APPLICATION AREA

In line with Rules for labor protection when working at height to ensure the safety of lifting workers to workplaces using ladders, brackets or step-bolts to a height of more than 5 m - structures, equipment, buildings and structures must be equipped with security systems.

Metal and reinforced concrete supports of overhead power lines and portals of open switchgears of substations, as well as other structures, equipment, buildings and structures, maintenance and repair of which are carried out at height.

The device and principle of operation of the C-profile stylus

Our company, based on the best foreign experience, has developed in accordance with GOST R 353-1-2008 and introduced into production a means of protection against falls from a height, which is designed to ensure the continuity of insurance for an electrician when climbing (descent) onto poles of 35-750 kV overhead lines and open switchgear portals.

This means of protection consists of a rigid anchor line (STG) permanently fixed on the overhead line support or the outdoor switchgear portal and a removable safety carriage with a shock absorber, which moves freely along the STD and in case of a breakdown (fall) of the worker when lifting / descending from the support, it stops on the STD, thereby preventing the worker from falling. When climbing onto the support, the safety carriage is installed on the STING, and the shock absorber is fixed with a carabiner to the anchor point of the worker's safety harness located on the chest. The shock absorber limits, in accordance with GOST R 353-1-2008, the height of the fall and the dynamic load on the worker in the event of a fall.

Stationary safety line ZAL is produced in two modifications:

  • without steps (for supports with step bolts);
  • with cantilever steps (for poles without step-bolts, polyhedral poles and reinforced concrete poles).

The safety guide is made in the form of a semi-open C-shaped profile of rectangular section (48 x 32 x 3) mm with rectangular holes punched along the entire length of the profile with an interval of 40 mm.

The safety guide, combined with the ladder, has cantilevered steps. The steps are welded to the safety guide and have an anti-slip surface and side limiting ledges 20 mm high. Distance between steps 280 mm.

The safety guide is permanently fixed to the structures of the support post or portal, along which the worker is lifted (lowered). Separate sections of the safety guide are joined together with the help of connecting elements, and in the places of the “break” of the support post, radial safety guides are used for connection.

The slide-type fall protection device consists of: a safety carriage, a damper sling and a carabiner. The damper strap is attached to the safety carriage and carabiner.

Before climbing onto the support, the safety carriage is inserted inside the safety guide, and the damper strap is attached to the anchor point of the worker's safety harness.

When lifting (lowering) the worker on the support, the safety carriage moves inside the safety guide.

When a worker falls, the movement of the safety carriage down inside the safety guide is blocked due to the engagement of the safety carriage stopper with a punch hole in the guide, thereby preventing the worker from further falling from a height.

ADVANTAGES

The use of a belay system ensures the continuity of the worker's insurance when he is ascending or descending to the overhead line pole and increases safety and labor productivity compared to other methods of insurance when climbing the pole.

The use of the safety carriage rolling mechanism reduces friction and ensures smooth movement of the safety carriage inside the safety guide, and also allows optimal movement inside the safety guide at joints and bends. The combination of the safety guide with the ladder increases the convenience of climbing onto supports that are not equipped with stationary ladders, brackets or step bolts.

For the convenience and safety of climbing to the support, as well as to limit the ascent of unauthorized persons to the support, the lower section of the STING is made with removable steps that the operating personnel install (remove) before lifting (after descending) to the support.

The lower sections of the JAL are attached to the support using anti-vandal nuts that meet the requirements of PJSC FGC UES.

Vertical rigid anchor line VERTIKAL provides an unsurpassed level of safety when climbing / descending on any type of fixed stairs.

The anchor line can be installed both indoors and, including in harsh climatic or operational conditions (regions of the Far North, offshore drilling platforms,).

Thanks to its special design, the grapple (slider-type movable safety device) moves freely along the entire length of the rigid anchor line without the help of hands, thereby providing continuous protection to the user throughout the entire ascent/descent section.

Advantages of a rigid anchor line:

  • The composition of the vertical rigid anchor line:

Moveable means of protection of the slide type (capture) (art.RVL101)

Provides free movement on a vertical ladder when ascending / descending. Automatically locks onto anchor line when dropped.

    The set includes 2 grips.

    Material: stainless steel.

Horizontal anchor lines are used as permanently or temporarily installed horizontal railings to protect against falls from a height when working along the edge of mounting horizons or along non-steep slopes.

Anchor lines are divided into rigid and flexible, depending on whether a rigid anchor guide (an I-beam or a special profile rail) or an anchor flexible rope (steel cable, polyamide cord or tape) is used.

