Glass shower enclosures without a pallet: functional qualities and installation features

Do you want your bathroom to be visually light and literally filled with air? Then you will have to forget about bulky shower structures with high and massive walls. But on the other hand, an interesting alternative is at your service - glass railings without a pallet. Numerous photos convince of the sophistication and attractiveness of such a solution, however, you must admit, this is still not enough to get acquainted with the fences. So further we offer to understand the features and types of glass structures, as well as learn how to install them yourself, using the instructions and an explainer video.

Features of glass railings

The first question that worries every potential user is: what are glass shower enclosures without a pallet good for and do they have any fundamental disadvantages? Let's start with the positives.

Firstly, for the manufacture of structures, not ordinary glass is used, but tempered triplex. Its thickness is at least 6 mm. Such glass is characterized by increased impact resistance, so it is not afraid of household mechanical damage, which has a positive effect on its service life. But even if the structure breaks, it will disintegrate into small, safe fragments with non-sharp edges.

Secondly, railings without a pallet have a very elegant look and give the bathroom a visual lightness and neatness.

Thirdly, despite the airy appearance, glass railings are practical: their edges are reinforced with special magnetized PVC seals, which ensure hermetic closing of the doors and prevent water and moisture from penetrating into the bathroom.

Fourthly, fences are convenient and hassle-free in operation - glass structures are resistant to deep stains, and any contamination can be easily removed from their surfaces even without special chemicals.

Fifthly, glass is an environmentally friendly raw material that is not subject to mold and fungus, so you can be sure that the fence is hygienic and safe.

As for the disadvantages, perhaps the most serious, albeit absolutely justified, disadvantage of glass railings is their high price. For example, they are many times more expensive than plastic counterparts.

Types of fences without pallets

Another important feature of palletless glass railings that deserves special consideration is the wide range of designs. Models can differ both purely aesthetically and in configuration - let's get acquainted with the most common options.

First of all, shower structures are distinguished by the type of doors:

  • Swing - pendulum or drop-down walls inside the door. These traditional models take up quite a lot of space, so they are recommended for use only in spacious baths.
  • Folding - doors sliding apart by means of rollers and folding inside the fence.

Advice. If you decide to stay on a shower structure with folding doors, pick up metal rollers with a moisture-proof coating - they will last much longer than standard plastic ones.

  • Sliding - ergonomic doors that slide off with the help of rollers to one side of the shower enclosure.

Also, shower structures differ in the type of glass used - it can be not only a transparent canvas, but also more spectacular options:

  1. Tinted - with the addition of color color directly to the glass mass.
  2. Matte - processed by sandblasting, which deprives the glass of its usual shine.
  3. Patterned - with applied embossed repeating print.
  4. Stemalit - with full or patterned staining with ceramic compounds.
  5. With photo printing - with the application of full-color photographic images.

Installation of shower enclosures

A glass shower enclosure without a pallet is fixed to the walls and floor according to the following scheme:

  • Mark out the fasteners for the rails on the walls and floor and drill holes for the dowels in the marked areas.

Advice. If work surfaces are tiled with ceramic tiles, use a non-impact drill for glass or ceramics to make holes.

  • Fasten the lower guides to the floor, adjust their position using a level and fix them to the surface with dowels with self-tapping screws. During the installation process, do not forget about the doors: if they are hinged, then you need to leave free space for them without guides.
  • In the same way, using dowels and self-tapping screws, fix the side rails to the walls.
  • Using the screws, install the bases for the lower and upper hinges on the side rails.
  • Put the bearing profiles on the guides and insert the seals into their grooves. Then level the profiles and adjust them with the screws.
  • Install the top and bottom side hinges into the prepared bases.
  • Hang the glass railing sashes: start fixing from the floor bearing profiles, moving to the lower hinges, and from there to the upper ones.
  • Install the guard door on the hinges or rollers.
  • Fix the seals on the ends of the shower structure.
  • Treat all fasteners and joint areas with silicone sealant.

Thus, glass shower enclosures without a pallet are an equal alternative to traditional ones. They are sleek, easy to maintain, and most importantly, fairly easy to install. So now you have every opportunity to turn your bathroom into a truly airy and comfortable space.
