Small houses for permanent residence: an overview of the most comfortable and cozy projects. Tiny houses - design and design of habitable dwellings (65 photo ideas) Assembling the construction of a tiny house

How did the idea to build a tiny house on wheels come about?

Once I bought 2 hectares of land on a wonderful lake. Working in a large construction company in senior positions did not allow me to do my favorite thing - to develop some of my own buildings at the facility. In addition, there was a coastal strip with a nature protection zone on which it was impossible to build anything capital.

First, the idea arose to build a tiny house for friends, and then, with changed circumstances, to make a recreation center consisting of at least three Tiny Houses (tiny houses).

It was not realistic to build them without building experience, resorting to the help of hired workers. It is clear that the first house had to be made by yourself.

Tiny houses, or as they are also called Tiny House, have been known for a very long time. I liked the idea, because in a small volume you get the functionality sufficient for a comfortable stay and relative mobility.

I started building it 1.5 years ago. This is due to the fact that initially the construction was carried out on weekends, when he was very busy at his main job. Subsequently, there were a number of other projects that distracted, and now I have just returned to finishing.

About searching for a trailer

Various roofing schemes were studied and designed: shed, broken and complex. I am an architect, designer, builder. All this is available to me. I didn’t have any initially dark moments in the construction.

The main problem, which I spent about 4 months on, was to find a crazy person who would agree to do what I needed. I'm talking about a trailer. And at the same time within the framework of the approval of the vehicle.

This was before the crisis. At the same time, trailer manufacturers, roughly speaking, built in bulk. And dealers bought everything in bulk from them. They refused to build anything different.

But there was such a person. I made him a project of air suspension, dropping to zero, made levers on them. It remains to purchase only a head for the overrun brake, which will work with hydraulics, since initially they set the bar to make hydraulic brakes.

My proposal to make them ourselves did not meet with support. He says it takes a long time to certify them. Don't know. I'm already tired of convincing people that everything is doable.

Building a tiny house

The trailer has been found. It was the foundation for my house. After that, construction began. The projects existed for a year on paper, in my head, but the funny thing is, when I arrived, I started building from scratch, not even according to the projects. Because of this, the house turned out with all the mistakes, because of which I myself shoot any contractor.

I have a wooden frame. It was necessary to unambiguously calculate the step of the floor planks, rafters, so as not to make unnecessary cuts, adjustments and everything else. My mistakes are naturally invisible and do not affect the quality. These are technologically superfluous things that impose costs on production.

The hundredth penoflex went as a heater. The walls of the house are a fairly thick sandwich. And if you count it for wood, this is a log house with a wall thickness of a little less than forty centimeters.

There was a compromise, which I kind of regret now because I want to use the house in the off-season. I made a large panoramic door next to the fireplace. In fact, this is another view window, and in the absence of a vestibule, it does not allow it to be economically used in terms of energy saving in the winter.

The only thing that I will not repeat in the construction of the next houses is Shinglas (soft tiles) on the roof. I really wanted to use it, I liked it as a material. But in fact, it is heavy, and it was allowed only with the understanding of the following compromise: no one will ride with this house like Schumacher, so there should not be any special critical moments associated with a sufficiently high center of gravity and installation.

Everything is assembled with a crate on the membrane. All the condensate that is collected from the roof does not go to the materials, but collects on it and goes into the ground.

I have laminate flooring. And I don't really like him. According to its moisture resistance, it can be seen that it is able to gain some moisture, and ideal dryness cannot be achieved in the absence of a vestibule in this house. It will not deteriorate and will work, but in the next house I will think about how to implement some kind of replacement for it.

I wanted to make the design of the house with a country touch, so such a Scandinavian laconic design was chosen outside. For this I received a lot of "trolling" from friends. They call it now Mishin's pink house. I prove to everyone that he is lilac, but I understand that this is instead of a friendly pat on the shoulder.

The windows in the house are double glazing. The layout of the windows, their size is also due to zoning and the ability to still live in nature, contemplating the beauty.