To connect the anchor line to a structure or building, it is required to fix structural anchors on the same structure (building) in the necessary places.

At the same time, they distinguish:

  • terminal extremity structural anchor: A structural anchor at each end of an anchor line.
  • intermediate intermediate structural anchor: A structural anchor that may be additionally required between the end structural anchors.

In turn, mobile anchor points are used to connect to the anchor line - special devices, often designed for use only with a specific type of anchor line and functioning according to the manufacturer's instructions.

These are, for example, all kinds of roller and non-roller carriages, special brackets, etc., equipped with anchor points. And already a personal protective equipment (PPE - in the future) of the user is attached to them: a self-insurance lanyard, which, through a jerk compensator, is connected to the user's safety harness.

When moving in an unsupported space, it is always necessary to use a backup (safety) anchor line and a backup (self-protection) sling.

There are NO restrictions on the use of a flexible or rigid anchor line.

In other words, the user chooses depending on the cost of the line, the complexity of its installation and maintenance.

There is no direct indication in the RULES that it is forbidden to stay in one section of a flexible or rigid anchor line between two attachment points for two or more people at the same time. But this rule is a consequence of the fact that the lines are designed just for use by one person per span. The main criterion in this case is the technical tolerances (TD) of the manufacturer. Therefore, for several people to work on one span, it is necessary to increase the number of anchor lines in direct proportion to the manufacturer's TD.

But the differences in the required strength of structural anchors (both the structure itself and the place of their attachment to the structure or building) are one of the main criteria for the use of a rigid or flexible anchor line. If, when using a rigid anchor line, the loads are proportionally distributed between the end and intermediate anchors, then when using a flexible anchor line, the main working forces fall on the end structural anchors.

2. Varieties of rigid and flexible anchor lines

Of the rigid anchor lines today, the most common are: tee and profile.

In tee anchor lines, a “tee” or “I-beam” beam serves as a rigid anchor guide.

In profile anchor lines, a rectangular open tubular profile (a box with a longitudinal slot throughout) serves as a rigid anchor guide.

A roller trolley of a special design rides on a brand or in a box, which is the movable anchor point for attaching the user's PPE.

Of the flexible anchor lines today, the most common are single-line and double-line. In the first case, the movable anchor point (one or two) moves along one linear guide, and in the second - along two at the same time. In this case, the movable anchor point can be rolled on rollers or slide along the guide.

The use of two-line anchor lines is rather narrowly applicable and is used, as a rule, for rectilinear horizontal movement. But in such cases, rigid anchor lines are usually used, since they are an order of magnitude cheaper and easier to maintain, and also do not require increased strength of the end structural anchors.

3. More about flexible anchor lines

Flexible anchor lines can have cable pre-tensioning units and linear (built into the line) dampers, which serve to extend the line in case of an emergency fall of the user. Elongation is necessary to reduce the load applied to the structural anchors to an acceptable value that does not destroy the end anchors of the line. It absorbs the jerk force - an individual shock absorber included in the user's PPE.

Anchor lines can be located at a convenient place for work or to ensure the possibility of reliable fixing of structural anchors. In this case, it is preferable to locate the anchor line not below the level of the chest of an average person, but preferably above the level of the head.

ATTENTION ! It is forbidden to place the anchor line below the level of the user's feet!

In this case, it is possible to use anchor posts (anchor points) in floor, wall or ceiling versions.

The main differences in the device of flexible anchor lines are related to the methods of ensuring the continuity of insurance throughout. If an intermediate structural anchor appears along the path of the mobile anchor point, it can be moved over or pushed into the slot of the sliding bracket, as well as the sliding carabiner can be refastened or pushed into the slot of the intermediate anchor device.

3.1. Horizontal flexible anchor line "MOBI-STEEL"

"MOBI-STEEL" is not the only exception to the rule of mandatory use of special carriages - this is a conventional cable line for connecting to which a typical connecting or mounting steel carabiner is enough.

When passing through intermediate points of support, in order to ensure the continuity of the belay, it is necessary to use a self-belay mustache with two lines, alternately fastening the connecting carabiners bypassing the obstacle.

But! If an anchor device with two half-loops (in the figure - in the center) will serve as an intermediate anchor, then to go through such an intermediate fixing point, it is enough to turn the connecting carabiner first to one and then to the other side of the contour "breaks" of the half-loops.

Anchor post with half loops

True, when turning such a system, a second lanyard with a connecting carabiner is also necessary, since with a tensioned anchor line it is almost impossible to push the carabiner through the half-loops.

