The Speroni STS downhole pump has a typical diameter of 4 inches or 98 mm, which limits the ability to install in some wells. For example, the minimum casing diameter into which this pump can be lowered is 125 mm or more.
The Speroni STS centrifugal pump itself has a stainless steel casing and noryl plastic impellers. But don't let that scare you, the pump is quite reliable and durable. Before handing over the well, the drillers have already pumped the well for you, you already have clean water, there is nothing in it that would erase this plastic.
The STS range is very wide and you can always find the best device for your well.
In Russia, the centrifugal Speroni STS is being replaced by the Waterstry STS. This is the same Speroni, but under a different brand.

Pump design:
Downhole pump STS– submersible centrifugal multistage pump of normal suction. It consists of a pump part, which includes a certain number of stages - working chambers, which sequentially increase the pressure on the pump discharge pipe. Each working chamber contains an impeller, a diffuser and a chamber housing. The final stage of the pump is equipped with a non-return valve and an outlet with an internal thread. Fluid enters the hydraulic part through a hole in the adapter flange, protected from sand, drilling products and other foreign objects with a special strainer. The hydraulic part is designed according to the scheme with a floating impeller, which reduces the requirements for starting torque and reduces the abrasive effect of sand in water. In the STS series, the impeller is made of noryl, a very strong polymeric material, which is a mixture of polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and polystyrene (PS), which was developed by General Electric Plastics in 1966.
The connection between the electric motor and the pump is made in accordance with the NEMA standard.

Installation:
These pumps are designed specifically for downhole operation. As a result, the cooling of the electric motor here occurs with a stream of water moving from bottom to top along the motor to the inlet filter between it and the pump part. Therefore, it is allowed to install a downhole pump in a tank or well, but at the same time it is necessary to place the product inside the cooling casing, thereby simulating the working conditions in the well. It is also possible to mount the SQS pump horizontally with the outlet slightly above the intake.
The connection of a standard motor with a waterproof power cable must be carried out using the installation of a waterproof filler or heat-shrinkable adhesive sleeve
The cross section of the power cable is selected depending on the power of the electric motor and the required length to the power source. It is recommended to use a safety rope made of stainless steel, automatic pump shutdown (pressure switch, press control), a dry-running protection relay and a membrane tank.

The main difference between the pumps of the STS series and the SPS is the material of the impellers and diffusers, as well as structural fabrication pump body. In the STS series, Noryl is used for manufacturing. A set of impellers and diffusers is placed in a sleeve that reliably protects the working elements of the pump. The surface of impellers and diffusers made of noryl has a low surface roughness, so the hydraulic parameters of the flow path are quite high.
To solve the problems of water supply of a private house, a pump with a capacity of not more than 5 cubic meters is enough, therefore, pumps of the STS series (with a pressure value of more than 30 atm.)