I also really like the idea of Dutch or rectangular small windows. I'm going to use it in the future in my homes, depending on what the tasks will be.

Dimensions and weight of the tiny house

I didn’t put it on the scales, but I think that its weight is just over 2 tons. In terms of dimensions: maximum transport dimensions: 2.5 four meters, minus height cm 7.

The decision to use this trailer without lowering the frame and subframe even lower was forced.

It's just that the manufacturer was not ready on the first samples, not yet trusting me as a designer, to change everything. I wanted to immediately buy three trailers, and they have already been purchased. As a result, I suppose to do air suspension. The house will sink “to zero”, but at the same time, the resting wheels will steal a little space from the internal volumes, this will also be beaten, but the house will actually stand on the ground.

Tiny house layout

The layout of my house is standard. I have an alcove upstairs. It is located above the utility block. There is a gas convector, as the most optimal and cheapest solution. The experience of its operation has shown that it can work normally, but additional valves must be installed, since the system cannot be bled when replacing cylinders. Unlike proprietary equipment.

My deepest conviction is that, despite the high cost, the Truma Combi stove (which costs more than 100 thousand rubles at today's exchange rate) is the solution when you forget about the problem of heat. You came in, turned the toggle switch and you are warm and comfortable.

I also have an excellent Polish fireplace installed in my house. It heats up gorgeously and sitting on an ottoman by the fireplace you can contemplate all those views that you have long dreamed of.

The house is completely autonomous

catchment now implemented from the roof. I have two special filters. I haven't done the mount yet, as I'm trying to test both options to see which one is easier to maintain.

In the place where I have a tiny house, there is so much garbage pouring into the drains that none of them can stand up well yet.

Still, putting a house under a pine tree that loses cones and needles in the fall is a bad idea, I can honestly tell you. In general, the system works. I think it is necessary, either to clean more often, or to come up with some other filtration system. This is already a matter of technology. I'll bring it to mind.

In addition, I made fairly large water tanks (about 280 liters)

Electricity

I have two solar panels of 150 watts installed on the roof of the house. I thought that this is enough for my loads.

From 12 watts, only light and music work for me, and two water pumps. One Aqua 8 feeds the gas water heater, and the second economical one feeds the second faucet in the kitchen, and can be connected to a bottle of drinking water. Both pumps are for camping use.

In this one, I did without the Truma Combi stove, thereby reducing the cost by 4 times.

Heating

Gas convector fireplace + small car Finnish stove 220/800, which is mounted in a special niche under the shelf.

insulation

As I said, I used penoflex as a heater.

Other

Refrigerator - gas / 220.

Stove gas on liquefied gas.

The geyser provides water heating, as in a full-fledged shower. The shower pump is provided by the Aqua 8 electric pump.

For the house, a very light porch is now made of aluminum profile.

About moving around with a tiny motorhome

With a trailer weighing closer to 2 tons, I rode for a very long time. I had my own two-ton boats, with which, due to the difficult landscape of Lake Ladoga, I never went down anywhere. And the boat is high enough on its lodgement, and dropping or lowering it unsuccessfully onto the landscape is not so scary, but hanging the house in such a way that it will have to be pulled out by a tractor, and possibly with torsion losses, is easy. It is too heavy for our "inexpensive", and therefore you should be careful with it.

about the project
Location: Morrisville, Vermont
Size: 18.6 sqm
Owner: Ethan Voldman

Once upon a time there was a 26-year-old American office worker, Ethan Waldman, who did not like to work in the office for someone else's uncle. He once took a vacation at his own expense to cycle around California for a month. During the holidays, he stayed in many camping mini-houses.

There were tiny wooden houses standing on the ground, and mobile structures on a trailer. They made a deep impression on the cyclist!

After the vacation, Ethan seriously thought about how to start his own business and become happier. To do this, he had to quit his job, which means that at a time when the business was just starting and did not generate income, expenses had to be greatly reduced. You won’t eat less - therefore, in the first place, the question arose of reducing the rent for housing - Ethan did not have his own yet. Isn't it quite a common situation not only for American young people, but also for Russia?