The user can be connected to such a line anywhere along its entire length.

Horizontal anchor line "MOBI-STEEL"

3.2. Horizontal flexible anchor line "CUT"

The horizontal anchor line "CUT" allows for turns thanks to the design of intermediate structural anchors, the plate of which passes through the slot of the connecting carabiner-shackle (installed on the user's lanyard instead of the connecting carabiner).

Carabiner-shackle bypasses the intermediate bypass console

Bypass plate console

Connecting clip

Thanks to the slot, the carabiner-bracket, when meeting with the plate of the bypass console, on which the cable clamps are located, safely bypasses the bypass console without interrupting the belay process. In this case, the console plate passes through the slot of the carabiner-bracket.

Everything else is similar to the horizontal anchor line "CALIBER".

3.3. Horizontal flexible anchor line "CALIBER"

To connect the anchor line "CALIBER" to the cable, a special tandem carriage with a slotted "slot" on one of the cheeks of the tandem carriage block along the intended line of its movement is used. Thanks to the slot in the cheek, the tandem carriage, when meeting with a structural anchor equipped with a bypass console with a clutch holding the cable, safely bypasses the bypass console without interrupting the belaying process. In this case, the "wing" of the console (the plate connecting the console with the tubular coupling) passes through the slot of the carriage, and the rollers of the carriage roll over the coupling tube.

The establishment of such a carriage in the anchor line is possible only at the beginning or at the end of the line. Connection anywhere along its entire length is possible only if you use detachable tandem carriages (not manufactured due to the risk of unauthorized disconnection from the line) or use carriages that are pre-installed on the line, and connect the user's safety sling already to the carriage.

Horizontal anchor line "CALIBER"

If it is necessary for three workers to be in one place at the same time, a three-line line is used:

Instead of a roller carriage for connecting to the cable of the anchor line "CALIBER", a special mobile runner-catcher "BEGUNOK" can be used - a rollerless carriage for connecting to the cable of the anchor line of the "CALIBER" type:

3.4. Varieties of structural anchors from TM CROC

For attachment to a permanent structure, TM CROC has developed a whole line of POST anchor posts. These are anchor devices (anchor device) with anchor points for a safety anchor system or personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height:

and others

Post-bollards, like structural anchors, are designed to be installed and fixed on mounting horizons, sloped surfaces or vertical walls for a long time.

To protect against atmospheric precipitation, all elements of the anchor devices of the POST line are protected by a zinc protective coating with subsequent painting.

Anchor posts are mounted to a permanent structure using 4 M12 fixing studs to an additional mounting plate with grooves for the anchor post-post.

For fastening on thin corrugated board, TM CROC offers an anchor post for corrugated board. The step and height of the "wave" of the corrugated board does not matter - the base plate of the anchor post is also universal.

The base plate is fixed on the corrugated board with standard rivets of a rivet gun.

In the center, on a small podium, there is a removable openwork column with an eyelet, also removable. Therefore, instead of an eye, another head from the assortment of anchor posts of TM KROK can be easily installed.

An openwork column with a sufficient jerk is deformed and partially absorbs the force of the jerk.

3.5. Portable (temporarily installed) anchor lines

TM CROC offers:

3.5.1. Horizontal cable anchor line "MOBI-STEEL" - a mobile flexible steel cable system for protection against falls from a height

Two versions: in galvanized steel
or stainless

3.5.2. Horizontal tape anchor line "MOBI-TAPE" - mobile flexible tape fall protection system

Two versions: from 50 mm or 35 mm wide tape

3.5.3. Universal rope anchor line "MOBI-ROUP" - mobile flexible rope fall protection system

The universal MOBY-ROUP line is used as:

  1. lanyard of adjustable length for attaching to the user's ventral, thoracic or dorsal harness attachment point;
  2. adjustable length loop for attaching to the side attachment points of the user's harness;
  3. means of evacuation vertically;
  4. temporarily installed vertical flexible anchor line (anchor line) for working on inclined surfaces or verticals and allowing movement along it, both up and down. (Attention! It cannot automatically accompany the user when moving. To do this, use the "Fairway" line);
  5. temporarily installed horizontal anchor line or horizontal work railing for work along the edge of mounting horizons or along gentle slopes.

3.5.4. Mobile horizontal anchor line RETRAKTA-Line

This concludes the review of horizontal anchor lines from TM CROC. Overview of VERTICAL anchor lines - in the next material.
