Make chess pieces

1. Collect pawn pieces. Take the hex nuts and screw them onto the carriage bolts so that the nuts are flush with the ends of the bolts. Then use glue to glue a washer onto the ends of the bolts to make a base for each pawn.

   • Pawns on a chessboard are usually the smallest pieces with a wide base, a thin middle and a rounded head.

3. Gather the horses. Take the hex nuts and thread them onto the machine bolts (1½" (40 mm) long) to the middle of the threads. Next, thread the wing nuts onto the bolts flush with the ends of the bolts. Then follow the steps below.

   Make elephants. Screw the hex nuts onto the machine bolts (2" (50 mm) long) so that they are ¾ of the way from the bolt head. Place a washer on the bolt and screw the cap nut on top.