But how to significantly reduce costs if they are not too high anyway? Together with two neighbors, Ethan rented a three-room apartment. Moving to a smaller room would reduce the cost of rent, but, firstly, not much, and secondly, it would mean that you would have to throw out some of your favorite things. “At that time I was quite young and lived alone for the last seven years after graduating from college. However, I was surprised to find that I had accumulated a lot of things during this time, ”said Ethan.

It was at that moment that Voldman remembered the tiny camping houses he saw during his trip to California. According to American law, in order to obtain a building permit, you had to be the owner of the land, which Ethan did not have! However, there was a loophole in the law! Permission was not needed if the house would not be built on land, but on a trailer - based on a trailer. By building a house on the land of his relative, he could also avoid taxes. With a home that costs only $100 a month in the US, Ethan could cut his costs several times over.

Whoever seeks will find: an article by blogger Tammy Strobel talked about the construction of such a mini-house.

Ethan began to act: to save money and give away unnecessary things to his friends and acquaintances. He bought a ready-made house plan inexpensively and showed it to an acquaintance of the architect Milford Cushman (Milford Cushman). Cushman replied that he could make a more interesting mini house project, and the two friends set about designing a trailer-based timber frame house from scratch.

The house was built on the basis of a trailer measuring 6x2 meters and, at the time of writing, was in the city of Morrisville, Vermont. But now, who knows? It's a house on wheels! By the way, that is why its height is limited to 3.8 meters due to the height of bridges, crossings and the level of hanging wires in accordance with Vermont traffic safety laws.

Architect Milford Cushman provided a lot of windows in the house, but thanks to a well-thought-out hermetic design and solid wall insulation in winter, the house retains heat well.

The interior of the house is an example of rational functionality. A futon sofa with drawers for clothes is not only a resting place, but also a pantry. The folding table is used both as a dining table and as a work table. A light staircase leads to the sleeping mezzanine, where wardrobes are built in on both sides.

Under the mezzanine is a compact kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, shelves and a sink. Behind the kitchen at the very end of the house, behind sliding doors, there is a shower and a composting dry closet.

Another small mezzanine located above the front door is used to store items such as backpacks, skis, books and luggage. “Ethan had to make big decisions about every element of the design,” says the architect.

Initially, Ethan wanted to build a house with his own hands, but very quickly realized that he lacked the skills. “I try not to underestimate the amount of work that you will have to face when building your own home, especially if you would like to continue to work at full capacity and fulfill other duties,” says Ethan.

He hired a local carpenter, Jason Bednarz, to take care of one part of the house, then take a break and come back a week later to start working on the next part. Due to financial reasons, the construction of the house took one year and three months. Ethan spent approximately $12,000 on labor and $30,000 on materials.

Drywall was almost never used in the decoration of the house. The interior is clad in white pine boards. Part of the boards is covered with either stain or whitewash (like, for example, a bedroom), and the other is painted.

Ethan and Milford Cushman took a long time to select materials for the shower. The tile could fall off when moving the house, so this option immediately disappeared. The architect didn't like the look of the standard plastic shower cover. He wanted to use stainless steel, but Ethan Voldman's girlfriend Ann Carpenter, a nurse by profession, didn't want to shower in a room that would remind her of a hospital. As a result, Cushman decided to use sheets of copper in the shower, which gave an unexpectedly interesting effect of a kind of steampunk style!

The house has a small sawdust-based compost dry closet. After each use, sawdust or other organic matter is added to the toilet. Then the contents, along with food waste, are sent to a compost pit, which is located about 30 meters from the house.

After the construction, Ethan was really able to put a house on the land of one of his relatives, for which he regularly mows the grass and clears the driveway. He spends most of the year at the house with his girlfriend Ann Carpenter, who has an apartment in the nearby town of Burlington, where the couple sometimes lives for a while. Due to being in a permanent location, the house has a flexible connection to the sewer, and wires connect the house to the garage and provide it with electricity.

The house, which looks like a typical forest or mountain cottage, is located in the countryside. Although the other houses are not visible, they are not far away. A grocery store can be reached by car in 10 minutes.

