Wash hardness

Dictates mixer type. The value depends on the rigidity of the sink design. So, heavy mixers weighing at least 6.5 kg are installed only on sinks made of stone and composite, but not on stainless models. As an alternative - wall mounting or installation of a faucet in the countertop next to the sink.

bowl dimensions

Compliance with the wardrobe. With a standard cabinet width from 450 to 1200 mm, the width of the sink should be such that the bowl of the overhead sink (or several bowls with drain fittings - siphon) can be easily placed between the side walls of the cabinet.
The traditional width of a sink (its bowl) for a cabinet of 600 mm is about 400 mm. Its depth is approximately 171-195 mm. If you bake a lot (wash baking sheets), like to cook in bulky dishes - a wok, for example, you need a deeper and wider bowl. There are such models, their depth is 200-205 mm. But with an increase in capacity, you will have to bend more over the sink. Therefore, the cabinet in which it will be built is best raised to 105 cm (usually the sink is installed at the level of the main countertop, i.e. 85 cm from the floor).

bowl capacity depends on the internal depth of the bowl and the radius of the bottom and side surface. A smaller radius (the walls are almost at a right angle) - a more spacious sink.

sink shape

Model outline. When we say "rectangular" sink, we are talking about the external shape - the outline of the model. In this sense, the majority of rectangular sinks on the market. But the bowl of a rectangular sink can be rectangular, and round, and oval, and triangular, and in the form of an asymmetric drop. Round bowls are considered the most capacious.

Number of bowls. The main large bowl is often accompanied by a small one - an auxiliary one, most often of a smaller size. Such sinks are called one and a half cups. Products with two or even three bowls allow you to perform several actions in the kitchen at the same time. It will facilitate the work in the kitchen if the sink has a wing, better than a corrugated one.

sink types

  • Traditional: overhead sink. Attaches to cabinet instead of countertop. The overhead sink has one drawback: water can seep between the sink and the adjacent cabinet. A model with a wall-mounted rim prevents water from flowing out of the bowl. The disadvantage of an overhead sink with a wing-dryer is that water can seep between the sink and the adjacent pedestal. But this is, perhaps, the only solution for economy class kitchens: sink sizes are standard, they fit standard cabinet sizes.

The mortise overhead kitchen sink is easy to install: the countertop hole for it does not have to be perfectly even, because. she will close its edges with her piping.

  • Easy to install: mortise overhead sink. During installation, a thorough processing of the hole in the countertop is not required - the edge of the hole masks the edge of the sink. It is only important to process the joints with sealing tape and sealant. A profiled edge protrudes 5-10 mm above the table top or, alternatively, a flat edge.
  • Difficult to install: fully mortise. The sink is flush with the countertop (thanks to the flat edges) or even flush. At the same time, the edge of the countertop hole, especially if it is made of stone, must be perfect. a fully mortise sink requires thorough sealing. A variety of mortise sinks - models installed below the level of the top (the so-called integrated underbench). They have many advantages: a wide range of sizes, absolutely any shape and, importantly, an increased internal depth.
