this room is not conducive. Humidity fluctuations can ruin all work. However, you can decorate the walls in this room. Marine theme, the underwater world is most suitable for this room. To keep the drawing for a long time, cover it with varnish in several layers.

If you are new to drawing, then you should not choose too complex drawings with many small details. It is better to choose something easier, then you will be sure that you will definitely succeed.

Let's get to work

So, the drawing is selected, it remains only to put it on the wall. In order to put a photo on the wall with your own hands, you must first prepare the wall, which must have a completely flat surface. Therefore, it would be advisable to sand it, apply a primer. And if the drawing requires it, then you can paint it.

Prepare all the necessary materials you need for work: brushes, acrylic paints, stencils. Water-based acrylic paints are ideal for wall decoration. Take care of separate dishes where you can mix paints and wash off solvents if you use varnishes. It is best to take disposable containers for this.

You should have several brushes, with some you will draw large details, others small ones. Many artists prefer to use kolinsky natural bristle brushes when they need to paint something small. Flower petals can be painted with a foam roller.

Progress:

  • The wall should be level and smooth, make sure it is. If there is any doubt, then do the preparatory work on the alignment. You must have a sketch. If you want to see how the drawing will look on your wall, paint a sheet of paper to match the color of the wall. You can even draw several sketches with different shades and depths of colors and choose the best one.
  • Draw a basic drawing on the wall - a sketch, then add details. Take colored pencils first, as they are easily washed off, so you can easily eliminate all the flaws with an eraser. From a simple pencil on the wall, ugly stains can remain that do not erase. When you draw, try to step away from the wall occasionally to appreciate your drawing.

Not everyone has the skill of an artist to the right degree, and if you are not confident in your abilities, then try drawing by cells. Another way of decorating that you can use is to try to copy from a slide on the wall.

  • Get your acrylics ready, but don't mix them too long as they run the risk of drying too early. Mix the main shade in the palette. It is important that the consistency of the paint is thick enough, but not too liquid. And then it will fit well on the wall. Arrange the main details, then do the small details. Perhaps listening to classical music during this process will help you create better.

If you need to urgently interrupt the process, then take care of the brushes, they will need to be washed, otherwise you will not be able to wash off the paint later.

If you are using a stencil

It will not be difficult for you to find a stencil; you can find and print any pattern on the Internet. You will need to cut it out, put it on a glass surface.

Then take the lavsan film, attach it to the stencil and cut it out. After that, the stencil can be attached to the wall. You can even use a paper stencil. It needs to be pressed in tightly or you risk smearing the entire pattern on the wall, so use duct tape to secure it.

In many hardware stores you can find special stencils that make drawing much easier. They are made of plastic and are easily attached to the walls.

But if you don’t feel like or don’t have time to apply a drawing at all, you can simply purchase vinyl stickers and stick them on the wall. And a beautiful picture on the wall is ready! You can always remove it from the wall when you get tired of it and place a new one there.