The house stands in a picturesque area, among the hills and mountains. Nearby there are many trees and there are ski and hiking trails. “Everything we love so much about Vermont is right in the yard. True, we don’t have a yard, so it’s all right outside the door,” Ethan jokes.

A couple can take off their ski or hiking boots on the bench at the entrance, which has a storage box underneath.

Like many small home owners, Ethan is very careful about what he brings into the house. “Now I am much more selective. When I receive a gift and know I don't have room for it, instead of trying to put it somewhere in the house, I either return it right away or donate it to a thrift store."

There is a small refrigerator in the house, so Ethan often goes to the store and buys a little. Instead of processed foods that need to be stored in the freezer, he prefers fresh fruits and vegetables.

What about Ethan Waldman's business? He founded his own consulting company, Cloud Coach, and recently wrote a book about building called Tiny House Decisions.

Do you want us to build you such a house? Of course, in Russia it will cost less.

It's no secret that houses are different - and primarily in size. Most often, most people are of the opinion that the more housing, the more happiness. Therefore, everyone has the same dreams - to get a multi-room apartment, build or buy a huge house. However, in fact, happiness does not have to be in size, because you can live wonderfully in a tiny but cozy house.

small houses

Small houses can help make your big dreams come true. For a small unit of society that plans to expand a little, a small house can be the perfect solution to any problems. Tiny living spaces that do not exceed 45 square meters are very often placed on wheels, making them as mobile as possible. There are also narrow houses, which are a sequence of kitchen, bathroom and living room on the first floor and an attic with a bedroom on the second. Such housing is an ideal choice for those who do not think about large areas and do not even want to assume that they will someday live in a huge mansion.

The target audience

It is worth noting right away that the realities of home ownership for young people in modern society are extremely sad, because they do not have the means to purchase their own large housing. And tiny houses can be a great option for this segment of society - as an initial habitat. The affordability of tiny houses is the main reason for their popularity, as is their mobility, which is very often relevant for young people.

Availability

Tiny houses are now a very popular object on the market - they can be sold or rented as easy as shelling pears. Such houses can be quickly filled and settled in - and just as quickly vacated if they are no longer needed. They are suitable both for young couples who want to start an independent independent adult life, and for single people who, for example, pursue career goals, and for this they need to move a lot between cities. Being able to bring your own home with you is a huge plus in a situation like this. And if the current situation does not change for the better, then tiny houses will be incredibly popular, as they offer people the opportunity to get living space at an affordable price.

live small

Tiny houses began as an attempt to create low-budget and affordable housing on a small scale, but have attracted such widespread attention that they are now even made into television shows. There are also special house-building kits for self-construction of such a small house. It is also worth noting that there is now an active community of bloggers on the Internet who disseminate information about the project. Note that in addition to the advantages of this type of house described above, there are also other advantages that attract people. For example, many people want to acquire such housing because of its incredible environmental friendliness. Thus, it is possible to deal with environmental problems, which have recently become extremely relevant. Such houses leave little to no harmful waste, so their owners can feel a part of what makes this world a little better. In a world of endemic consumerism, moving into a home like this can be a conscious step towards a simpler life. Living in such a house will require you to drastically reduce the things you use, since the free space inside is extremely limited. But at the same time, do not forget that for a smaller area you will have to pay less, spend less on maintaining it in good condition.

Individual approach

Do not think that tiny houses are a universal solution to all problems for every person. After all, this is still imperfect housing, which someone may not like. For example, you may not experience any problems if you cohabit with a neighbor, but someone will prefer a tiny but own house. Also, some people find such housing too small, inside they may experience discomfort up to bouts of claustrophobia - but there are those who quite like such narrow spaces and do not cause any discomfort.

Quality is more important than size. Most likely, it is these words that guide people who look at the projects of small houses for themselves and decide to build them. In fact, there can be a huge number of reasons for building a small house: some decide to save a little on building materials in this way, someone wants to stand out from the general background of classic houses and surprise neighbors with their taste and eccentricity.

Is there any accurate information about how many square meters will make a person happy? It is difficult to disagree with the fact that a small house can look attractive, and sometimes even fabulous.

What is the popularity of small houses?

Every year, small private houses are becoming more and more popular, which is mainly due to the fact that people decide to make their lives easier, but brighter.

At the request of young people, the projects of small houses are constantly being improved in various ways, and today a real breakthrough has taken place - the designers, together with the designers, have turned small houses into a single style, calling it eco-life.

There are already several companies in the United States of America whose main specialization is beautiful small houses built on an area of ten to fifty square meters.

It is hard to believe that in such a small area it is really possible to fit all the necessary things, but it is true. With a small area, it is very important to pay due attention to the organization of the internal space so that it is used as efficiently as possible.

Young people, of course, are no strangers to living in real Spartan conditions. For them, the main thing is to have a roof over their heads when it rains.

Many of the students have already appreciated the interesting work of the popular architect Van Bo Le Mentzel, whose house seems to be missing only one thing - a rope so that it can be carried with you when traveling. His houses look so unusual that people even come from other cities to see him live.

It should be noted that the largest area of this type of houses is approximately 40 sq.m., however, in practice, almost all buildings are much smaller. In addition to the attractive price, buyers are also lured by the interior of a small house, which, as a rule, is incredibly neat and comfortable.

Looking through photos of small houses, you can see one of the most original options offered by Californian artist Gregory Kloehn. Almost all of his houses are made either from garbage containers or from recycled materials, and after construction, he hands over the keys to them not only to buyers, but also to the homeless.

Not all homeowners are happy with their minimum living conditions, so they try to use small rooms to the maximum, resorting to the use of modern technologies for this.

In this regard, it is impossible not to note the Egg House, built by dmvA. It contains a kitchen, a bathroom, a bed, as well as several niches at once, in which it will be convenient to store various things. When opening the nose of the house, it can be used as the most ordinary veranda.

small house bedroom design

One of the most important rooms in the house, regardless of its area, is the room in which you fall asleep and wake up. After all, the bedroom is the place where you can restore your strength after a hard day's work. Of course, it is much more pleasant to spend precious and long-awaited hours of relaxation on a comfortable bed in a room where you can also arrange all the most important things.

Even if the room is very small, it is necessary that it be equipped according to all the requirements of homeowners. Do not worry if the design of a small house allows you to place only a bed in the room, because in this case you can use wall cabinets instead of the usual cabinets installed near the bed.

It is worth noting that the less various distracting things in the room, the better it will be possible to relax in it and recuperate for the next fruitful day.

If there is a little more space, then it is better to opt for a medium-sized bed. In this case, the space that you save can be used as additional storage systems. This is especially important in houses and apartments with a small area.

How to equip a kitchen in a small house?

Cooking is an integral daily process for any woman. Even in the case when the size of the room is very modest, it will be necessary to cook food, so it is important to use every centimeter efficiently.

When choosing a kitchen set, special attention should be paid to ensuring that each cabinet must have its own purpose and perform its functions.

If a separate room was not allocated for the kitchen during the construction of the house, then it is worth using any free space. For example, to place various kitchen attributes, you can use the passageway located next to the exit from the house.

When space is limited, country houses do not have to be forced with huge kitchen sets. Today, in almost any hardware store you can find great helpers, namely high quality hanging shelves and roof rails at an affordable price.

Bathroom design for small houses

Having a bathroom is always a must. Even if there is very little space, it is very important to create an atmosphere that will truly promote relaxation.

In order to use the space ergonomically, in no case should you pile up the room with various non-essential details.

It is better to turn to sanitary ware and bathroom furniture brands that offer great solutions, like shelving installed right above the toilet.

A small wooden house can be built independently in a short time, since it will need quite a few materials, as well as free space. It is worth noting that such houses are very often built not for themselves, but for guests.

The interior of a small house can be the most ordinary - use more wooden furniture in the design, pay attention to interesting ideas for storing a variety of small things, and in order to correctly accentuate the accents in the rooms - use accessories in bright colors.
